Arsenal: Viktor Gyokeres 'convinced' of transfer agreement as Sporting return is 'delayed'
Viktor Gyokeres has reportedly seen his Sporting return delayed as links to Arsenal continue. Gyokeres was not among the initial batch of Sporting players to report back for pre-season training at the beginning of the month. Although, his absence was due to being granted extra time off by the club after being away with the Sweden national team at the end of last season. In fact, a Sporting statement read: 'Those who have been away with their respective national teams will report to training at a later date.' There had been reports that the striker was due to report for pre-season training today, Friday July 11, 2025. However, Portuguese publication, Record, claim that the date has been moved to tomorrow, Saturday July 12, 2025. This is the same return date as Conrad Harder and Geovany Quenda, who were away with Denmark and Portugal respectively at the Euro U21 tournament this summer. That said, A Bola are reporting that Gyokeres has no intention of turning up to training on Saturday unless he has a 'last minute change of heart' with O Jogo, stating he is not bothered about potential sanctions from Sporting because he's convinced an agreement will be found with Arsenal. As revealed by Standard Sport, both clubs had hoped to reach an agreement over a transfer fee before the end of the week. Negotiations are ongoing, but Standard Sport reported last Sunday that Arsenal's current proposal of €65million (£56m) plus €15m (£13m) in add-ons was not enough and would need to be increased. Gyokeres has reportedly already agreed personal terms with Arsenal on a five-year contract, but it remains to be seen whether a fee can be agreed between the clubs before the Gunners fly out to Singapore and Hong Kong for a tour next week.

Ipswich Town transfer rumour: Hutchinson release clause set to expire after approach
Omari Hutchinson's £35m relegation release clause is reportedly set to expire today. Following reports of interest from Brentford yesterday, The Athletic claim that the Bees made an approach to Ipswich yesterday, although a deal 'is felt to be unlikely at present' as they fell 'significantly short' of meeting his release clause. Hutchinson, who is away on holiday after being given an extended time off following England's successful Euro U21 campaign, is seen as a small number of potential replacements for Bryan Mbeumo, who has been linked to Manchester United. New signings, training camps, and friendly results — get it all with 50% off your local news subscription. However, the gap in valuation between the Red Devils and Brentford is claimed to be 'considerable', with the two sides 'several million pounds apart' as talks continue. Now, it has been reported that Hutchinson's release clause is set to expire today (Tuesday, July 15th), meaning that Town will have a stronger chance of keeping him this summer as they can set the terms of a potential departure. As well as Brentford, Fulham, West Ham, Everton, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig have also been linked with a move for the 21-year-old this summer.

Jonathan Rowe's remarkable rise from Wembley mascot and horror injury to becoming England's hero at U21 Euros
JONATHAN ROWE has gone from England mascot to Three Lions hero. He thought he had already lived the dream aged nine. 9 9 9 9 9 9 Rowe not only accompanied David Luiz out in front of a packed Wembley, but he got to watch Frank Lampard secure England a 2-1 victory over Brazil. He called that day in 2013, also his first time visiting Wembley, his favourite memory supporting England. Fast-forward 12 years later and it's the now 22-year-old who is the matchwinner after his extra-time header downed Germany. Back then the forward was playing for AFC Wembley, but his first big break came when Norwich snapped him up in 2014. But life was tough. Rowe, just 11, was struggling to juggle a three-hour daily commute from London to East Anglia as well as looking after his ill mother and helping to bring up his sister. It didn't get any easier. He was blighted by injuries over the following years as he battled Osgood-Schlatter disease - a common cause of knee pain. Though not even all of that can stop our boy Rowe. In 2021, his first-team debut for the Canaries arrived and in the 2023/24 campaign he enjoyed his breakthrough. Rowe scored 13 goals as Norwich reached the Championship play-off semi-finals. That caught the eye of French giants Marseille, and he was soon waving 'Au Revoir' to Carrow Road for a new adventure on the French Riviera for £17million. England 3 Germany 2- Young Lions retain Euro U21s crown in THRILLER as supersub Jonathan Rowe wins it in extra-time But with a fresh chapter comes new challenges - and Rowe admits he's struggled. He started just six of his 22 Ligue 1 appearances. But the move away for Rowe has again come with challenges. He started just six league games last season, with 22 more appearances coming from the bench and he admits he worried whether that would cost him a place in Lee Carsley's squad for this tournament in Slovakia. Rowe, who will have Marseille new boy and fellow England U21 star CJ Egan-Riley as a team-mate next term, said: 'There were times where I thought there is a lot of talent and a lot of competition, healthy competition. "But I always back myself. I had to make sure I was here and I think I showed tonight why. 'The last camp before this I wasn't picked for it and it's those type of things that kind of get to you sometimes. 'You have got to look at the bigger picture and make sure that you prove yourself again and I fortunately got to do that. 'I got in the squad and I'm so glad I could help the team win this trophy once again.' 9 9 9

