Alison Brie Heads Into Witness Protection in New FX Pilot Created by THE SOPRANOS' David Chase — GeekTyrant

Alison Brie is heading to coastal Maine, but not for vacation. The GLOW and Community star has officially signed on to lead FX's untitled Witness Protection pilot, a thriller-drama. The story centers on a high-end D.C. madam who, after a violent falling out with her partner, flips and enters witness protection with her daughter. FX says it's a contemporary take on an unproduced script by The Sopranos creator David Chase . While Chase has stepped back from the project due to an upcoming film shoot, the creative baton has been passed to Clipped duo Hannah Fidell and Gina Welch. Fidell, who will also direct the pilot, shares co-showrunning duties with Welch. Nicole Lambert of Riverain Pictures is on board as executive producer, and FX Productions is handling the pilot. Brie's a strong actress who's proven she can balance drama and dark comedy with ease, and her resume keeps expanding in interesting new directions. Most recently, she starred opposite Annette Bening in Peacock's Apples Never Fall , co-wrote and headlined Dave Franco's Somebody I Used to Know , and teamed up with Jeff Baena for the indie dark comedy Spin Me Round , starring alongside Molly Shannon and Aubrey Plaza. Up next, she's playing Evil-Lyn in Masters of the Universe from Amazon MGM and Mattel Films and will soon be seen in Together , a horror drama she produced and stars in with Dave Franco.

THE BEAR Season 4 Serves Up Its Premiere Date and Here's When You Can Dig In — GeekTyrant

FX has announced the release date for The Bear Season 4, and fans won't have to wait long. All ten episodes are set to hit Hulu on Wednesday, June 25 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT, and they're dropping all at once. Time to clear your schedule and prep your snacks because Carmy and the crew are back in the kitchen. Season 4 picks up with Carmen 'Carmy' Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White), Sydney (Ayo Edebiri), and Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) pushing hard to level up their restaurant game. After turning their humble sandwich shop into a fine dining spot, they're now aiming even higher, but that means even more chaos, pressure, and very likely, a few kitchen meltdowns. The ensemble cast includes Abby Elliott, Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Matty Matheson who all return, while Oliver Platt and Molly Gordon continue their recurring roles. These characters have become the show's heart, and watching them adapt, grow, and clash in pursuit of culinary greatness is half the fun. Behind the scenes, series creator Christopher Storer is still at the helm as executive producer alongside Joanna Calo, Josh Senior, Cooper Wehde, Tyson Bidner, Hiro Murai, Matty Matheson, and Rene Gube. FX Productions continues to back the series, which has become one of the most emotionally-charged and genuinely addictive shows on TV. No plot details have been spilled beyond the central trio's relentless pursuit of perfection, but given the track record, expect high stakes, raw emotion, and maybe a few unexpected guests. The Bear doesn't play it safe, and that's exactly why we keep coming back to watch it. So, mark your calendar, sharpen your knives, and get ready. Season 4 is almost here, and if past seasons are anything to go by, it's going to bring the heat.

Ben Kronengold and Rebecca Shaw's ‘Adults' Sets FX Premiere Date

Ben Kronengold and Rebecca Shaw's 'Adults' has set a May 28 premiere date on FX. The half-hour comedy series, which stars Malik Elassal as Samir, Lucy Freyer as Billie, Jack Innanen as Paul Baker, Amita Rao as Issa and Owen Thiele as Anton, follows a group of twenty-somethings in New York trying to be good people, despite being neither 'good' nor 'people' just yet. The five friends crash together in Samir's childhood home, where they share their meals, anxieties and, occasionally, toothbrushes. The show puts a slightly heightened twist on the wins, losses and humiliations of starting out in the adult world. Whether they're trying to get ahead at work, navigating the healthcare system, hosting a dinner party or dating in the age of Find My Friends, the group is finding that nothing about the real world is simple, and all their best intentions tend to make things worse. Guest stars will include Charlie Cox, Julia Fox, D'Arcy Carden, Grace Kuhlenschmidt, John Reynolds and Ray Nicholson. The project, which was initially titled 'Snowflakes,' first received a pilot order in January 2024 and would go on to be given a series order in July. In addition to Kronengold and Shaw, executive producers on 'Adults' include Nick Kroll ('Big Mouth,' 'The League'), Stefani Robinson ('Atlanta,' 'What We Do in the Shadows'), Sarah Naftalis ('What We Do in the Shadows') and Jonathan Krisel ('Baskets,' 'English Teacher'). Alicia Van Couvering ('Tiny Furniture,' 'Drinking Buddies') also serves as an executive producer under Kroll's Good At Business banner. 'Adults' is produced by FX Productions. The first two episodes will drop May 28 at 9 p.m. ET on FX, with two new episodes dropping every Wednesday for the following three weeks. The entire eight-episode season will also be available next day on Hulu and FX On Demand. The post Ben Kronengold and Rebecca Shaw's 'Adults' Sets FX Premiere Date appeared first on TheWrap.

Elizabeth Olsen to Star in FX Drama Pilot "Seven Sisters"

FX has ordered a pilot for a new drama series starring Elizabeth Olsen, which will see the actress reunite with her 'Martha Marcy May Marlene' director Sean Durkin. The pair's new collaboration will also carry an alliterative, though shorter, title: 'Seven Sisters.' The episode, from FX Productions will see Olsen playing a sister who begins to hear a mysterious voice, leading her large family (presumably of seven sisters, plus potentially more members) to unravel under the weight of their secrets. Along with Olsen and Durkin's attachment, Will Arbery is credited for writing the pilot. Arbery, Durkin and Garrett Basch are executive producers. Basch has a proven relationship with FX, where his banner Dive holds a first-look deal. He's launched several series at the network, including 'Devs,' 'Reservation Dogs' and 'What We Do in the Shadow,' as well as an upcoming noir starring Ethan Hawke from 'Dogs' co-creator Sterlin Harjo. The 'Seven Sisters' pilot sees Olsen and Durkin reuniting nearly a decade and a half after debuting the indie 'Martha Marcy May Marlene.' The film marked Durkin's first feature film, kicking off a body of work that has gone on to include Jude Law and Carrie Coon's dark comedy 'The Nest' and the wrestling weepie biopic 'The Iron Claw.' 'Martha Marcy' was also Olsen's first film performance outside of child actor turns in family films starring her sisters, Mary-Kate and Ashley. The thriller earned strong reviews at the time and was nominated for four awards at the Independent Spirits, with nods for best first feature and Olsen in best female lead. Durkin won a directing award at Sundance after the film's festival premiere.
