Pascal Wehrlein trains football star Sergio Aguero during Formula E Evo Sessions, watch the thrill unfold
Image credit: Formula E Manchester City star Sergio Aguero is one of the few chosen ones to get a chance to drive a Formula E car on a race track. The footballer had his own GEN3 Evo session, guided by none other than TAG Heuer Porsche driver Pascal Wehrlein. And Aguero nailed it by driving the electric race car like a pro, although he missed his engineer's message to slow down to cool the tyres. Sergio Aguero takes on the race track in a GEN3 Evo Sergio Aguero got the opportunity to drive the Porsche 99X Electric GEN3 Evo Formula E car during Miami's Evo Sessions on March 5 and 6. The video from his Evo session is pure entertainment, as he takes lap after lap, clearly enjoying the thrill of driving a race car. Earlier, the official handle of FIA Formula E shared a video from Sergio's Evo Session on Instagram. It showed how the footballer missed the messages to slow down and continued at high speed despite the need to cool the tyres. He later asked them to raise the volume and eventually slowed down. Pascal Wehrlein was seen doing a great job coaching him over the radio. The 37-year-old told about the opportunity, 'This is absolutely crazy: from footballer to racing driver in one of the fastest racing cars in the world. Every child is familiar with Porsche. The brand represents an iconic heritage, particularly in motorsport. I am absolutely delighted and would like to thank everyone involved for this unique opportunity.' All about GEN3 Evo Sessions Aguero and other participants underwent detailed training, which included simulator sessions, physical conditioning, driver coaching, hardware customization, and engineering briefings. It not only gave them the thrill of driving a race car but also gave viewers insight into the intricate world of Formula E — how a driver is trained and how the car is driven during a race. A complete documentary will be released later this year, showcasing the entire Evo Sessions footage. Sharing his reaction when Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds first presented the idea, he said, 'The initial reaction when I presented the concept of 'Evo Sessions' to our teams and partners was, 'This is wild!' — which is when I immediately knew we had to bring it to life. We wanted to do something that has never been done before in motorsport; something that would give audiences and our fan base a unique perspective into the world of a Formula E driver, through the eyes of some of their favourite online personalities. ' He added, 'Formula E is the fastest-growing motorsport in the world, and we have a clear target to hit half a billion fans by 2030. Through collaborating with some of the biggest names in popular culture right now, we're able to open up Formula E to a whole new fanbase.' Formula E packs 18 races into record 2025-26 calendar
Formula E has announced its biggest calendar yet as 18 rounds will make up the 2025-26 campaign with Brazil hosting the opener. The all-electric championship will visit Sao Paulo on 6 December with the season once again concluding at the ExCeL Arena in London on 15-16 August after a contract extension was agreed. Advertisement Formula E is still waiting on two 'TBC' rounds for next season's calendar though, which was approved by the FIA's World Motorsport Council in Macau on Tuesday. It comes after several racing calendars were revealed, including Formula 1's for 2026. After Sao Paulo, Formula E will return to Mexico City and the popular Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez on 10 January, followed by Miami. The US race has a new home, dropping the Homestead Speedway after one event, and will now be held at the Miami International Autodrome for round three on 31 January - which is understood to be the start of a multi-year contract. Formula E is familiar with the circuit, hosting the Evo Sessions there earlier in 2025 – an influencer event aimed at raising awareness of the championship during an eight week break in the calendar. Formula E will also be back at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit in Saudi Arabia for rounds four and five across 13 and 14 February. Jarama, Madrid, is a new addition to the calendar, having stepped in to host pre-season testing last year when devastating flooding hit the Valencia region of Spain. Drivers had positive feedback about the venue, which hosted F1 on nine occasions from the late '60s to early '80s. Madrid will kickstart the European leg of the calendar, with Jarama a single-header on 21 March and is followed by two double-headers in Berlin and Monaco. Race action Race action Andreas Beil Andreas Beil Jakarta in Indonesia, is notably absent and may fill one of the slots, with Sanya also being heavily speculated to make it two Chinese locations in a single season for Formula E – one of its key markets. Shanghai is back on 4-5 July, followed by Tokyo on 25-26 July, which is the latest slot it has had since debuting in 2024. The Japanese event has been hugely successful, especially with the dominance shown by Nissan and Oliver Rowland this season, with there being talks it could become a night race in due course. However, with Gen4 on the horizon for the 2026-27 season, this could be the last time the championship races at the temporary track as car speeds and power continues to increase. 'It's something that me and my dad bonded over,' Brooklyn told the publication at Miami's Formula E's Evo Sessions two months ago. 'My dad's had some pretty cool cars.' YouTuber MrBeast Crashed a Formula E Race Car in Miami
