BBC unveils first look at new thriller The Guest
The BBC has released first-look pictures of the brand-new four-part propulsive thriller The Guest, starring Gabrielle Creevy, Eve Myles, Sion Daniel Young and Emun Elliott. Written, created and executive produced by the multi-award-winning writer, Matthew Barry (Men Up) and produced by Quay Street Productions (part of ITV Studios) (Fool Me Once, Missing You, Dead Hot) for BBC iPlayer and BBC One in a co-commission with BBC Cymru Wales.
The Guest is a fast-paced story that centres on the toxic and beguiling relationship between a successful business owner, Fran (Eve Myles), and her employee, Ria (Gabrielle Creevy). Ria has never had the time or opportunity to think about what she might actually want from the world. So, when she starts cleaning for Fran, she's intoxicated by this confident and self-assured woman who encourages her to take control of her life, and when Ria flourishes, an intense friendship is forged. However, when Fran's advice leads to a shocking event, the lives of these two very different women become intertwined by shared secrets and dangerous plots. What follows is a compelling and manipulative game of cat and mouse. But just who is playing who?
Layered with intense drama, the first-look pictures offer a glimpse of the lead cast in their roles. The pictures showcase the disparity between Ria's and Francesca's lives before becoming intertwined and eventually unhinged.
The Guest (4X60) is created and written by BAFTA Cymru-winning writer Matthew Barry, who also serves as executive producer. Davina Earl (Men Up, The Red King) and BAFTA Special Recognition Award-winner Nicola Shindler (Fool Me Once, After the Flood) are executive producers for Quay Street Productions, with Rebecca Ferguson and Nick Andrews for the BBC. Ashley Way (Men Up, Who is Erin Carter?) is executive producer and will direct all four episodes, with BAFTA-winner Karen Lewis (Happy Valley, Men Up) producing. The Guest is produced in association with ITV Studios who will also handle international distribution. The series has received Welsh Government support via Creative Wales.
The Guest is coming this Autumn to BBC iPlayer, BBC One and BBC One Wales.
