Pride 2025: what to wear to look fabulous and chic
Fellow fashion designer Erdem made waves recently when he announced that he would be designing a limited-edition tee in association with queer bookshop Gay's the Word. Yes, it's £75, but all proceeds go towards charities 'close to the heart of the house' – that is, Not A Phase, which supports trans+ adults, and akt, which provides support for queer youths at risk of or experiencing homelessness.

There's A White Cotton Summer Dress For Everyone – Here Are 5 Of The Best Styles To Buy Now
In 2024 we had Brat Summer: this year, it's the season of the white cotton summer dress. It's not as catchy, sure, but it's also considerably less sweaty. From minimal maxis to crisp poplin shirt dresses, the white cotton dress is the sartorial equivalent of air conditioning – a welcome respite from the cling of acrylic. (As the owner of one too many vintage nylon dresses, I am speaking from experience.) If the SS25 catwalks were anything to go by, designers are in agreement. Most ubiquitous was the white cotton shirt dress, which manifested in mini, midi and maxi forms at Alaïa, Bottega Veneta, and Erdem, respectively. More classic iterations made way for styles with a difference – a flounced hem, split sleeves, or statement cuffs, as seen on Elle Fanning at Cannes last month. The minimal maxi is another sound option for the white summer dress purists among you – it bears no unnecessary decoration, only exaggerated proportions and one or two interesting details. See Brioni's totally perfect, tent-like T-shirt dress or Khaite's very compelling tunic, which appeared on the runway layered atop a pair of silk trousers. For something with a little more romance, we present the white cotton nightie dress – the more demure cousin of the slinky slip. See Bella Hadid's collab with Frankie's bikini, or Harling Ross's collection with If Only If. Equally lovely would be a Broderie Anglaise dress, as seen at 3.1 Phillip Lim, or something with lace cutwork, as at Tove. And if you're not totally ready to relinquish Brat Summer, may we suggest a bubble hem. Alberta Ferretti and Carven proved that the white cotton summer dress can be all sorts of fun via the gathered-hem dresses they showed for SS25. Ready to slip into something a little more comfortable? Here is our edit of the best white cotton summer dresses. Easy, breezy, and not a bead of sweat in sight. Bristol-based vintage seller DuLievre's edit of antique French cotton dresses is unrivalled, while Smock London, Faune and If Only If all make modern iterations. Wear yours with a pair of block-colour ballet flats, chunky silver jewellery, and a basket bag. You can't go wrong with a crisp cotton-poplin shirt dress. Follow the simple but effective styling at Simkhai and style a sweeping maxi with a skinny black belt or do like Alaïa's Pieter Mulier, who dressed up flouncy mini dresses with strappy mules and layered necklaces. The minimal maxi's allure lies in an interesting silhouette – something with oversized proportions or an open back or split sleeves, for example. You'd be forgiven for mistaking styles by Arket for The Row and Khaite, especially when paired with leather flip flops and a single cuff. Spend all of summer in Broderie Anglaise, either in the form of a demure midi dress (with scarlet ballet flats) or something flirtier and thigh-grazing (with Nineties-inspired mules). A white lace dress will do nicely, too. Play with opacity by layering a coloured slip beneath – or, more daringly, not at all. Another bubble-hem summer is upon us, and we're not complaining; this playful detail makes the simplest of white cotton dresses that much more fun. Team Free People's white cotton mini with sleek flip flops and sea-salt hair, or try Cos's midi with jelly shoes and a beaded necklace. Huma Abedin Is Married! Inside the Final Fittings of Her Givenchy and Erdem Wedding Dresses
Shortly after the engagement party the couple decided they'd have two ceremonies in the Hamptons: a small one with family and close friends to sign the Nikah in honor of Abedin's Muslim faith and the Ketubah in honor of Soros's Jewish heritage, and a larger celebration the following day inclusive of a cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing. For the smaller gathering, 'I'm wearing this ethereal, unbelievable Erdem dress,' Abedin says. She fell in love with the label about a decade ago while working in D.C. 'I had to give a very, very stressful testimony on Capitol Hill, and I was very nervous about it,' she says. 'I wanted to feel and look my best. I remember going into [a] store and finding the most extraordinary black dress with white floral on it. It was Erdem.' At first, Abedin was a little overwhelmed by the task of deciding on her wedding looks—but she felt wholly at ease during her first appointment with Moralıoğlu, which was held in February at Erdem's London atelier. 'The minute I walked in, I just felt very relaxed,' Abedin recalls. 'He had so much love, care and attention in the way he approached me.' Moralıoğlu, who also dressed Abedin for the 2024 Met Gala, presented Abedin with a series of sketches he had drawn based on references she shared during a previous conversation—among them Grace Kelly's wedding dress. The belt of Abedin's Givenchy dress was adjusted to sit slightly higher on the silhouette. Photographed by Carl Timpone Despite initially planning to forego a veil, Abedin fell in love with a custom Givenchy shroud. Photographed by Carl Timpone 'During the initial fitting, we explored different silhouettes to help define the shape and understand how she wanted to feel in the dress,' the designer says. Several Zoom meetings and a handful of custom swatch options later, they landed on a 1930s-esque long-sleeve silhouette, marked by a high neck and a delicate bow around the waist. 'For the fabric, we selected a beautiful French Chantilly lace—crafted in a historic mill in Caudry, dating back to 1840—and mounted it on a smooth Italian silk crepe. We wanted the lace to feel light and delicate, capturing a sense of movement as she walks.' Hidden details imbue the gown with more sentimental touches. 'The thing that made me gasp when I saw the dress is that [Moralıoğlu] embroidered my father's name in Arabic, inside, right by my heart,' Abedin says. 'My father passed away in 1993 and he was a very instrumental person in my life. I think about him every day.' Abedin and Soros's initials are also embroidered inside the dress, in light blue thread on a delicate ribbon, as the bride's something blue. 'The entire process felt incredibly collaborative and seamless,' Moralıoğlu says, '[and] the dress is everything we had envisioned—graceful, classic, and quietly powerful. It is a joy to be a small part of Huma's special day.'

