Saudi Arabia's foreign minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud met his Iranian counterpart Abbas Aragchi in Mecca on Tuesday and they discussed bilateral ties and the latest developments in the region, Saudi state news agency SPA said. Aragchi also held "fruitful" conversations with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman, the Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said in a later post on X, without clarifying where the talks were held. Earlier, Iran's foreign ministry spokesperson had said Aragchi would visit Saudi Arabia on his way back from Brazil to discuss the peace and security of the region. Argachi's visit to the Gulf kingdom is the first since Iran and Israel concluded a 12-day air war.

Saudi Arabia's current priority is a permanent Gaza ceasefire, foreign minister says
DUBAI: Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud said on Friday that the kingdom's current priority is reaching a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, when asked about the possibility of normalising ties with Israel. He was speaking during a visit to Moscow. In 2024, the Saudi foreign minister said that there can be no normalisation of ties with Israel without resolving the Palestinian issue. 613 killed at Gaza aid distribution sites, near humanitarian covoys, says UN 'What we are seeing is the Israelis are crushing Gaza, the civilian population of Gaza,' he said.
