The rise of ‘tweakment tourism' to South Korea
W hether or not you're officially on board the K-beauty train, chances are that a Korean influence has crept into your routine. Maybe over the past decade you've mysteriously found yourself drawn to the 'dewy' look. That's mostly down to K-beauty. And if at any point you've purchased a CC cream, a cushion foundation or a sheet mask, then you also have South Korea to thank. But this soft-powerhouse of a country isn't just shaping global beauty trends and exporting some of the most sought-after brands (Laneige, Beauty of Joseon and Erborian, to name a few) to the rest of us. It's also luring tourists into its aesthetics clinics. Beauty isn't so much an industry in South Korea as a way of life. 'There's a mantra there that within a beautiful body rests a beautiful soul,' says Dr Christine Hall, a British-Korean GP who practises aesthetic medicine at the Taktouk Clinic in Knightsbridge. The importance of presenting the best version of yourself is ingrained from young, she explains, and considered a sign of respect for others. 'There are good and bad sides to this — there's a lot of pressure to look good.' It has ultimately led South Korea to be a world leader not only in products but also in treatments: Seoul has more plastic surgeons per capita than anywhere else on the planet. 'It's estimated that South Korea is about 10 to 12 years ahead of us when it comes to beauty innovations. As an example, PDRN [the buzzed-about salmon DNA treatment that has taken off in the UK] arrived in South Korea in 2014. In fact, it was first formulated into a cosmetic injectable there.'

I'm Shocked - The Only Face Tan I Use Is Now Under Half Price In The Amazon Sale
There's no denying that fake tan is a summer staple. Among my bag of essentials sit the Drunk Elephant sunshine drops, Shisiedo's eye masks, Erborian's CC creme and, most importantly, my favourite fake tan – St Tropez's face mist. You might be thinking, fake tan? In the summer? To most, it might seem counterproductive – you can get an equally as good tan sitting outside most of the time – but, for us Brits, who spend most of the supposed 'summer' in a raincoat, fake tan is somewhat of a necessity. My favourite for tanning my face? St Tropez's Purity Face Mist, of course. St Tropez's face mist delivers that just-back-from-the-Med glow. The formula is packed with skin-loving ingredients that won't block your pores, and it actually smells good (which is a nice departure from the usual pungent biscuit smell). The best bit? It's gloriously low-effort. Five to six spritzes, either under or over make-up, and you'll be bronzed in under 12 hours. The easiest way to work it into your skincare routine is to spray the mist over your evening serum, but before your moisturiser. St Tropez, Self Tan Purity Face Mist Price: $9.99 (was £24) St Tropez's bronzing mist is praised for its ultra-lightweight finish and natural-looking tan. Plus, if you're worried about any breakouts while using the mist, worry no more, as it's made with non-pore-blocking ingredients and is enriched with hyaluronic acid. With reviewers dubbing the face mist as 'long-lasting and you don't need much for each application' and 'the best results ever,' it's clear the face mist isn't just my favourite, but is a favourite for over 10,000 others, too. Currently on sale at under £10 in the Amazon Prime Day sale, now's the best time to invest in your summer glow. Holiday booked or not, the St Tropez face mist is your fast-track to that beach break in a bottle, delivering a glow that gives the illusion of time spent somewhere far more glamorous than your commute. How to pull off summer's no make-up look
No make-up make-up is the ultimate beauty oxymoron. Don't expect it to involve fewer products or any less money, but it will most definitely leave you looking your best without seeming overly made-up. In other words, it is perfect for long summer days and lazy holidays. Here's what really works. Stila All About The Blur StickNow this is a little stick of magic that goes on clear, mattifies and gives a soft-focus finish but without pigment. Use on shiny T-zones on warmer days and watch pores, unwanted shine and sweat disappear. £28.50; Merit The Uniform Tinted Mineral Sunscreen SPF50This tinted sunscreen has taken the beauty cognoscenti by storm this summer. Why? Because it truly works on all skin shades and gives a flattering finish, especially on sensitive and oilier skin. It's not a primary SPF but ideal for an added layer of sun protection. It looks great on the go, comes in 15 shades and is a multifunction summertime saver. £34; Erborian CC CrèmeSeeing is believing with this little beauty from the wildly popular Korean brand. It goes on looking like a moisturiser yet turns to a lightly pigmented, Instagram-esque 'Paris filter' for your face. Just recently it has been reduced in price. It comes in four shades but more are promised later this year. I tested this on This Morning and every male presenter wanted to take one home. Your skin on its best day in a tube. £38; • Caroline Hirons: Britain's most powerful beauty expert House of Hur Moist Ampoule BlusherThis is the serum soft-tint liquid blusher that took TikTok by storm as the much more reasonably priced alternative to Armani. It comes in three shades and is gorgeous: super-flattering