Tennis pro Ben Shelton begs banking giant to allow sister to stay at Wimbledon during viral moment

American tennis pro Ben Shelton has issued a cheeky plea to banking giant Morgan Stanley in the hopes of extending his sister's vacation. Emma Shelton, 24, who works at the company, has become a viral sensation at Wimbledon, after supporting her younger brother courtside throughout the tournament. In London on Saturday, during a post-match interview following Ben's win against Marton Fucsovics, the 22-year-old revealed that Emma, who he described as his 'lucky charm' was scheduled to fly back to the US for work. Ben explained: 'My sister's here. She's been here for every match I've played in this tournament so far. 'She's been the lucky charm. But she has work back in the US starting on Monday. She works for Morgan Stanley.' Loud booing erupted in the crowd as the camera captured Emma, who was seen laughing with her hands over her mouth. 'Ay ay ay! Come on now,' Ben continued, before he jokingly tried to get her out of her work commitment. 'If any of y'all have some connects and can get her a couple extra days off, we're gonna keep this rolling, and that would be great,' said the tennis star. Shelton's parents and his girlfriend, United States women's national soccer team star Trinity Rodman, were also seen laughing at his plea. His lighthearted appeal quickly went viral - and clearly paid off. Ben has since posted a video to his Instagram Stories that showed Emma jumping up and down as he asked her: 'You got the week off or what? Shoutout Morgan Stanley.' On Monday, Emma was spotted back in the stands, cheering Ben on during his fourth-round match against Italy's Lorenzo Sonego. '[Emma's] still around here because Ben's urging probably helped her company, her employer … let her stay a little longer and skip a little more work,' one of the announcers said as cameras zoomed in on Shelton's family. The announcers also discussed the boos that were heard amongst the crowd during Ben's comments. 'Were those boos just because she works back in the US?' one of the announcers asked. 'I am not sure,' another replied. 'But you know what, you gotta keep the rhythm going. A lot of players - they like when they look up at the player's box and see the same people in the same area, time and time again. 'So maybe for Ben it is important to see Emma with mom, dad, coach, in that order.' The dedicated sister, who played tennis at both the University of South Carolina and the University of Florida, is now a digital virtual engagement associate at Morgan Stanley in Georgia, according to her LinkedIn profile. She played two seasons of women's tennis in South Carolina before transferring to the University of Florida, where her father is the head coach of the men's team. During the 2022-23 season - which was her last - Emma was a perfect five to zero in singles play at the Bedford Cup. Ben's plea came just before a British Wimbledon reporter went viral for a 'beyond embarrassing' error during an interview with the young star. Famous British TV presenter Annabel Croft wanted to dive into the athletic background of the No 10-ranked Ben moments after he secured his first Wimbledon quarterfinals appearance on Monday. What was lost in translation between what those in the United Kingdom and the United States refer to as football led to the error. 'I was reading that, in college, you loved your American football and you were a quarterbacker. What are the comparisons? I hope I've got this right. What are the comparisons between tennis and American football?' Annabel said. 'I'm not sure many people in the crowd know what that is,' Ben said, drawing a laugh from the All England Club crowd. 'They use that brown, oval-shaped ball. Sometimes they kick it between the uprights. But yeah, I grew up playing quarterback or quarterbacker, either way.' Before continuing with his response, Ben broke out into laughter, with Annabel needing to drop her microphone as the household name had a massive grin on her face.

Morgan Stanley RTO Policy in Spotlight at Wimbledon

Ben Shelton, ranked No. 10 in the world, is playing in the quarter-final round on Wednesday. Morgan Stanley's return-to-office (RTO) policy is clear: The company's 15,000 advisors and most other employees are expected to be in the office at least four days per week. But what happens if your brother is playing on one of tennis's biggest stages? After winning his fourth-round Wimbledon match on Monday, professional tennis player Ben Shelton, who's ranked No. 10 in the world, asked Morgan Stanley (live on international television) to give his "lucky charm" sister more vacation time to help him continue. He is set to play in the quarter-final on Wednesday against the No. 1-ranked Jannik Sinner. She's been here for every match that I've played this tournament so far," Shelton said. "She's been the lucky charm. But she has work back in the U.S., starting on Monday. She works for Morgan Stanley." Shelton's sister, Emma, works as a Virtual Engagement Associate at Morgan Stanley in Georgia, according to her LinkedIn. "If any of you all have [connections] and get her a couple of extra days off so we can keep this rolling, that'd be great," Shelton continued. It looks like it worked. Later on Instagram, Shelton can be seen asking his sister if she got off work, and she jumps for joy. "Shout out, Morgan Stanley," he said. BBC commentator asks employer of Wimbledon star's sister to give her more time off – after she was booed over job

THE BBC commentator asked Ben Shelton's sister's employer to give her more time off - after she was booed over her job. The American No10 seed booked a Wimbledon quarter-final date with Jannik Sinner. 5 Shelton came from a set down to beat Lorenzo Sonego 3-6 6-1 7-6 7-5 on No1 Court. And in his player box once more again was his sister Emma. After the previous round, Shelton gave a shoutout to his sibling - and revealed she worked for investment banker Morgan Stanley. That led to a hilarious reaction from the crowd who jokingly booed Emma, who covered her face in embarrassment. Shelton said: "My parents are here, my girlfriend's here. Also, my sister's here. She's been here for every match I've played at this tournament so far. "She's been the lucky charm but she has work back in the US starting on Monday. She works for Morgan Stanley... "Hey! Come on now! She works for Morgan Stanley so if any of you all have any connections, get her a couple of days off so she can (stay) we can keep this rolling that would be great." But after beating Sonego, BBC pundit Tracy Austin put out another plea to Morgan Stanley to get Emma a few extra days off - especially if Shelton reaches Sunday's final. She said: "He loves playing on the big stages, he seems to play his best tennis at the Majors because there is more fanfare, more media, more eyeballs on him. "He loves it. He is a physical specimen. "His sister works for Morgan Stanley, and Ben the other day said she is his good-luck charm. "She has to go back to work unless anybody knows the people higher up at Morgan Stanley maybe they can give her an extra few days off. "Morgan Stanley, that's the best thing they could do for Emma." BBC presenter Clare Balding chipped in and agreed: "They've loved it, they have given her the whole week." After beating Sonego, Shelton - who had cupping marks on his shoulder - awkwardly corrected Annabel Croft by confirming he was a "quarterback" rather than a "quarterbacker" in American football. He then said: "That's the most important thing to me. "I don't wanna be out here by myself, I want to be doing it with people I love and I've got a love of people that I love over there." 5 Wimbledon 2025 LIVE - follow all the latest scores and updates from a thrilling fortnight at SW19 Emma sat alongside their parents Bryan and Lisa plus Shelton's new girlfriend and US national team football star Trinity Rodman yet again on Monday. Rodman, the daughter of NBA legend Dennis Rodman, rocked a stunning two-piece blue outfit as she cheered her man on. But BBC commentator Andrew Castle came under fire for referring to her as "Tiffany" instead of "Trinity". Sinner progressed through to the quarters despite injuring his elbow and trailing by two sets against Grigor Dimitrov. But Dimitrov had to retire suddenly after appearing to tear a pectoral muscle while serving early in the third set and withdrew in tears. 5 5
