General Hospital Performer of the Month for June 2025: Katelyn MacMullen

Women nearly dominated in June on General Hospital, while one unexpected newcomer rose to the occasion. Read on to find out who Soap Hub named as GH's performer of the month. Jane Elliot has done some incredible work since her GH return in 2023, from her character overtaking ELQ to becoming a loving and supportive granny to Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton). But a notable moment happened last month during Drew's (Cameron Mathison) press conference when she suddenly changed her mind about supporting and called her nephew out on being the cutthroat congressman he is, and that was when full on Tracy Quartermaine came out. After seeing Tracy soften for Brook Lynn, her new grandson Gio (Giovanni Mazza), and the late Gregory (Gregory Harrison), it was refreshing to see Tracy's true colors return, and for a good cause. After only a month in the role, Rory Gibson's portrayal of Michael has been well-received by GH fans, after having watched Chad Duell hold the role for nearly 15 years. Gibson arrived and didn't miss a beat, instantly forming a bond with Jason (Steve Burton) and channeling all his anger toward his cheating ex-wife. WATCH THIS: Check out Soap Hub's new podcast, Soap Hub Says here! A last minute honorable mention was added after the June 30 episode when Eva LaRue knocked it out of the park as Natalia. After learning Sonny (Maurice Benard) wasn't joining her when she left the country, she went noticeably delulu and had a full-on breakdown that ended with a possible overdose. LaRue previously played the role of Blaze's (Jacqueline Grace Lopez) 'momager' and then the homophobic mother to both Blaze and Marco (Adrian Anchondo), but her portrayal of a woman scorned is one we'll never forget. After the chaotic Corinthos vs. Corinthos custody battle, the performer of the month was instantly found in Katelyn MacMullen as Willow. Playing such a hated character can be tough, especially after having been a loveable one for years. Now, MacMullen has nailed not only a woman head over heels in love, but one that is completely mesmerized by her new lover. And when she wasn't acting like a fool in love, MacMullen broke the hearts of viewers when Willow broke down in the courtroom after losing custody of her kids. Eva LaRue Exits General Hospital After Wrapping Her Controversial Role As Natalia

Eva LaRue has officially wrapped her run on General Hospital, exiting the show after her intense and controversial portrayal of Natalia Ramirez. Soap Opera Digest reported the news of LaRue's exit exclusively. Natalia's turbulent journey seemed to near its end on the June 30 episode with a dramatic turn — her suicide attempt due to the overwhelming despair of being sent off to Belize by Sonny Corinthos. LaRue's role as Natalia wasn't without its challenges, both for the character and for the actress herself. Initially brought on for a brief guest arc, Natalia quickly became a pivotal figure in the drama between Blaze (Jacqueline Grace Lopez) and Kristina (Kate Mansi), but it was her complicated relationship with Sonny (Maurice Benard) that truly ignited controversy among fans. While the idea of Natalia finding redemption through her relationship with Sonny was explored, many viewers struggled to warm up to the character, who was originally introduced as a disapproving and homophobic mother. LaRue admits that this was a tough transition, especially after her years portraying Maria Santos Grey on All My Children, a role that made her a beloved daytime star. 'It was hard for me as a person,' LaRue reflected, acknowledging the stark contrast between her past roles and the complex, often vilified character of Natalia. Despite the negative reception, LaRue has no regrets about her time on GH. She appreciated the chance to delve into such a different role, even if Natalia wasn't embraced by fans in the way she had hoped. 'It was a tough but exciting ride,' she said, recalling the highs and lows of playing a character many loved to hate. WATCH THIS: Check out Soap Hub's new podcast, Soap Hub Says here! While LaRue's character did not receive the happy ending many hoped for, her exit marked the end of a significant chapter on GH. Reflecting on her time on the show, LaRue shared fond memories of working with former All My Children co-stars like Finola Hughes (Anna), Laura Wright (Carly), and Maurice Benard, with whom she shared great chemistry. 'What a rock star,' LaRue said of Benard, expressing her gratitude for their on-screen partnership. As for the future, LaRue is looking ahead to new opportunities, leaving behind a controversial yet unforgettable character. 'I had a blast,' she said, 'and I'm excited for what's next.' GH Shocker: Natalia's Death Wasn't the Plan…So What Changed?

