Eritrean Community Festival in Scandinavian Countries Concludes
The 27th annual Eritrean Community Festival in the Scandinavian countries, held from 24 July in Stockholm, concluded with a vibrant expression of national unity and patriotism. The festival featured seminars, a photo exhibition showcasing national development programs and the activities of the Eritrean community in the Scandinavian countries, children's and youth programs, exhibitions by villages representing Eritrea's ethnic groups and national organizations, as well as cultural and artistic performances by a cultural troupe from Eritrea. Speaking at the concluding event, Mr. Mohammed-Ali Mohammed-Seid, Chargé d'Affaires at the Eritrean Embassy, said the yearly Eritrean Community Festival is an event that promotes national identity and values. He commended the members of the coordinating committee for organizing the colorful national event despite various challenges. Ms. Tsigereda Berhe, Secretary of the National Holidays Coordinating Committee, stated that the success of the festival reflects the strong participation and commitment of the Eritrean community, as well as the noble Eritrean culture of sharing and mutual support. The festival was attended by over 28,000 nationals from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Finland, as well as from various European countries and the United States. Commemoration of Martyrs Day by Diaspora Nationals
Eritrean nationals residing in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, Germany, Scandinavian countries, and the United States, as well as Eritrea's Permanent Representative to the African Union and the Economic Commission for Africa, commemorated Martyrs Day. According to reports, at commemorative events held in Sweden, Denmark, and Norway, the nationals pledged to augment the Martyrs Trust Fund and continue their support to the families of martyrs. Nationals in Sweden contributed over 104 thousand Kroner towards Martyrs Trust Fund. Eritrean nationals in various German cities also organized walkathons, candlelight vigils, and cultural and artistic performances in memory of the martyrs. At the Berlin event, certificates of recognition were awarded to individuals who assumed responsibility for supporting the families of martyrs. Nationals in Dubai and the Northern Emirates commemorated Martyrs Day with great spirit on19 June, featuring candlelight vigils and cultural programs. They also expressed their readiness to uphold the trust of the martyrs through supporting families of martyrs and hard work. Similarly, nationals in Kuwait commemorated Martyrs Day with great pride. Members of the Eritrean Embassy in Ethiopia, along with Eritrea's Permanent Representative to the African Union and the Economic Commission for Africa, also marked Martyrs Day with patriotic zeal. Eritrean nationals across various U.S. cities commemorated the day, pledging to strengthen their participation and contributions to support the families of martyrs. Eritreans in Various Countries Celebrate Independence Day Anniversary
Eritrean nationals in various cities across Germany, the Netherlands, South Africa, Belgium, and the United States have celebrated the 34th Independence Day anniversary with patriotic zeal under the theme 'Our Cohesion – Our Armour.' Nationals residing in the German cities of Berlin, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Stuttgart, Kassel, Mannheim, Hamburg, Ulm, Giessen, and others marked the occasion with children's programs that reflected the meaning and significance of independence, youth-centered activities, and cultural and artistic performances. Mr. Yohannes Woldu, Chargé d'Affaires at the Eritrean Embassy in Germany; Mr. Kibreab Tekeste, Eritrea's Consul General in Frankfurt; and Mr. Teame Haile, Head of Public and Community Affairs, delivered speeches during the events in Cologne and Düsseldorf. Participants emphasized that the Eritrean people achieved their independence and national sovereignty through unity and resilience and expressed their readiness to contribute to national affairs. Nationals in the Dutch cities of Amsterdam, Amersfoort, and Leiden also celebrated the anniversary enthusiastically, featuring diverse programs to mark the occasion. Mr. Negasi Kassa, Eritrea's Ambassador to the European Union and Benelux countries, stated that the vibrant Independence Day festivities both at home and abroad reflect the heavy sacrifices made for independence. He called on nationals to strengthen unity and fulfill their national responsibilities. In South Africa, Eritrean communities in Johannesburg, Durban, Rustenburg, Kokstad, and Cape Town celebrated the 34th Independence Day anniversary on 24 May. During the event in Johannesburg, which saw wide participation, Mr. Saleh Omar, Eritrea's Ambassador to South Africa, addressed the gathering and praised the efforts of the organizing committee. At a celebratory event held in Brussels, Belgium, Mr. Isaias Kidane, Chairman of the Eritrean Community, and Mr. Negasi Kassa, Eritrea's Ambassador to the European Union and Benelux countries, delivered speeches reflecting on the significance of independence and the message it conveys. Similarly, nationals in Central and Western U.S. cities including Kansas, Saint Louis, Columbus, Cincinnati, Dayton, and Chicago celebrated the occasion with cultural and artistic programs. Independence Day Anniversary Celebration by Diaspora Nationals
Nationals residing in Switzerland, Canada, Angola, and France have celebrated the 34th Independence Day anniversary with patriotic zeal under the theme 'Our Cohesion – Our Armour.' The celebratory event in Geneva, Switzerland, was attended by over 4,600 nationals, members of the diplomatic community, and friends of Eritrea. Speaking at the event, Mr. Habtom Zeray, Chargé d'Affaires at the Eritrean Embassy and Permanent Representative of Eritrea to the UN Offices and other International Organizations, congratulated the people and Government of Eritrea and its Defense Forces. He noted that Independence Day, beyond festivity, is a time to review the progress made in fulfilling the objectives of the mission.
