Delightful Trailer for Richard Linklater's BLUE MOON Starring Ethan Hawke and Margaret Qualley — GeekTyrant

A delightful trailer has been released for director Richard Linklater's latest film, Blue Moon , starring Ethan Hawke, Andrew Scott, Margaret Qualley, Bobby Cannavale, and Giles Surridge. The film reunites Linklater and Ethan Hawke after the pair made the Before Sunrise trilogy, as well as Boyhood and other projects. While Linklater is known for writing and directing heartfelt fictional dramas, this new film is based on a true story. The synopsis reads: 'Richard Linklater's Blue Moon tells the story of the legendary lyricist Lorenz Hart bravely facing the future as his professional and private life unravel during the opening night party for his former partner Richard Rodgers' hit stage show, Oklahoma! . In 100 minutes, the film unspools in real-time the events in Sardi's bar on the evening of March 31st, 1943. 'It is a meditation on friendship, art & love, featuring a rich tapestry of writers, actors, musicians, friends and protégés – a parade of the famous and the soon-to-be-famous. By the time this night is over, Hart will have confronted both a world irrevocably changed by the war, and the seeming impossibility of love.' This looks like a great movie, and it has already received great reviews out of its premiere at the 2025 Berlin Film Festival. Check out the trailer below, and watch Blue Moon in select theaters this fall, on October 17th.

'Best chemistry ever' in 'charming' film with 100% Rotten Tomatoes rating

Before Sunrise, starring Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy, is the first film in the Before trilogy and has become synonymous with love and romance over the years Director Richard Linklater's Before Sunrise, the inaugural film of the acclaimed Before trilogy, is often hailed as the quintessence of romantic cinema by enthusiasts. ‌ The 1995 romantic drama, penned by Linklater and Kim Krizan, features Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy in a captivating lead duo. Set against the picturesque backdrop of Vienna, the film chronicles the fleeting connection between two strangers over the course of an evening as they meander through the city. ‌ Drawing from his personal life, Linklater is said to have modelled the story on a night he spent roaming Philadelphia with a woman. The casting of Hawke and Delpy as the protagonists was a meticulous process that spanned nine months. ‌ The narrative continued with Before Sunset in 2004 and concluded with Before Midnight in 2013, cementing the trilogy's status as a touchstone for cinematic romance. Julie Delpy shared insights into her creative input during a Guardian interview: "Richard, Ethan and I produced the script together, though Ethan and I weren't credited for Before Sunrise. The process was totally collaborative: all three of us had to agree on ideas for scenes. That's how we did Before Sunset and Before Midnight, too. If one of us hated something, it wouldn't make the film. From the start, those guys wanted the balance of a proper female voice.", reports the Express. Before Sunrise has not only won over critics, securing a flawless 100 per cent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but also charmed viewers, boasting an impressive 93 per cent audience score. ‌ One critic hailed the film as "utterly charming", while another was captivated by its subtle magic: "The charm - the midsummer enchantment - never feels forced; it steals up and wins you. A true romance." Another reviewer declared it "undoubtedly one of the most romantic movies of all time", with yet another adding: "There are so many perfect moments in this film; it is hard to list them without excluding others." ‌ Director Richard Linklater received heaps of praise, with a critic noting: "Seemingly improvised and entirely natural but still structured and splendidly directed by writer Richard Linklater." The lead actors also received high acclaim for their captivating performances: "Hawke and Delpy keep the tone not only afloat but mesmerising. So natural are their performances that it seems impossible not to believe they truly are soulmates who are locked in a doomed, all-too-short affair." In a candid 2022 interview with The Independent, Ethan Hawke reflected on his deep connection to the film, stating: "There's a lot of myself and my reality in those movies [the Before trilogy]. They're as deeply connected to me as anything could be. I can't look at Before Sunrise now without remembering, so vividly, that time period. Who I was then is so different from who I am now; it's difficult for me to watch it and exorcise it from my actual life." ‌ One fan was utterly captivated by the film, awarding it top marks and sharing: "10/10. I wanted to focus on the incredible love story that is Before Sunrise. Richard Linklater found a special energy and aura when creating this masterpiece. There is something so beautiful and honest with this film. I can't explain it, and neither can anyone who's ever watched this film." Another viewer was equally impressed, stating: "Nothing else quite catches the true essence of romance like Before Sunrise did." An audience review concurred with the high praise, declaring: "Definitely the best romance movie of all time." The lead actors' connection also drew admiration, with another fan expressing: "Ethan Hawke and Julie Dehpy have maybe the best chemistry in a movie I have ever seen, it all feels so natural. The direction is incredible, the script is one of the best I have ever seen, the city feels like a person and the locations are beautiful, but still grounded." For those looking to experience the magic themselves, Before Sunrise is available for rent on Apple TV+ and Amazon Prime Video at £3.49.