Things have been heating up on General Hospital lately. Michael and Willow are battling for custody of their kids. Tracy and Drew are waging a very public war. And Charlie's Pub was firebombed, nearly killing Kristina, just to name a few. Now, we have the death of Natalia. The poor woman seemed to be losing her mind when she thought Sonny was going to run away with her. And when that didn't happen, she found herself at the bottom of bottles of alcohol and pills. Sadly, she died, and Eva LaRue dove into what exactly happened with her character. 'In your lifetime, whether you're doing daytime or nighttime [TV], rarely as an actor do you get those kinds of scenes,' is what LaRue told Soap Opera Digest about Natalia's final days. Her character's daughter was Blaze (Jacqueline Grace Lopez), a singer who had gone on tour. Because Natalia was facing jail time for a DUI if she didn't hand over evidence on Sonny (Maurice Benard), LaRue knew she was being written out. But she assumed Natalia would join Blaze on tour. But she was glad things ended the way they did because, 'It would have been a boring exit!' READ THIS: Get a look at what's coming up in Port Charles. Despite going in a different direction than she anticipated, LaRue explained how she loved Natalia's final scenes. 'Natalia just goes into a full-on life spiral,' she said, adding, 'a full-on, huge, juicy arc of a life spiral over the course of a couple of days.' She felt that actors hardly ever get such complex scenes, especially dramatic death exits like that, and referred to them as 'delicious.' READ THIS: Learn more about LaRue's exit. LaRue was extremely happy with the material she was given, remarking, 'That was awesome.' She further noted that while she's never had a panic attack in real life, she drew from friends who did and shared their experiences with her. At the end of the day, Natalia thought she was going to have a nice life in Belize with Sonny, but alas, that was not meant to be.

General Hospital actress Eva LaRue exits show after only one year

Eva LaRue 's General Hospital character Natalia Rogers-Ramirez is exiting the series. It comes just a over one year after the 58-year-old actress debuted the role of Blaze's (Jacqueline Grace Lopez) homophobic mom. LaRue, who has also worked on All My Children and CSI Miami, shared a headshot on Instagram this week, writing, 'That's a wrap on Natalia Ramirez.' Executive producer Frank Valentini told Entertainment Weekly, 'Eva's been a dear friend for years and I am so pleased we found an opportunity to work together. 'What originally was meant as a guest star arc turned into a longer and more satisfying arc, in thanks to Eva's terrific work and chemistry with our cast. I was thrilled Eva was available to us in this extended role. I wish her all the best in her upcoming projects.' Speaking to Soap Opera Digest, Eva confirmed, 'I was originally only supposed to be on the show for a couple of months and it ended up being a much longer run.' She added that the show 'felt like home' due to the presence of other former All My Children actors. Her final episode as Ramirez will air this week, after she previously swallowed a harmful mix of pills and alcohol upon learning she would be sent to Belize by Maurice Bernard's Sonny Corinthos. LaRue said she suspected her character would get the boot earlier this year. 'I started to feel it in January. They tried to rehabilitate my character and then all of a sudden, I have these scenes in January where, because Natalia had lied about her ex-husband and broken his trust, Sonny was like, "We can't be friends anymore." 'And I thought, "Uh-oh, there we go," because that [relationship with Sonny] was kind of my character's only lifeline.' The actress detailed the struggle to make viewers like her character. 'People just weren't buying it, because they just hated my character so much,' she explained. 'I was so vilified that no matter what [the writers] did, it just wasn't a solid enough rehabilitation that they were gonna buy me with Sonny. And so when they finally let that idea go, I realized, "Okay, I'm probably not much longer for this world."' Speaking to Soap Opera Digest, Eva confirmed, 'I was originally only supposed to be on the show for a couple of months and it ended up being a much longer run' She also noted the contrast between playing Natalia and All My Children's Maria, who was a hit with fans. 'It was hard for me, actually — for me as a person,' she reflected. 'When you play a character like Maria Santos, love her or hate her, she was not ever meant to be a vilified character. And so it was hard from being that character, being a fan favorite, to being, like, literally hated.' She added, 'The GH fans couldn't stand [Natalia]! So that was tough, because especially if you are accustomed to being rooted for, to be rooted against is not as comfortable.' Despite the friction with fans, Eva stressed that she enjoyed her time on the show. 'I had a blast at General Hospital. I loved being there and I had a lot of really great scenes and I loved everybody that I got to work with,' she told the outlet. 'It was just an awesome experience, and I was really glad that I got to stay longer than I was supposed to.'

General Hospital executive producer Frank Valentini said in a statement. 'What originally was meant as a guest star arc turned into a longer and more satisfying arc, in thanks to Eva's terrific work and chemistry with our cast. I was thrilled Eva was available to us in this extended role. I wish her all the best in her upcoming projects.' LaRue's character Natalia was introduced in February 2024 as the mother of Blaze (Jacqueline Grace Lopez), just as Blaze was entering the early stages of a romance with Kristina (played by Daytime Emmy winner Kate Mansi). Natalia did not approve of the same-sex relationship, and fans 'just hated my character so much,' LaRue admits to Soap Opera Digest. In Monday's episode, Natalia ingested a lethal combination of pills and alcohol — a hint that she may be on the way out. LaRue is best known to daytime fans for playing neurologist Dr. Maria Santos Grey on All My Children on and off for 18 years, earning a Daytime Emmy nomination in 1997. (She later won a Daytime Emmy for her guest work on The Young and the Restless.) LaRue also co-starred alongside David Caruso in the long-running CBS procedural CSI: Miami, debuting as DNA expert Natalia Boa Vista in Season 4.