MrBeast's latest lap on the race track didn't exactly go as planned. The YouTube star, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, crashed Formula E's electric GEN3 Evo race car he was driving at an event in Miami last week, Road and Track reported. Though he lost control of the car and spun into the wall, the content creator wasn't injured, and the car was not too badly damaged, either. More from Robb Report F1 Might Bring Back V-10s and Their Famous Noise Gordon Murray Says It's Easier to Win an F1 Championship Than Le Mans-Here's Why F1 Drivers Could Now Face a One-Month Ban for Offensive Language Donaldson hopped into the lime-green racer to take part in Formula E's Evo Sessions event. Held at the Miami International Autodrome, the gathering brought together 11 of the world's 'most-followed' personalities, including Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, Tom Felton, and sports content creator Theo Baker, to test out the GEN3 Evo. And MrBeast was off to a good start on the first lap in the race car—which has German driver David Beckmann behind the wheel during Formula E events—not far behind a Porsche Taycan Turbo GT safety car. Then, coming out of a left-hand turn in sector 1, the social-media star spun the car 360 degrees and hit the wall, Road and Track reported. Donaldson jumped out of the car, and the session came to an end after the race car was taken back to the pits. It doesn't seem like anyone was too phased by Donaldson's crash on the track. though. According to an Instagram post from Formula E captioned 'Oops,' MrBeast had a huge smile on his face after the incident. The GEN3 Evo has some pretty crazy stats behind it, with a zero-to-60-mph time of just 1.82 seconds. That's 30 percent faster than a current Formula 1 car, according to Formula E, and makes it the quickest accelerating single-seat race car in the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (the governing body of motorsports). And the model is touted as the world's first net zero carbon race car, thanks to its electric batteries with an output of 400 kW. It's also the first Formula E race car to have all-wheel drive, which enhances both performance and strategy, and is the fastest model to date with a 200 mph top speed, the company says. As for the brand behind the race car, Formula E got its start back in 2011, where the idea for an all-electric street-racing series came to life during a discussion between founder Alejandro Agag and former FIA President Jean Todt in Paris. Now a host to 12 teams and 24 drivers, the race made its debut in 2014, in Beijing's Olympic Park. The race's 11th season is currently underway, with the next race set for April 12 in Miami. Hopefully, those drivers will have much better luck on the track than MrBeast did. YouTube Star MrBeast Crashes Formula E Race Car on His Second Lap
Social media influencer James Donaldson is one of the biggest YouTube stars in the world, but you probably know him by his online handle: MrBeast. However, while he may have the internet acumen to rack up more than 370 million subscribers on YouTube... it seems his driving skills could use a little work. During a Formula E event in Miami on Thursday, MrBeast lost control of the Formula E GEN3 Evo he was driving and spun into the wall. Thankfully, the only injury was to his ego, and the car didn't appear to be badly damaged. So, what was MrBeast doing behind the wheel of a Formula E car capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 1.8 seconds? He was driving as part of Formula E's "Evo Sessions" event, held at the Miami International Autodrome on March 5 and 6, which brought together 11 of the world's most-followed personalities and gave them the opportunity to drive the electric racers. MrBeast was piloting the car that is usually driven by German driver David Beckmann, following a Porsche Taycan Turbo GT safety car. The first lap went off without a hitch, and MrBeast appeared to be getting confident as he got closer to the safety car. That confidence likely eroded quickly, however, the second he spun the car 360 degrees while coming out of a left-hand turn in sector 1, causing the car to clip the wall on the left side of the track. Donaldson was able to quickly jump out of the car; however, the session was stopped while the car was hauled back to the pits. Based on social media footage from the scene, no one appeared to be too bothered by the incident. MrBeast was all smiles as he described his ordeal, saying that it felt like he'd spun four time before hitting the wall and asking people around him to explain what had happened. Consider MrBeast's Formula E crash just another example of how difficult it is to control a proper racing car. If you want to be a world-class driver, it takes a lot of dedication and practice — no matter how many YouTube followers you have.
