Disgusting ‘BBL smell' side effect might make people reconsider getting popular surgery
Do you smell that? The Brazilian butt lift (BBL) surgery is a procedure that enhances the size and shape of someone's rear end through a fat transfer. It's often considered a dangerous procedure by experts since there's a possibility of death, infection and more. Advertisement BBL surgeries are popular but there is a gross side effect that many people don't realize patients can get. xartproduction – Not only is a BBL surgery risky — but there's one bizarre, rather gross, side effect that comes from it that might make potential patients reconsider getting it done. 'The BBL smell is real,' Dr. Eric Anderson from Chicago-based Impressions Face + Body told the Daily Mail. Advertisement This unexpected side effect is often described as a musty or sour smell, according to South Shore Plastic Surgery. The team of experts there said a smell is often expected for BBL patients after sweating or sitting for long periods. But there are a variety of other factors, like tissue death — which is a BBL complication — and unhygienic habits, that could cause someone with a BBL to have a smelly behind, according to Anderson. A rancid smell can come from a BBL surgery for a few reasons. deagreez – Advertisement If a patient was 'overfilled with fat during the procedure,' fat necrosis — which is when fatty tissue in the butt dies — can occur. As a result, a rancid smell can develop. 'When there is more fat in an area than the blood supply allows, the fat will die through a smelly process called fat necrosis, which can lead to infections that need antibiotics, hospitalizations, and even sepsis,' he told the outlet. Advertisement Another more obvious cause is that BBL patients might struggle cleaning their derrières. If patients leave any residual stool or urine on the skin — bacteria can grow, which will cause a stinky smell, according to South Shore Plastic Surgery. Cevre Hospital recommends that people with a BBL use gentle, fragrance-free wet wipes or a bidet to properly clean themselves after using the bathroom. While many potential risks come with getting a BBL, one woman revealed that she underwent two BBL surgeries because the first one 'died.' 'A lot of the fat that's re-injected into your buttocks actually dies — like 50% or sometimes more,' Scarlet Black said in a TikTok video. 'For [this BBL] we focused on lifting [my butt] up and putting volume in it.' Black doesn't seem to mind having to go under the knife twice for the same procedure because she apparently has spent $36,000 on plastic surgeries to achieve her dream body.

Former Baltimore church pastor indicted for child sex abuse allegations from 1980
A former Baltimore church pastor was indicted in Massachusetts on child sex abuse charges, according to the Berkshire District Attorney's Office. Eric Anderson, a former pastor at Greater Grace World Outreach church, is facing two counts of assault and battery on a child under 14. The charges stem from incidents that allegedly occurred in June 1980, Julia Sabourin with the attorney's office said. Baltimore church reacts to former pastor's indictment At the time of the alleged crimes, Anderson lived and worked at the church's headquarters in Massachusetts, according to our partners at the Baltimore Banner. In a statement, officials at Greater Grace World Outreach church said they were not aware of any sexual assault allegations against Anderson being reported to current or former employees. Officials said they learned through news reports that concerns were raised to a dorm parent around the time of the alleged offense in 1980. Church officials said they have taken several actions in response to the allegations, including determining if they can find any information relevant to the investigation. "We have communicated with GRACE to ask that, should they find any information relevant to the criminal investigation, that it be proactively forwarded to the police, regardless of whether the information would trigger mandatory reporting," church officials said. The church also notified law enforcement of their desire to help in the investigation, should it be needed. Additional allegations against church employees This is not the first time that a Greater Grace World Outreach employee has been the subject of sexual misconduct allegations. According to the Baltimore Banner, an independent investigation into the church's handling of sexual offense allegations is ongoing. The banner reported that the church expelled two pastors who were previously accused of sexual offenses. "As GRACE is continuing their work in investigating and assessing, we have engaged experts in the field to begin the work of updating and revising policies and intentionally learning, knowing that this will be a journey and is not a 'box to check,'" church officials said in a statement.

GDOT says I-16 infrastructure improvements will not have impact on hurricane evacuations
The Georgia Department of Transportation announced in May, a $450 million plan to widen 32.5 miles of I-16 from two to three lanes both directions. The improvements will stretch from the I-95 interchange to State Route 67 near Denmark and will help alleviate traffic congestion along the corridor. The project will span four counties (Bryan, Bulloch, Chatham and Effingham). According to GDOT, construction is slated to begin in 2027. Kyle Collins of GDOT said funding was advanced in the fiscal year 2024 state general fund budget. GDOT's website shows $30 million has been budgeted for preliminary engineering. "Currently, these improvements would be almost all state DOT will take those funds as far as possible in this corridor," said Collins. More: Stephen Nottingham of FREN Foundation shares vision for interactive park for Richmond Hill The highway not only serves much of the state as the most direct access to Savannah and the Georgia coast, but is also a thoroughfare that motorists use when evacuating from hurricanes. It is also a key route for the state's freight network to the ports in Savannah and Brunswick. According to GDOT, existing traffic numbers currently range from 31,000 to 50,000 daily and is expected to rise to 52,000 to 99,000 under no build conditions. Collins said expected growth in the region prompted staff to prioritize the project but Eric Anderson, who lives on the north end of Bryan County, feels planning of the project should have begun years ago. "My concerns are that when they started approving all the warehouses and the attempt for Volvo and then eventually Hyundai, that is when this should have been discussed," said Anderson. "They have approved and built too much too fast and they are now woefully unprepared and it is going to cause even more traffic issues because they waited until after the fact." Residents such as Cindy Schnur Harrison said construction fatigue has begun to set in. 'I realize I-16 needs to be widened to three lanes but for those of us who live along or near the Highway 280/I-16 area, we are so sick and tired of the construction, excessive traffic, traffic jams and accidents,' said Harrison. 'I can't imagine how the traffic will be if and when I-16 widening begins. The traffic problems won't just be in our area but will be on-going for miles and miles to months and years. I think we all would just like a break for a while.' Construction of the I-16 at Old Cuyler Road Interchange will begin the third quarter of this year and has a two-year timeline. However, Collins said that project should be wrapping up before widening of the I-16 corridor begins. More: Highway 21, Old River Road and Blue Jay Road listed in study for major road improvements 'Construction should be ramping down on the new Old Cuyler Interchange in the early months of 2027 as it is beginning on a potential I-16 reconstruction section on the I-95 end of the corridor,' said Collins. Harrison also expressed concern regarding the overpasses. Collins confirmed 20 bridges will be repaired simultaneously with the road improvements, meaning there will be traffic impacts. Collins said GDOT will mitigate traffic congestion stemming from the project with lane closure hours, among other things. Some residents expressed concern on social media about what impact the project would have if residents needed to leave due to a storm. In years past, evacuation orders have put thousands of motorists on I-16 and at some points, bringing it to a standstill. However, Collins said widening of the corridor will not impact the state's ability to implement its evacuation plans. That process includes contraflow on I-16 east and west bound lanes from Savannah to U.S. 441 in Dublin, totaling 125 miles. GDOT will also mobilize 300-500 employees to set up specialized equipment, a number of staff members will begin working 12-hour shifts and maintenance crews will be on hand to clear debris from roads.