and sheer, it blends Korean hydrating skincare with a hint of a tint. £15; Jane Iredale Just Kissed Lip and Cheek StainThis lip balm goes on sheer but reacts to the pH of your lips to create a flattering, slightly intensified version of your lip colour. What's more, it acts as a lipcare balm at the same time to stave off the threat of dry, parched lips. £35, in four shades; Chanel Les Beiges Water-Fresh TintChanel has trouble keeping this in stock the minute the sun shines because it is such a cult product. It adds a hint of a tint, a hit of hydration and a healthy glow. Add concealer for more coverage, but this is the type of base you can wear on the beach and not look as if you're wearing a scrap of make-up (just great skin). £55, in eight shades; 19/99 Lash Tint MascaraNow this is clever: a mascara that is so subtle it can be worn in your brows too. It looks more like a lash tint as it adds colour but no volume or length, for a really natural and pretty look. It's tubing too, so no telltale smudges on hot and sweaty days. Better yet, it will rinse away with just warm water when you want. This is a brilliant Canadian brand that specialises in multipurpose products that are affordable too. £14, in three shades; • Read more beauty product reviews and advice from our experts Wonderskin FYP Translucent PowderI don't care how natural you look, you never want to be sweaty or shiny, and this totally translucent powder will work over even the most subtle base and on any skin tone. I discovered this when chatting to the make-up legend Val Garland, who keeps it in her SOS kit on set both for her own face when filming Glow Up and for models on cover shoots. £18; Glossier Shadow Stick Sometimes you need just a touch of shadow to define the eye in the lash line and in the crease of both eyes. This comes in five shades with music-themed names: try Riff for contouring – it's the ideal neutral shade that creates shadow and definition, blends easily, stays in place and doesn't really look like eyeshadow. £22; Find @nadinebaggott on Instagram and YouTube where she answers all your beauty questions

Louise Thompson's highlighter makes you look like you've ‘had 8 hours sleep'
Louise Thompson has shared her secret to concealing dark under-eye circles, with her 'amazing' go-to concealer helping her looking refreshed and awake in seconds Dark circles are something we all get from time to time, whether it's genetics or just a bad night's sleep, so finding a way to cover them is usually something everyone needs to do once in a while. If you're tired of your under-eyes looking cakey with regular concealer, Louise Thompson has shared the perfect product to cover up dark circles and make you look more awake in seconds. Posting on Instagram, the former Made in Chelsea star raved about Rodial's Lowlighter (£38), writing: 'This product is AMAZING under the eyes if you look tired.' She then added: 'The best product if you want to look like you've had 8+ hours sleep.' The colour correcting concealer helps to visibly blur and brighten the area, melting into your skin and making it easy to blend out for subtle-looking coverage. The radiant finish helps brighten up dark circles, and its hydrating ingredients mean you don't end up creasing or looking dry and cakey. Apart from covering up dark circles and blemishes, the Rodial Lowlighter also helps improve the look of your skin underneath. It contains hyaluronic acid and vitamin E which plump and smooth fine lines and provide additional hydration, whilst caffeine helps reduce the appearance of puffiness. Originally coming in the shade banana – which became a cult favourite product for makeup fans everywhere – it now also comes in two additional shades, peach and latte. Banana has soft yellow undertones, whilst peach has (surprise surprise) peach undertones, and latte caters to warm caramel undertones. If you want a greater shade range, REFY's Concealer comes in 24 different colours. Whilst it's not specifically designed for the under-eye area, it has a serum-based formula that hydrates, brightens and blurs. For those who prefer a lighter coverage, Erborian's CC Eye Clair is £27 and helps to restore your eye area's radiance whilst caring for your skin. It helps fade the appearance of dark circles and puffiness, and evens out skin tone for a natural-looking finish. Meanwhile Zoeva's Baby Fresh Eyes Under Eye Brightening Corrector is £24 and instantly neutralises dark circles, rather than just covering them up. The results last for hours, and it works to brighten, hydrate and de-puff your skin whilst you wear it so your skin looks even better after use. However LookFantastic shoppers seems to be a big fan of Louise's go-to Rodial Lowlighter, writing: 'Great coverage, doesn't sink into lines around eyes. Lasts all day!' Another agreed: 'Amazing product. Brightens and lightens under eye area. Also use on age spots and fading acne scars.' Some found it less useful, saying: 'I like the way it glides under eye and leaves a glow and hides dark circles. A little runny for me so use it with another product.' Others said: 'Offers good coverage, but can be heavy in parts.' However others loved it, writing: 'I'm 37 and suffer with dark circles under my eyes. This is my first time trying this product and I'm so happy with it. It has brightened my eyes beautifully.'
