Pee-wee Herman's iconic red bicycle to be permanently displayed at the Alamo

No, it won't be in the basement. The red-and-white souped-up Schwinn bicycle made famous in the 1985 film 'Pee-wee's Big Adventure' will soon have a new permanent home in what is arguably one of the unusual movie tie-ins in the history of celluloid. The bike — which served as the MacGuffin in the Tim Burton-directed cult favorite — will be permanently displayed in the Alamo Visitor Center and Museum in San Antonio to mark the 40th anniversary of the movie's theatrical release. 'The Alamo holds a special place in the hearts of people everywhere, and Pee-wee's Big Adventure helped to introduce a new generation to the historic site. This artifact perfectly illustrates how the Alamo lives on in pop culture, and soon, visitors to Texas' top tourist destination will be able to see it up close in our new world-class museum.' Advertisement In the hit movie, the theft of the titular character's beloved bicycle sparks a madcap multi-state search, during which Pee-wee meets an unscrupulous fortune teller who feeds the desperate hero the misinformation that the stolen cruiser is in the basement of the Alamo. After meeting a slate of oddball characters and having a wild series of misadventures — which finds Pee-wee keeping company with a felon on the run, ticking off a biker gang and hitching a ride with the ghost of a dead trucker named Large Marge — he arrives at the Alamo, only to learn it doesn't even have a basement. Since the release of the film, the bicycle has shared an inexorable connection with the famous fortress among fans and has become a widely recognizable piece of movie memorabilia. With a production cost of just $7 million, 'Pee-wee's Big Adventure' grossed nearly $41 million ($119 million in 2025 dollars) and sparked a much-maligned and less-successful sequel, 'Big Top Pee-wee' in 1988. 6 Since the release of the film, the bicycle has shared an inexorable connection with the famous fortress among fans and has become a widely recognizable piece of movie memorabilia. 'We'll also be hosting a free public screening of the film in the newly reopened Plaza de Valero. Until then, don't worry… the bike will be stored for safekeeping. Maybe in the basement!' Pee-wee's bike sold at auction to a private collector in May for $125,000 — after it was originally expected to fetch between $30,000 and $60,000, according to People.

Dylan Walsh pay tribute to 'Nip/Tuck' co-star Julian McMahon

Now it's just us. You'll kiss me on the cheek and say 'Bye Dyl. Goodbye, Jules.' 9 Julian McMahon as Dr. Christian Troy and Dylan Walsh as Dr. Sean McNamara. ©Warner Bros/Courtesy Everett Collection Walsh previously told Deadline after news broke on Friday: 'I'm stunned. We rode this wave together and I loved him.' 'My heart goes out to Kelly and [his daughter] Maddy,' he continued. 'Jules! I know you'd want me to say something to make you smile — all the inside jokes. All those years you had my back, and my god, we laughed. My heart is with you. Rest in peace.' 'Nip/Tuck,' which aired for six seasons from 2003 to 2010, followed longtime friends Dr. Sean McNamara (Walsh) and Dr. Christian Troy (McMahon), who ran a plastic surgery practice together. 9 Dylan Walsh, Joely Richardson, Julian McMahon in 'Nip/Tuck.' ©Warner Bros/courtesy Everett Co Kelly Carlson, who played Kimber Henry on medical drama, took to Instagram on Friday, to share her thoughts on the 'Charmed' vet's death. 'I just heard about the passing of Julian McMahon,' the actress, 49, began in a video, 'and I've gotten a lot of really nice messages on Instagram and I just checked 'cause I was just told and I was trying to verify it, right? Because people can say stuff like that, but it looks to be true — and oh, my gosh, I'm completely shocked and saddened by it.' Touching on his health, Carlson admitted, 'I didn't know he wasn't well for a while. But I will say my heart goes out to Kelly, his wife, his daughter and Brooke Burns, his ex-wife, who they remain close friends and raise their daughter together and I think he has a sister…' 9 Dylan Walsh, Vivian Thibes, and Julian McMahon in 'Nip/Tuck.' ©Warner Bros/courtesy Everett Co 'The Marine' alum opened up about all of the good times she had portraying McMahon's wife on the hit FX show. 'It's tough to process a little bit because he played my on-and-off husband for several years, [he] was a good friend and my acting partner,' Carlson explained. 'Anyways, Jules, thank you for a great seven years on 'Nip/Tuck' together and we had so much fun.' 'I hope he had a peaceful journey. 'With an open heart, I wish to share with the world that my beloved husband, Julian McMahon, died peacefully this week after a valiant effort to overcome cancer,' she detailed. 'Julian loved life. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work, and he loved his fans. Cage, 61, told The Post on Saturday, 'Such deeply saddening news. I spent six weeks working with Julian, and he was the most talented of actors. Our scenes together on 'The Surfer' were amongst my favorite I have ever participated in, and Julian is one of my favorite people. He was a kind and intelligent man. My love to his family.'

