FootJoy Premiere Series Packard 'Legends Series' Drop III
FootJoy Premiere Series Packard 'Legends Series' Drop III FootJoy's latest limited-edition shoe celebrates the brand's 80th year as the most-worn shoe among professional golfers. Gear: FootJoy Premiere Series Packard – Legends Series Drop III Price: $245 Specs: Premium full-grain leather upper, navy and red detailing, red '1945' midsole mark, VersaTrax+ outsole Who it's for: Golfers who appreciate classic style blended with modern traction and performance What you should know: FootJoy is celebrating 80 consecutive years as the No. 1 shoe on professional tours with the latest limited-edition drop in its Legends Series The deep dive: FootJoy's roots in golf run deep, and now the company is celebrating 80 straight years as the top choice of professionals worldwide, looking back with pride and stepping forward with style in the third release of its Legends Series. This latest drop honors the milestone that started it all — 1945, the year FootJoy began its uninterrupted run as the most-worn golf shoe on professional tours. That dominance didn't happen by accident. It traces back to 1927, when a savvy FootJoy sales rep, Miles Baker, convinced the U.S. Ryder Cup team to lace up in FJ shoes at the first-ever matches. That team won handily, and Johnny Farrell — a team member — kept his pair on en route to a U.S. Open title the following year. Word spread, and when shoe counts became official in 1945, FootJoy was already firmly established. To mark the 80-year streak, FootJoy is releasing Drop III of its Legends Series — this one based on the sleek Premiere Series Packard. The shoe features navy and red accents with a bright red '1945' on the midsole, a subtle nod to the beginning of its iconic reign. The upper is crafted from hand-selected, full-grain leather for a classic look, while the VersaTrax+ outsole offers multidirectional grip. Look for Adam Scott and several other FootJoy players to wear the Premiere Series Packard this week around Oakmont Country Club during the U.S. Open.

Apparent production Toyota Land Cruiser FJ emerges in new patent
Indirect successor to the FJ will reportedly debut in the fourth quarter of the year, suggestively at the Tokyo Mobility Show in October. Only now uncovered, the apparent patent images reportedly shows what the production Toyota Land Cruiser FJ will look like. Image: Top Gear Philippines Sporadically hinted at since the emergence of an outline teaser image at the unveiling of the new Land Cruiser Prado two years ago, the uncovering of a single patent image in Thailand has suggested the unveiling of the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ to happening in 2025 after all. From FT-4X to Compact Cruiser Teased as far back as the New York International Auto Show in 2017 as the FT-4X Concept, the indirect successor to the FJ Cruiser morphed into a second concept called the Compact Cruiser EV four years ago. Initially reported as being based on the unibody TNGA-K platform, and subsequently on the older IMV 0 that underpins the Hilux Champ/Hilux Rangga, no definitive details have emerged so far. ALSO READ: REPORT: Toyota tipped to debut 'junior' Land Cruiser FJ in 2025 According to the mentioned image, obtained by Top Gear Philippines over the weekend, the production 'junior' Land Cruiser will appear as is and, reportedly, debut around October, a month that coincides with the Tokyo Mobility Show. More reminiscent of the Compact Cruiser EV, which formed part of Toyota's planned 16 electric vehicle roll-out, the blocky exterior incorporates elements from both the original FJ Cruiser and Prado, as well as the Land Cruiser 70-series. Toyota Compact Cruiser EV will seemingly become the production Land Cruiser FJ later this year. Image: Toyota Magazine UK Going further, the publication states that, unlike the Compact Cruiser EV, the Land Cruiser FJ will inherent the same engines as the Hilux Champ/Hilux Rangga, namely the 2.4 GD-6 turbodiesel and the normally aspirated 2.7-litre petrol. For the moment, it remains unknown as to whether the FJ will have the option four-wheel-drive as the Hilux Champ/Hilux Rangga is exclusively rear-wheel-driven. More soon Likely to be positioned above the all-new RAV4, a hybrid variant has also been mulled, although at present, no other details are unknown and are therefore open to speculation. Given the uncovering of the images and patent, submitted in Thailand at the end of January this year, don't be surprised if official images or even spy shots do emerge within the next few months. Toyota FJ Cruiser successor revealed in patent filing
The exterior of the long-rumoured Toyota FJ Cruiser successor has been exposed in a patent filing in the Philippines. First discovered by Top Gear Philippines, the SUV bears a striking resemblance to shadowy vehicle teased at the launch of the 250-Series LandCruiser Prado, as well as the 2022 Compact Cruiser EV concept (below). All three vehicles have a stepped side window line, a C-pillar so thick it could block out the sun, and black wheel arch extensions that blend into the bumpers. Overall the design blends elements of the FJ Cruiser and the 70-Series LandCruiser. Hundreds of new car deals are available through CarExpert right now. Get the experts on your side and score a great deal. Browse now. The FJ Cruiser successor could be branded as the LandCruiser FJ given Toyota Australia successfully trademarked the name back last year. Rumours indicate the new FJ is based on Toyota's IMV-0 body-on-frame architecture which underpins the back-to-basics HiLux Champ ute. Indeed the front ends of the FJ and the Champ have a lot of similarities. Launched in Thailand towards the tail-end of 2023, the HiLux Champ is priced from 459,000 baht ($21,750). Unlike most utes seen on Aussie roads today, the Champ is available solely with a two-seat single cab layout. In short wheelbase form, the Champ with a factory tray is 4970mm long, 1785mm wide, 1735mm tall, and rides on a 2750mm wheelbase. Long wheelbase variants measure 5300mm long and have a 3085mm wheelbase. Three engines are available in the Champ. The petrol options are a 102kW/183Nm 2.0-litre, and a 122kW/245Nm 2.7-litre, with a 110kW/400Nm 2.4-litre turbo-diesel available for those who prefer compression ignition. A five-speed manual or six-speed auto are available. An earlier report out of Japan indicated the new FJ will be around 4500mm long and have a 2750mm wheelbase. Judging from patent image, the FJ will be quite a bit wider than the HiLux Champ. The same publication believes the FJ will come with the Champ's 2.7-litre four-cylinder petrol engine. That would be quite a step down from the FJ Cruiser's 200kW/380Nm 4.0-litre V6 mill. By contrast, the current 4.9m LandCruiser Prado and 5.0m LandCruiser, as well as their Lexus GX and LX siblings, are based on the TNGA-F platform. This architecture is also used by the Toyota Tacoma and Tundra utes, as well as the 4Runner and Sequoia SUVs. It's likely the FJ will significantly undercut the Prado's starting price of $72,500 before on-road costs. It will be interesting to see how the FJ is priced compared to the Fortuner SUV. The seven-seat Fortuner is based on the HiLux, and starts from $53,775 before on-road costs.