Despite handing their much-fancied opponents a lifeline before the break, England held firm in Tranava to roar on. But the match ended in chaos as players from both sides clashed in a touchline fracas, with former Leeds man Charlie Cresswell at the centre of things. Tempers spilled over as unsettling scenes of shirt-grabbing and shoving took centre stage. Six members of Lee Carsley's army headed to the Stadion Antona Malatinskeho, where Big Sam Allardyce won his only game in charge of England in 2016, with happy memories. Teddy Sharman-Lowe, Brooke Norton-Cuffy, Jarell Quansah, Alex Scott, Samuel Iling-Junior and Ronnie Edwards were all returning to the scene of their 2022 Under-19 Euro triumph with England. And it proved to be a happy hunting ground once again as they refused to relinquish their grip on the trophy. Only Quansah and Scott out of them started here as Carsley rang the changes after Wednesday's 2-1 defeat to Germany. In came Tino Livramento for Iling-Junior, Tyler Morton replaced Elliot Anderson in midfield, captain James McAtee took over from Ethan Nwaneri. The fourth, and biggest eyebrow raiser, was the inclusion of Birmingham City's Jay Stansfield over Jonathan Rowe as Carsley opted for a more traditional No9 in attack for the first time this tournament. Though our boys had more than just him to worry. England u21s clash with Germany SUSPENDED as stadium plunged into semi-darkness and players taken off pitch In-demand Valencia midfield duo Javi Guerra and Diego Lopez and Las Palmas' Alberto Moleiro were the three matadors ordered to provide the magic for him. Lopez was straight into it, heading over before a minute had passed and then 30 seconds later his shot hit Charlie Cresswell's arm and the ref pointed to the spot. Fortunately, England survived as a VAR check led to the Italian official Simone Sozza overturning his decision. And Carsley's men roared back to turn a potential nightmare start into a dream one. Alex Scott's corner flicked off a defender's head and the Spaniards failed to deal with and allowed McAtee to pounce and drill home from eight yards. Moments later the Young Lions doubled their advantage when Quansah powered forward and thundered a strike towards goal. It was too much for Alejandro Iturbe, and Elliott reacted quickest to slot home after the keeper spilled it. Spain were stunned and struggled to threaten until they were gifted a way back into it. Scott's sloppiness allowed Moleiro to nick it, dart into the box before going down after colliding with Quansah's outstretched left leg. Guerra, after a lengthy delay, kept his cool to send James Beadle the wrong way to leave the game on a knife edge going into the break. England shot out the traps after the restart as Quansah found Omari Hutchinson on the edge of the box. The Ipswich winger's brilliant backheel set Stansfield free, but his strike was deflected over. Cresswell headed Elliot's corner into the side-netting but it was Beadle's heroics that kept their lead on the hour with a superb double save to deny Guerra. Spain were beginning to pile on the pressure as Cresswell threw his body in front of a stinger from Moleiro. But for all of their play and passing, they just could not find a way through as their hopes died right at the death when Beadle saved low down from Roberto Fernandez. Nottingham Forest ace Anderson then stepped up to the spot to fire home a penalty at the death, knocking the stuffing out of Spain for good. It was a display to make Sir Francis Drake proud. Now bring on the Dutch.
