But the Swedish cap failed to establish himself and was sent out on loan to FC Twente last season. Lagerbielke looked likely to stay in the Netherlands but the Eredivise outfit opted against signing him. That opened the door for Braga and he is set to make a permanent move in the coming days. Lagerbielke joined Celtic for pre-season this week but his Parkhead career is now set to come to an end. In total, the Swede made just ten appearances for the Hoops and scored one goal - against Feyenoord in the Champions League. Gustaf Lagerbielke 'set' for Celtic exit as medical planned
The Swede spent last season on loan at FC Twente in the Eredivisie, making 32 appearances across all competitions. Lagerbielke isn't in Brendan Rodgers' long-term plans, and according to Sportbladet, he is set to join Braga, with the Portuguese top-flight side and Celtic close to an agreement. The 25-year-old is expected to undergo a medical later this week. Read more: Lagerbielke joined Celtic two years ago from Elfsborg in his homeland. He played just 10 times in his first 12 months at Parkhead before being sent out on loan. He now looks set to depart permanently. The defender will follow Greg Taylor out the departure door. His move to PAOK was confirmed on Tuesday, and he has since explained the reasons behind his switch: "It's obviously a new chapter for me and my family, but I'm very excited to be here now," Taylor told his new club's official media channel. "The love I was shown from the club, many of the directors, the manager, they showed that they believed in me and were very excited for me to come to the project with such a historical season, the 100 years of the club. "It made me really want to take the jump to be here. We want to be the best team in Greece, we want to win the league and hopefully be successful in Europe. That would be our aim for this season."

Motherwell boss praises training camp despite FC Twente defeat
The Steelmen suffered defeat in their friendly in the Netherlands Motherwell boss Jens Berthel Askou says their training camp in the Netherlands couldn't have come at a better time, despite losing 3-0 to FC Twente in a pre-season friendly. Played in punishing 35 degree heat, Askou used the game to take a look at his players, and was pleased with what he saw. And the Danish boss says the stint in Delden has been useful to get his ideas across. Speaking to club media, Askou said: 'There were some really good moments, especially in the first half. 'It was extremely hot today so it was physically a very difficult game against a top opponent, a top Dutch team. 'It was a good test for us and we showed enough bravery, movement and dynamic around the ball, created some really good opportunities, and could have created some more if they hadn't stopped us, illegally. 'That's exactly what we wanted to get out of it, to see us being brave and dynamic, and trying to do the things we've implemented. I think, in terms of that, the attitude and performance was spot-on. 'There are a lot of things to improve and get better and sharper, but that's totally as expected just now. 'They gave it their best shot. They worked extremely hard, they were extremely disciplined, in terms of the defensive structure. They tried to go high and take the moments to press as often as they could, as often as it would allow them. 'There were some good moments, a lot of good initiative, positive performances and attitude, and in the last third of the game we knew we were going to see a very young team, with players from the academy getting an early exposure to men's football against a top opponent, which was good for them. 'That's not where our full analysis will be in the last 30 minutes.' As Motherwell try to bolster their squad, Askou says younger players will get their opportunity to shine. He said: 'It's important for everyone that we get as many as possible involved. It has been fantastic to have them here. They've worked hard, they've had a fantastic, positive attitude towards learning, and the older guys have really helped them in all sorts of way, pushing them and inviting them into the group. 'We still lack players, but we're working hard to bring them in, and until then, the young guys will have to take their seats and do their best, which they are doing.' Askou added: 'This training camp couldn't have come at a better time. We had some days at home to get acquainted, to start the first phase of implementation and on top of that we've had some really valuable time to get our ideas implemented, to get everyone on board and there has been a lot of good discussions, but also fun, to socialise, and get the group tighter. 'In many ways it has been amazing, and to finish off in 35 degrees today, burning the last calories, was really good. 'It has been a fantastic week here, but also the days leading up to us coming here. There is a lot of new things to shape into one direction and I think it has been a fantastic start, in terms of attitude and willingness to learn, and really doing our best, every single one of us, to adapt. 'I really look forward to us seeing more from the players, but when we sign some new players that will, for sure, lift the quality and width of the squad, and challenge the guys already here to improve even more.'

Celtic receive €2m transfer offer for forgotten player
The Swedish defender arrived at Celtic Park just two summers ago during Brendan Rodgers' first season back at the club. However, after featuring in some of his early games, it became clear the Northern Irishman did not favour the centre-back. Injuries prevented him from being able to kick on in Glasgow. But he was subsequently farmed out on loan to FC Twente in 2024. Now, with three years remaining on his contract, Fabrizio Romano reports that Braga have offered just €2m for his services. Read more: The 25-year-old cost the Hoops £3m in 2023, so if a deal was to go through, this would represent a rare financial loss in the market for the Scottish Premiership champions. He wrote on X: "SC Braga have sent an official bid worth €2m for Gustaf Lagerbielke to Celtic, negotiations ongoing. "The player's keen on the move."

Robin Propper sees Rangers transfer exit myth dispelled as FC Twente chief hits back with spiky retort
The Eredivisie side's technical director has insisted Propper would be very welcome back in Enschede FC Twente transfer chief Jan Streuer insists Robin Propper will be welcomed back to the club with open arms ahead of the Dutchman's crunch talks to decide his Rangers future. The centre back has been heavily linked with a return to the Eredivisie side after just one season at Ibrox where his performances were hampered by injury and lack of consistency. Gers reported back for first team training at Auchenhowie on Monday as new boss Russell Martin gets down to work. The former Scotland international is set to seal a loan swoop for Bournemouth full-back Max Aarons and is also pushing to get Leicester veteran Conor Coady north of the border. However, Martin is also keen to assess his existing options in the squad and is set to sit down with Propper and other players on the fringes of the starting XI to decide the best course of action. FC Twente are in the market for defenders this summer following Sweden international Gustaf Lagerbielke's return to Celtic at the end of his season long loan. The Enschede-based club are closing in on the signing of Shakhtar Donetsk's Israeli centre half Stav Lemkin, who has just returned from a loan spell at Maccabi Tel Aviv. But technical director Streuer insists that won't scupper any deal to bring Propper back to the Netherlands. Speaking to RTV Oost, he said: "I'm not saying that at all. We were interested in Pröpper and he is very welcome. "He was also very welcome at the Rangers training today. Of course he still has a contract there. "We'll wait and see. There was a lot of pressure on him to come back. "We'll wait and see, he has to be one hundred percent behind it himself. "We hope he can come, that's not entirely certain yet. We have to wait and see. It's what I say: He's very welcome with us."
