Nation's No. 1 QB Recruit Predicted to Commit to Big Ten Powerhouse
Nation's No. 1 QB Recruit Predicted to Commit to Big Ten Powerhouse originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Lincoln Riley is known for his ability to develop quarterbacks. The USC Trojans' head coach has helped Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray and Caleb Williams each win the Heisman Trophy. Peyton Houston hopes to be the next in that successful lineage. Advertisement 'NEW: Rivals' @SWilftong_ and @samspiegs have logged expert predictions for USC to land 2027 4-star QB Peyton Houston,' Rivals wrote Monday on X. 'Houston is the No. 8 QB in the 2027 class.' Houston, a Shreveport, La., native, is tabbed as the No. 1 passer in ESPN's Class of 2027 rankings. On that list, he ranks ahead of Bobby Coleman Jr., Keegan Croucher, Brady Edmunds and Peter Bourque. Edmunds is an Ohio State commit. According to MaxPreps, Houston passed for 4,480 yards, 38 touchdowns and six interceptions as a sophomore at Evangel Christian Academy (La.). He also rushed for 690 yards and seven touchdowns on 105 totes. 'It means a lot, and it's a blessing, for sure, to have Lincoln Riley think I'm one of the top guys for him,' Houston told Rivals' Adam Gorney last month. 'That relationship there is definitely strong.' Advertisement USC Trojans head coach Lincoln A. Vasquez-Imagn Images Houston could be set up well if he ends up taking the reins of the Trojans' offense. In 247Sports' team rankings, USC has the No. 1 recruiting haul in the Class of 2026. That group includes four-star signal-caller Jonas Williams and five-star tight end Mark Bowman, who's drawn comparisons to Brock Bowers. Among his 32 offers, Houston is also considering the Oklahoma Sooners, Clemson Tigers and Texas Longhorns. Elite class of 2027 quarterback Peyton Houston is high on Notre Dame
It seems as if Notre Dame is making daily headlines this offseason on the recruiting trail, particularly in regards to its 2026 class. But that doesn't mean the Fighting Irish aren't looking to make headlines in their 2027 class and beyond. One particular prospect the Irish have their eye on is Evangel Christian Academy (Shreveport, LA) quarterback Peyton Houston, who made quite the impression on quarterbacks coach Gino Guidugli and offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock according to a report by Mike Singer. Houston is one of two signal-callers from the 2027 class to hold an offer from the Irish, the other being North Cobb (Kennesaw, GA) product Teddy Jarrard. The 5-foot-11, 198-pounder is a four-star recruit who is considered the No. 8 quarterback in his class, per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. Like any school competing for the pledge of an elite quarterback, ND has some stiff competition. Texas, Oklahoma, LSU, Georgia and USC are among those who are trying to secure his pledge. As a sophomore, Houston threw for 4,480 yards with 38 touchdowns and just 3 interceptions. Elite numbers indeed. Nation's No. 2 QB Drops Intriguing Recruiting Hint After Four Major Offers
Class of 2027 four-star quarterback Peyton Houston made a statement this weekend after adding multiple scholarship offers this year. Houston (6-foot, 198 pounds) plays for Evangel Christian Academy in Shreveport, Louisiana. Advertisement As a first-year starter last season, Houston completed 70% of his passes for 4,480 yards with 38 touchdowns to six interceptions while adding 690 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on the ground. Houston is rated as the No. 2 quarterback, the No. 2 player in the state and the No. 5 overall recruit in his class, per Rivals. Although Houston is just entering his junior high school season, the highly-touted recruit is gaining interest from a impressive list of major college football programs. Florida State, Michigan, Auburn and Penn State extended scholarship offers to Houston this year, bringing his total to 27 offers. Major powers like Georgia, Texas, Texas A&M, USC and LSU are believed to be at the top of his list to this point. Advertisement Houston, who took home the camp's quarterback MVP honors, performed in drills with a Georgia towel in tow. The Bulldogs offered the dual-threat passer back in October. Houston sporting the UGA towel isn't enough to make an assumption on where he may ultimately land, but head coach Kirby Smart's Bulldogs probably look kindly on the choice of gear as they battle other recruiting giants. The recruiting race surrounding Houston will only intensify leading up to his senior season. He will be able to start taking official visits in April of 2026.
