Al Awadhi Becomes Youngest Emirati to Climb Mount Elbrus
At just 17, Fatima Abdulrahman Al Awadhi has officially made history as the youngest Emirati to summit Mount Elbrus, Europe's highest mountain.
Standing tall at 5,642 meters above sea level, the young mountaineer raised the UAE flag atop the snow-covered peak in Russia—proving that age and altitude are no match for Emirati ambition.
Braving freezing temps and grueling terrain, Al Awadhi completed the challenge as part of her Seven Summits goal, having already conquered Mount Kilimanjaro earlier this year.
'Reaching this summit was only possible because of the unwavering support of our leadership,' said Al Awadhi. 'I dedicate this achievement to those who taught us that nothing is beyond our reach.'
A Climb With Purpose
She dedicated her record-breaking accomplishment to President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the "Mother of the Nation", praising their continued encouragement of youth and women's empowerment.
Al Awadhi also sees her journey as more than just personal victory—it's a statement.
'My mission is a message that Emirati and Arab youth, especially young women, are capable of leading, exploring and making a meaningful impact,' she said.
Fueled by Passion—and Support
Her expedition was made possible with backing from Finance House, a UAE-based financial institution that supports ambitious youth initiatives.
She also gave a special shout-out to her biggest cheerleaders—her family.
Al Awadhi expressed 'deep gratitude' to them for their love and support throughout the journey.
With two peaks down and five more to go, the world's mountaintops better watch out—Fatima's just getting started.
