Arch Manning Sends Clear Message on Texas' WR Room

Arch Manning Sends Clear Message on Texas' WR Room originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Arch Manning boldly announced that he's working on 'serving' his teammates this off-season. But that does not stop him from painting a clear picture of how some of his closest positional teammates are developing. Advertisement Talking about the Texas Longhorns WR room, Manning said, "They've been having a good off-season. Parker (Livingstone) had a really good spring. It's nice to have the addition of Emmett (Mosley). (Ryan) Wingo and D Moore looked good." Longhorns picked up ex-Stanford WR Emmett Mosley from the transfer portal, right after his true freshman year. Beating all ACC true freshmen, he caught 48 catches for 525 yards with 6 touchdowns. Martinez/American-Statesman / USA TODAY NETWORK This move came as Steve Sarkisian and co understood that they needed to bolster the wide receiver room after losing Matthew Golden and Isaiah Bond to the NFL draft. Advertisement But it isn't just the transfer portal that the Longhorns utilized to add to their offensive weaponry. Arch Manning pointed out that there's a freshman to look out for in the Texas WR room. Manning said, "These young guys have stepped up. Kaliq's looking good this summer. So, we're fired up. We got a young but talented group." 5-star recruit Kaliq Lockett is presumed to be an immediate starter for the Longhorns. With a rare 6-foot-7 wingspan for his 6-foot-2 frame, he adds a level of mystique and freshness to their offense. Lockett had a breakout junior year at Sachse High School in Texas where he caught 59 catches for 1,299 yards. Advertisement After that, it was not much of a surprise that he received 33 offers from colleges across the country. Outside Lockett, the Longhorns recruited 4-star Jamie Ffrench who is also expected to contribute early. But the bulk of the responsibility will fall on the returning receivers like Ryan Wingo, DeAndre Moore Jr, Aaron Butler, and Parker Livingstone. The Longhorns also have other returnees, capable of adding serious value, like Ty Boatwright, Rett Anderson, and Bryce Chambers. Despite putting up a great season last year, the Texas offense struggled with drops and lack of separation issues. In key moments, Quinn Ewers was left with very few options. Advertisement Arch Manning will need a much better receiving core and they will have to solve the issue of dropped catches. But from what the Longhorns quarterback is telling the media, it looks like they are set to kick things off against the Ohio State Buckeyes on 30 August 2025. Steve Sarkisian Discusses Why He Feels 'Great' About Texas' WR Room

Steve Sarkisian Discusses Why He Feels 'Great' About Texas' WR Room originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Texas Longhorns will field several new faces in key roles this season. A few of those will make up Texas' wide receiver room after the departures of Matthew Golden, Isaiah Bond, and Silas Bolden to the 2025 NFL Draft this offseason. Two true freshmen and one transfer could now be in line to fill those roles. Advertisement Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian joined the Always College Football podcast this week with Greg McElroy and he sounds extremely confident in the unit heading into the 2025 season. "I feel great about that room. I don't feel good about it. I feel great about that room. Probably better than most people do on the outside," Sarkisian said. Sarkisian specifically noted his confidence in wide receivers Ryan Wingo, DeAndre Moore, and transfer Emmett Mosley. Outside of those crucial players, the Longhorns have solid depth with true freshmen Kaliq Lockett and Jaime Ffrench, and redshirt freshmen Parker Livingstone and Aaron Butler. Advertisement "Ryan Wingo's a budding star," Sarkisian said. "He's big, he's physical, he's fast." Wingo is in line to take over as the No. 1 wide receiver for first-year starting quarterback Arch Manning. However, Sarkisian is known to spread the ball around and several of these players will have to make clutch plays in big-time moments. Texas will kick off the season with a monster matchup against Ohio State in Columbus on Aug. 30. Notre Dame legacy wide receiver Emmett Mosley has entered the transfer portal

Notre Dame legacy wide receiver Emmett Mosley has entered the transfer portal While Notre Dame football has had plenty of success recruiting legacies, it didn't work out the first time with Emmett Mosley. His father Emmett played for the Irish from 1993-1996, while his mother Cindy played soccer for Notre Dame and won the Herman Trophy in 1996. Mosley was a 3-star prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings coming out of high school in California and had an Irish offer, but opted to stay closer to home and signed with the Stanford Cardinal. Mosley had an extremely successful freshman year, which saw him catch 48 passes for 525-yards and 6 touchdowns. Stanford recently announced that Frank Reich was going to take over as head coach on an interim basis, and there have been more than a few players to enter the portal since the news broke which now includes the 6-foot, 2-inch and 190-pound receiver. Notre Dame does have a solid base for its receiving core with Jaden Greathouse and Malachi Fields, but there is plenty of room for another to join the roster. It will be interesting to see if the Irish try and go after Mosley again, as it would make sense to see if there is mutual interest.