The Loftiest Looks From the Resort (aka Cruise) 2026 Runway Shows and Lookbooks
Resort may be considered an "off" season, but the looks it delivers are definitely something to write home about. Some may argue that designers save their finest creations for haute couture along with spring and summer. Those people are missing out, though. Part of the resort charm may just be because the collections are frequently displayed in far-off destinations, whether up on a runway or in lookbook form. In order to save you time because there are tons of ensembles to discover and you probably already have a pretty full plate, we took it upon ourselves to compile the definitive list of the best Resort 2026 looks. Erdem Resort 2026. Not all of the looks are vacation-ready. We're OK with that, though. Although Chanel is an exception. Its studio team obviously took the term "cruise" seriously. Spring staple florals definitely made their presence felt. Erdem naturally leads the charge as flowers are part of its DNA. This season the bouquets are very moody, tapping into the previously highlighted negative space floral print trend. Chanel took a brooch approach, while Diesel's arrangement looks like it came straight out of the mid aughts. Victoria Beckham Resort 2026. You'll be happy to hear that the no pants look is the exception, no longer the rule. Victoria Beckham is one of the outliers, but there's something adherently appealing about pairing a pistachio-colored, floor-length coat with a slightly lighter button-down half tucked into coordinating briefs. Louis Vuitton sent high-waist knit hot pants down its runway combined with a knitted top and knitted flower accents. Courrèges' contribution is an extreme high-low maxi, er, miniskirt complemented by a black shirt and white slingback flats. Then there's Antonio Marras. The brand topped off swimwear with colorful sweaters featuring a delightful destination design. A quick side note. Not many designers decided to include swimsuits in their lineups. Naeem Khan Resort 2026. While a majority of looks are designed for the daylight hours, there are several outfits begging to be taken out for a night on the town. Get your plunging neckline fix with Gucci's long-sleeve gown or Victoria Beckham's twisted, sleeveless red dress. Pants more your thing? See Naeem Khan's splashy ensemble. If there are any thoughts about having a destination wedding, look to Chanel for inspiration. Following in the tradition of the haute couture shows, the famous French fashion house opted to send a wedding dress down the catwalk as its final look. The off-white, mock-neck creation is jazzed up with layers of long necklaces and over-the-elbow opera gloves. Chanel Cruise 2026. Ready to be inspired? How to wear a floral midi dress in your 50s without looking dated
Those pesky fashionistas have been prophesying the floral midi dress' demise for a few years now. Muttering about them being 'over'. Making snide comments about their 'basic' nature. I've been ignoring such whisperings because I love them. Floral midi dresses are my dream garment. A single piece of clothing (less washing!) that's easy to throw on. You can dial up their smartness with heels or make them casual with sandals or trainers. For me, they're flattering because they show off my narrowest part (ribcage) and skim over the fullest (my hips). And, bonus, I only have to shave/tan my legs from the knee down. When the trend hit, probably five or so years ago, I welcomed their arrival with trumpets. Rejoiced that the style stars had aligned for me. And so, I invested heavily. Bought cheap ones from Zara, mid-priced ones from Wyse, expensive ones from Ba&sh and dreamt of Erdem and Valentino. At the time, it was a departure from my usual, Kate Moss-inspired style. In my fantasies, I have her wardrobe. Chic, sexy and a little bit rock n roll. Think sheer chiffon blouses, pencil skirts, high heels, patterned tights, leather and suede. And all black. Made edgy with distressed seams and a flash of lingerie. But then the arrival of these floral dresses convinced me to do a style 180 and embrace overt femininity. I was happy with my decision. Until last year, when the white trainer/ floral dress combo suddenly felt a bit, whisper it, dated. This year, when the weather finally perked up, I looked in my wardrobe, crammed with floral dresses and I did an involuntary sigh. Did I need to do a cull? Take the whole lot to the charity shop? I have been mulling over this conundrum for the last few weeks, and I have decided the answer is a resolute no. My finances can't deal with the sudden loss of 80% of my wardrobe. So, I consulted with my stylist friends, and we concluded that by switching up my accessories/approach, the floral midi can live to see another season. The most important thing is not to be too 'polite' with the look. Being too conservative (court shoes/blow out, etc) is what makes it look dated. Try teaming your dress with boots to counterbalance the femininity. Ankle boots in suede have an 'I'm with the band' vibe. Try Isabel Marant's styles if you can afford them (or a copy if you can't). Biker boots also work. Change up your trainers. The plain white ones you had a few years ago? Switch to a chunkier, more sporty style. Embrace boho. If you are buying a new floral dress, take inspiration from the aesthetic at Chloé and Zimmerman. Think ethereal, flouncy, and romantic. Look to add elements of 90s style to your floral dress. Sheer fabrics for an edge, or try out a slip shape. Your hair is important here. A little mussed-up hair a la Sienna Miller is good. Newsreader style helmet head? Not so much. Lingerie accents make a dress instantly feel sexier. Think lace, silk and spaghetti straps.
