UOS celebrates graduation of Professional Diploma Inspectors
The graduates, representing three government departments, completed diplomas in Building and Environmental Inspection, Food Inspection and Health Control (in collaboration with Sharjah Municipality), Road and Traffic Inspection (in partnership with the Roads and Transport Authority), and Agricultural, Animal, and Health Inspection (for the Department of Agriculture and Livestock). Each program was meticulously crafted to address the real-world needs of the emirate's regulatory landscape, underscoring the University of Sharjah's commitment to institutional partnerships, and applied professional education that empowers Emirati talent for supervisory and oversight roles critical to sustainable development. The ceremony began with the UAE national anthem and a recitation from the Holy Quran. Then, His Excellency Prof. Esameldin Agamy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, opened the proceedings by expressing deep gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the University, for his unwavering support of development initiatives and his vision for collaborative engagement with local institutions. Prof. Agamy emphasized that the graduation of 70 trainees from four specialized inspection diplomas was a celebration of knowledge and a testament to the vital importance of continuous professional development in building a progressive society. He highlighted the transformative power of lifelong learning, noting that as individuals grow, so too does the community. Abdullah Ibrahim Al Zaabi, Member of the Executive Council, and Chairman of the Human Resources Department underscored the strategic value of the collaboration with the UoS's Center for Continuing Education and Professional Development (CCEPD). He described the partnership as a cornerstone in building national capacity and developing specialized talent to enhance the efficiency of government work. Mr. Al Zaabi reaffirmed the department's commitment to sustainable and targeted Emiratization, positioning these diploma programs as a model for producing highly qualified inspectors in fields that are vital to the emirate's future. Engineer Yousef Khamis Al Othmani, Chairman of the Roads and Transport Authority, expressed pride in the graduation of 19 inspectors from the inaugural Road and Traffic Inspection diploma. He noted that the program equips participants with advanced skills that set them apart from general inspection staff, aligning with global best practices in infrastructure and road safety. Al Othmani stressed that the initiative is preparing a new generation of technical inspectors ready to excel in field inspection and safety, reflecting the authority's ongoing investment in national talent. In his turn, His Excellency Obaid Saeed Al Tunaiji, Director General of Sharjah Municipality, described the diploma as a qualitative leap in training field employees and inspectors, enhancing their expertise and creating significant opportunities for improvement across municipal operations. He highlighted the critical role of specialized national talent in driving government excellence, especially amid Sharjah's rapid urban and population growth. Echoing the same ideas, Salem Abdullah Al Kaabi, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Livestock, emphasized that developing innovative and distinguished Emirati professionals is a core priority for his department. He noted that the diploma program is central to advancing best practices in agriculture and food safety, supporting food security, and optimizing the use of natural resources. Addressing the audience, Dr. Asma Nassiri, Director of the Center for Continuing Education and Professional Development, affirmed that the center, with the support of UoS leadership, is dedicated to ensuring that professional diploma programs provide a comprehensive, hands-on experience that transcends traditional academic boundaries. She explained that the programs were designed and delivered in partnership with leading faculty and industry experts, blending theory with practice in a professional environment aligned with global standards. Strengthening ties with government entities, she said, is crucial to preparing graduates who can meet emerging challenges and deliver tangible value in their fields. Maryam Sultan Al Ali, Employment Expert at the Human Resources Department, added that the diplomas were developed based on careful analysis of government needs, ensuring that training programs are closely aligned with the technical requirements of each role. She described the graduates as a valuable addition to the specialized inspection teams, demonstrating the effectiveness of targeted, competency-based recruitment. The event featured a multimedia presentation documenting the students' journey, followed by a graduate's speech expressing pride in belonging to the University of Sharjah and gratitude for the opportunity to enhance their professional skills. Graduates celebrated the unique blend of in-depth academic content and intensive practical training, praising the quality of the programs delivered in Arabic across University classrooms, central laboratories, and field sites at partner government agencies. The ceremony concluded with the awarding of certificates and commemorative photographs, marking a pivotal milestone in the graduates' professional journeys. The event was attended by Abdullah Ibrahim Al Zaabi, Prof. Esameldin Agamy, Engineer Yousef Khamis Al Othmani, Majid Hamad Al Marri, Salem Abdullah Al Kaabi, Atef Al Zarouni, and a host of academic and administrative leaders, as well as the proud graduates themselves.
