Apple (AAPL) Leads the Race to Acquire U.S. Formula 1 Rights with $150M Bid
Apple (AAPL) is leading the race to secure the exclusive U.S. streaming rights for Formula 1 in 2026, having offered about $150 million per year. This development, initially reported by Business Insider, suggests that the iPhone maker is set to outbid the current rights holder, ESPN. The current deal with Disney's (DIS) ESPN is set to conclude following the present racing season. The network had encouraged F1 to explore other options after its exclusive negotiation window expired at the end of 2024. It must be noted that ESPN, which pays nearly $90 million per year for the rights, is not expected to match or exceed Apple's offer. Securing a deal with AAPL, which operates the Apple TV+ streaming service, would guarantee F1 a major financial gain. However, such a move carries the risk of potentially limiting the sport's overall viewership exposure compared to the broader reach offered by a traditional major network like ESPN. Why Does Apple Want F1 Rights? Apple's bid comes after its recent F1-themed movie starring Brad Pitt became its biggest box office hit, grossing over $300 million globally. With growing U.S. interest in Formula 1, Apple sees it as an opportunity to expand its Apple TV+ sports portfolio, which already includes Major League Soccer and MLB's Friday Night Baseball. While AAPL has not confirmed how it will package F1 content, it's likely to be offered as a standalone subscription or bundled with Apple TV+. Is Apple a Buy, Sell, or Hold? Turning to Wall Street, AAPL stock has a Moderate Buy consensus rating based on 16 Buys, 10 Holds, and one Sell assigned in the last three months. At $228.27, the average Apple stock price target implies an 8.1% upside potential.

Sports meets fashion: Time to take cues from Wimbledon, golf, F1 and pickleball
Fashion has always drawn cues from art, music, poetry, and sports. With the US Open (Golf) wrapping up last month and Wimbledon and Formula 1 underway, the overlap between athletics and aesthetics is dominating global conversations once again. From preppy courtside looks to flashy F1-themed manicures, fashion's biggest trends are emerging from the field. St. John's new line of golf wear, F1-themed nails with track lines, chrome finishes, and team logos, and Neena Gupta promoting her new web series in a pickleball-style outfit.(Photos: Instagram) Serving preppy style This year, Wimbledon spectators are embracing the preppy aesthetic. Think gingham and checkered patterns, pleated skirts, and tailored blazers. 'Global events like F1 and Wimbledon turned into runways of their own,' says stylist Namita Alexander, adding, 'It's not just about performance, but presence. Celebrities are blending athleisure with high fashion, embracing sporty silhouettes, technical fabrics, and iconic teamwear to craft looks that both are bold and wearable.' On court chic Despite Wimbledon's strict all-white dress code, players have been making subtle fashion statements. American player Coco Gauff wore a lace tank top adorned with 3D butterfly embellishments. Italian player Lorenzo Musetti donned a textured leather jacket for his pre-match walk-on. Experts believe that these trends will blow up soon. 'Sports and fashion go hand-in-hand, and this year is particularly inspiring,' says designer Payal Jain, who grew up watching tennis, adding, 'If I'm working on a sport-oriented collection, I revisit icons like Steffi Graf, Maria Sharapova, and Andre Agassi, and draw from their language for I'm creating.' Golf goes glam Once heavily male-coded, golf wear is getting a feminine spin. With women now accounting for over 25% of golfers and contributing to 60% of the sport's post-pandemic growth, as per the US National Golf Foundation, fashion brands are taking note. St. John's new collection includes textured knit polos, Serena-style skirts, tweed bags, and open-knit jackets, blending performance with polish. Nailing the top gear The high-speed world of Formula 1 has hit the beauty world with F1-themed nails gaining traction. Track lines, flame motifs, and chrome finishes are dominating nail salons and Instagram alike, with #f1nails clocking nearly 500k views. 'Trends like F1 nails and tennis bracelets are just examples of how deep the influence of fashion and sports runs. Even sports uniforms have become more stylish,' says designer Pratyush Kumar, adding, 'From motor racing to fencing, we study functional details and merge them with craft.' Pickleball meets pop Once a quiet paddle sport, pickleball has become a social media sensation. With pop icons like Taylor Swift and the Kardashians joining the craze, its style code — comfort-first and playful — is trending. And Indian brands are not far behind. Labels like FirstEdge Sports, Terra Luna, and NOYO are embracing the wave, launching relaxed silhouettes like V-neck T-shirts, pleated skirts, sweat vests, and classic sneakers recently. Catching up on the trend, actor Neena Gupta also sported a pickleball-inspired outfit featuring a pleated skirt, sweater vest, shirt, socks, and sneakers while promoting her upcoming series recently.

McDonald's menu adds new collaboration with surprising partner
If you think about it, adults are just grown-up children with more responsibilities. McDonald's is well aware of this fact, which is why it has created an entire brand that attracts people of all ages. Don't miss the move: Subscribe to TheStreet's free daily newsletter The fast-food giant uses nostalgia and affordability to engage the adult market and entices kids with its Happy Meal toys, kid-friendly food, and playgrounds. McDonald's has formed many collaborations to meet customers' needs. However, the chain's latest partnership is so epic that fans might have to tighten their seatbelts to keep from jumping out of their seats. Related: McDonald's menu adds new happy meal fans will love One thing adults and children have in common is that they love car races, whether in a video game or real life. They give kids the freedom they lack for 18 years and allow adults to relive childhood memories. Image source: Sharrett/Bloomberg via Getty Images Due to popular demand, McDonald's (MCD) has teamed up with Formula 1 to launch a new promotional meal for the upcoming "F1" movie to be released in theaters on June 27. F1 is the world's most prestigious motor racing competition and holds the number one spot in annual sporting events worldwide. The McDonald's x F1 meal includes a Quarter Pounder burger, medium fries, and a drink, all wrapped in F1-themed packaging. However, this latest collaboration is unlike any others, because customers will get one out of two exclusive collectible race cars with every purchase. Related: Disney and Mickey Mouse take on Formula 1 These F1-inspired toys are no joke; one of the race cars is a tiny replica of the APXGP Team Car that Brad Pitt drives in the movie, and the other is modeled after the real-life McDonald's F1 car, which makes them collectible worthy. Although both grown-ups and children love a Happy Meal, this one seems more geared towards adult F1 fans, since none of the food or beverage items are the typical kids' sizes. One might even call it an "Adult Happy Meal." The new McDonald's x F1 promotional meal has yet to launch at any of the fast-food chain's locations, but if it aligns with the release of the upcoming F1 movie, it could be made available very soon. Unfortunately for Americans, the McDonald's x F1 meal will only launch at participating McDonald's locations in Mexico. The company has neither confirmed nor denied whether a potential launch could happen in the U.S. or any other country. Still, foreign McDonald's menu items have been made available in the U.S. before. All F1 fans can do now is hope there's enough demand for the meal that the fast-food giant feels compelled to bring it to the States.