Uma Thurman opens up about 'beautiful' motherhood and the 'mind-boggling' difference between how she parents compared to her own upbringing

Uma Thurman has opened up about how 'beautiful' motherhood and compared her parenting to her own upbringing. The Kill Bill star, 55, shares two children with actor Ethan Hawke, Maya, 26, and Levon, 23, and 13-year-old daughter Luna with financier Arpad Busson. And speaking to The Sunday Times, Uma has spoken about how her life has changed from her younger days in Hollywood since becoming a mother. 'It's beautiful and there's not that much time left in the day,' Uma said, but she is now looking towards what life will be like once all her children have flown the nest, in what she calls the 'sunset period'. Uma is planning what she will do when her time isn't spent 'shopping and driving and emailing teachers and all the things we do'. But elsewhere, Uma shared that she often compares how she parents her children to the 'mind-boggling' freedoms she enjoyed as a teenager. Uma revealed she used to travel into the city on her own as a teenager to audition with just a quarter in case she got lost. She said: 'Mind-boggling, I mean, it's unimaginable, those were different times.' It comes after Uma was joined by her rarely seen daughter Luna at the opening night of Eurydice at the Signature Theatre in New York City in May. The actress and her youngest stepped out to support her oldest daughter Maya ahead of her Off-Broadway debut. Maya starred as the titular character in Sarah Ruhl's adaptation of the classic Greek myth, which ran until June 22. Walking the red carpet head of the show, Uma looked effortlessly chic in a wool coat, which she teamed with smart trousers. Smiling for photos beside her mum, Luna opted for a black top and a pair of straight leg jeans. Maya looked stunning in a draped, satin midi dress which she teamed with a matching rust-coloured umbrella and heels. Uma's two older children, Maya and Levon - whom she shares with her ex-husband Ethan Hawke — are well known for having followed their famous parents into acting. It comes after Uma was joined by her rarely seen daughter Luna at the opening night of Eurydice at the Signature Theatre in New York City in May But she has cultivated a far more private existence for her youngest daughter Luna, whom she shares with her ex, the French hedge fund manager Arpad Busson, 62. A rare exception occurred in 2023 at the New York City premiere of Wes Anderson's critically acclaimed comedy Asteroid City, which Maya had a small role in. Even though Luna isn't usually spotted at similar events, this time she was seen posing for photographers. While little is known about Luna, Uma previously opened up about why she decided to give her daughter four middle names. 'Maya came up with the best excuse, which was that I probably wouldn't get to have any more children, so I just put every name that I liked into Luna's,' she told Jimmy Fallon during a Tonight Show appearance. 'We couldn't quite agree on the name, so we call her Luna. She's lucky that way.' Uma and her financier ex Arpad Busson began their on–off relationship back in 2007, and revealed that they were engaged in June of the following year, but they called off the engagement in 2009. The split was short-lived, though, and Uma and Arpad reunited in 2010, with the engagement back on. Luna arrived in 2012, but her parents still hadn't married by 2014, when they called it off their engagement for a second time and seemingly split for good. In early 2017, Uma and Arpad became engaged in a custody battle over their youngest child, with The Pulp Fiction star ultimately receiving primary physical custody of Luna. Prior to dating Arpad, Thurman was married twice: from 1990 to 1992 to Oscar winner Gary Oldman, and then from 1998 to 2005 to Ethan Hawke after they met on the set of their 1997 sci-fi drama Gattaca. They welcomed Maya in 1998 and Levon in 2002, before separating in 2003. Prior to his relationship with Uma, Arpad's best-known partner was Elle Macpherson, whom he was together with from 1996 to 2005 and shared two sons.
