Seattle Mariners fans fed up with megaphone preachers
The Brief Baseball fans are frustrated by preachers using megaphones near Mariners games, causing disturbances while they wait in line. Concerns have been raised about the legality of the noise levels, with Seattle's municipal code prohibiting unreasonable noise that disturbs others. The Seattle City Attorney's office is aware of the issue and is working with city departments to address the situation. SEATTLE - Baseball fans are fed up with being harassed by preachers using megaphones anytime they want to head to a Mariners game. On Wednesday, lines to get into the 12:40 p.m. Mariners game stretched down the sidewalk. While people waited in line, preachers blasted their sermons through megaphones, sometimes as close as a few inches away from fans waiting to get into the stadium. "It's loud. He's in your face, walking around," said Rhyan Langsholt. "Obviously, there is freedom of speech, but others also have a right to not have to deal with it." A recent post on Reddit asked if the decibel level of the preacher's megaphones is even legal. According to the Seattle municipal code: "It is unlawful for any person knowingly to cause or make, or for any person in possession of property knowingly to allow or originate from the property, unreasonable noise which disturbs another," What they're saying FOX 13 Seattle reached out to the Seattle City Attorney's office, who told us they are aware of the concerns related to excessively loud sound amplification directed at visitors to Seattle sports stadiums. The city attorney has directed staff in the office to work with the executive branch departments to find answers. FOX 13 Seattle asked the preachers if they would want to talk about the situation, but they ignored the questions and just continued their megaphone sermon. Witness captures video of plane crashing into water near Mukilteo, WA
MUKILTEO, Wash. - Witnesses captured video of a plane crashing into the water near Lighthouse Park in Mukilteo Sunday. Some bystanders also jumped in the water to rescue the passengers inside. Mukilteo police say the pilot made an emergency landing with the plane at around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. Video shows a Cessna dropping towards the water, so close to Lighthouse Park, witnesses could see the pilot and passengers inside. South County Fire Commissioner Michael Fearnehough was enjoying a day off at the park and started recording video on his cell phone when he saw the plane coming in over the water with landing gear down. "The plane flew past our position. I knew they were in trouble, so I said, 'Call 911'," said Fearnehough. He ran towards the docks where the plane went in. "By the time I was able to get across the park here, it had already hit the water and submerged here at the end of the dock," said Fearnehough. Fortunately, the pilot placed the plane right next to the docks and several people went into the water, opened the doors and started pulling people out. "The folks in the plane did seem distressed," said Fearnehough. Mukilteo police say the plane lost power with the pilot communicating with the tower at Paine Field that they needed to make an emergency landing. "I think the entire system worked exactly the way it should have been," said Fearnehough. He says a quick response by onlookers and emergency responders as well as the pilot's skill in landing right near the dock likely saved lives. "Expert piloting if you think about it. The pilot was completely in control, knew where he was going to put the plane in a safe location, and bystanders…were able to retrieve the folks out of the plane quickly," said Michael Fearnehough. Mukilteo police say the three people who were rescued were checked by fire crews and were "doing OK" as of Sunday afternoon. Renton, WA couple looks to move after claiming years of homophobic harassment
The Brief A Renton couple says they're facing ongoing homophobic harassment, including slurs and an attempted break-in at their home. Fernando Vega says he was shot with an airsoft gun after confronting a group trying to break into his sister's room. Renton Police are investigating the incidents, and the family is raising funds to move to a safer neighborhood. RENTON, Wash. - A Renton couple says they are looking to move to a new home after enduring years of homophobic harassment in the Fairwood neighborhood. Fernando Vega says his Ring camera captured kids in his apartment complex ripping off a Pride flag from his porch in the summer of 2023. Vega says he spoke with the boy's parents, who later apologized. But in April 2025, Vega says his Ring camera captured a boy, claiming he was the person who stole his Pride flag in 2023. Vega claims he, his husband and his sister have suffered harassment, homophobic and racial slurs, and this past week, an attempted break-in. "I do not believe this is a joke, this is malicious," said Vega. Vega says he and his family were at home on Wednesday night, when a group tried to break into his sister's room, and he went running after them. "That's when I told them they needed to get off the property, yelling at them, trying to get them to leave," said Vega. Instead of apologizing, Vega says someone in the group pulled out an airsoft gun and began shooting at him. "I was hit probably between 20 to 30 times," said Vega. The Renton Police Department confirms officers did meet with Vega for a report of malicious mischief, and they are currently investigating this case. In the meantime, Vega and his family are trying to move to a more accepting neighborhood and have started a GoFundMe to help them with moving expenses.