‘Harry Potter' HBO series has officially found its Harry, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger

Muggles rejoice: we have found our new trio. HBO's new 'Harry Potter' series has cast Dominic McLaughlin to play Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton in the role of Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. In the original movie franchise, the roles were played by Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, respectively. 9 Arabella Stanton, Dominic McLaughlin, and Alastair Stout. BBC 'After an extraordinary search led by casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we are delighted to announce we have found our Harry, Hermione, and Ron,' the series' director Mark Mylod and showrunner Francesca Gardiner shared in a statement on Tuesday. 'The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen,' the pair continued. 'We would like to thank all the tens of thousands of children who auditioned. It's been a real pleasure to discover the plethora of young talent out there.' The three young stars are all newcomers in the industry, with McLaughlin's previous acting credit being in the movie 'Grow.' 9 Alastair Stout is set to play Ron Weasley. The show is set to premiere in 2026, with each season following one of J.K. Rowling's seven 'Harry Potter' books. In February, news broke that John Lithgow was headed to Hogwarts, playing the role of Professor Albus Dumbledore. Shortly after, the actor, 79, confirmed the news in an interview with ScreenRant. 9 Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint in the 2002 film 'Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.' ©Warner Bros/courtesy Everett Co 'It came as a total surprise to me,' Lithgow admitted. 'I just got the phone call up at the Sundance Film Festival for yet another film, and it was not an easy decision because it's going to define me for the last chapter of my life, I'm afraid.' 'I'm very excited. Some wonderful people are turning their attention back to 'Harry Potter,'' continued the star. 'That's why it's been such a hard decision. I'll be about 87 years old at the wrap party, but I've said yes.' Although some critics weren't too thrilled with the news. 9 'Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.' ©Warner Bros/courtesy Everett Co 'Meh, I've already lost interest,' one social media user quipped in the comments section. 'Noo this won't work,' a second said, while a third stated, 'What? This is going to be the stupidest tv show ever. Will not make it one whole season.' Dumbledore was originally played by Richard Harris in the first two 'Harry Potter' movies. Michael Gambon then took over the role after Harris died in 2002. HBO CEO Casey Bloys confirmed in November that Rowling, 59, will also be an executive producer on the new series. 9 Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint. 'She's been fairly involved — she was very involved in the process of selecting the writer and the director,' he told reporters at the time, despite the author's history of anti-transgender rhetoric. 'I imagine she'll have opinions on casting,' Bloys added. 'It hasn't affected the casting or hiring of writers or production staff or anything, so we haven't felt any impact from that.' After the internet's reaction to Rowling signing onto the project, Lithgow said he 'absolutely' didn't expect to get as much hate as he did from her critics. 'Of course, it was a big decision because it's probably the last major role I'll play,' he said during an interview with the Times of London. 'It's an eight-year commitment so I was just thinking about mortality and that this is a very good winding-down role.' Lithgrow added, 'I suppose at a certain point I'll meet her, and I'm curious to talk to her.'
