Former SC spokesperson to head human rights lawyers group
The Free Legal Assistance Group (FLAG), a network of human rights lawyers, has appointed Atty. Theodore C. Te as its interim chairman starting on Monday, June 20, 2025.
"Ted, FLAG's elected vice-chairman for Luzon and regional coordinator for Metro Manila, was appointed by the FLAG National Board at its meeting on June 27, 2025, to serve until the general membership convenes to elect new national and regional officers," the group said in a statement signed by Secretary General Maria Socorro I. Diokno.
"FLAG welcomes Ted's leadership as we look forward to meeting the dauting challenges ahead," they added.
Atty. Te he was the Chief Public Information Officer of the Supreme Court of the Philippines from 2013 - 2018. He is an assistant professor at the University of the Philippines and Department of International Humanitarian and Human Rights Law, Philippine Judicial Academy (Philja) chairperson, among others.
Atty. Te succeeds human rights lawyer and Akbayan Representative Chel Diokno, who was head of the group for more than two decades.
