Simcoe County ‘be prepared for severe weather,' Environment Canada says

After days of sweltering heat, parts of Ontario are bracing for a shift in weather. Just before 3 p.m. Friday, Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch for areas across Simcoe County and Muskoka. The national weather agency says conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts and heavy rain. Noting that there may be a risk of a tornado late this afternoon and into the evening. 'Be prepared for severe weather. If threatening weather approaches, take cover in a basement or interior room. Strong winds could down trees, damage buildings, and overturn vehicles. Residents are reminded to continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. With sunny skies on the horizon, the weekend seems promising. Saturday will see cloudy skies with a 40 per cent chance of morning showers. Mainly cloudy into the evening with fog patches developing through the night time. If you are looking for the perfect day to enjoy the sun, skies will be clear on Sunday with a high of 27C, according to Environment Canada.
