Ye Fans Demand Refunds Following Chaotic Shanghai Concert, Member Of Rapper's Team Responds

Update: 6:00 p.m. PT (July 14, 2025) – One of Ye's musical directors reached out to VIBE regarding the Shanghai controversy and clarified what actually happened from an internal perspective. 'We put together a hell of a set and the show was incredible. [Ye] performed for almost 2 hours STRAIGHT in the RAIN only taking one water break, so he wouldn't pass out. Some of them production elements were first of its kind and have never been done before […] This is for sure going to be his comeback tour. Just need the world to be able to hear about it without the negativity,' the statement read. Read our original story below… Fans of Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, are demanding refunds after claiming the controversial rapper put on a chaotic show in Shanghai, China on Saturday (July 12). One reported attendee live-tweeted the entire ordeal and claimed Ye started the show over 45 minutes late. 'So I've been a fan of Kanye West since I was a teen. 'MBDTF' opened my ears to the sonics in music. Was hard to get tix for him in Shanghai but got it. Was hyped af. Couldn't even sleep night before. But. Worst concert I've ever been to. @kanyewest u can be better,' he tweeted with footage of the Chicago native performing 'Famous' into 'All Of The Lights.' The guest accused Ye of 'mostly lip synching' during the show and that 'his microphone must have been up less than 20% of the time.' During the encore, the rapper also allegedly 'disappeared for over 20 minutes at one point with tracks like 'Wolves' just played out with him nowhere in sight.' The tweet read, 'I could have just played your music at home man. Came to see u perform????' Ye reportedly 'stayed in the circle so nobody could actually see him closely even if you were vip' and 'wore a mask the entire show.' The guest claimed Ye 'kept stopping mid-songs' and seemed unhappy with the setlist. 'He kept complaining about the order of the songs and repeatedly started tracks and then asked to stop and come back to those later […] He seemed genuinely disengaged as if the show was some kind of contractual obligation. Only audience interaction was walking around and saying let me [hear] some noise,' the attendee tweeted. Other footage surfaced of guests demanding refunds. The initial tweeter concluded his rant by stating, '@kanyewest you should not tour. It's not for you. Stick to the studio. Drop surprise albums and be that guy. I'm the biggest supporter of (most of) your work. You waste people's time, excitement and money by pretending that you're a performer.' Following the show, Ye thanked his Chinese fans on X. 'Thank you to my fans in China and the Chinese government The energy was amazing Love all of you forever Can't wait till the next show,' said the father of four. He has upcoming shows in Slovakia from July 18 to 20 and in Korea on July 26. ALLDAY Project Fans Embrace Shipping: Woochan and Youngseo's Chemistry Ignites Chan-Cat Trend

The newly debuted K-pop group ALLDAY Project, known for its co-ed concept, is generating buzz as fans actively ship members Youngseo and Woochan. Netizens have noticed their strong chemistry and matching accessories, leading to the creation of the 'Chan-Cat' ship. Despite Korean netizens' typical reluctance towards idol shipping, the positive response to Woochan and Youngseo's interactions has been surprisingly enthusiastic. Shipping idols has almost always been a taboo topic to approach. While the opinion differs from person to person, most do not look forward to shipping their idols with other celebrities. At a turning point, however, fans of the newly debuted K-pop group ALLDAY Project are another story altogether! ALLDAY project members are being shipped together The ALLDAY Project, known for its unique co-ed concept, has been making headlines left and right. Recently, however, the topic of debate for the group has been around the members Youngseo and Woochan. The two have actively shown strong chemistry with each other ever since the group debuted officially. Fans of the group have also managed to take note of this and have even started shipping the two members together as well! Fans react Fans of ALLDAY have been actively shipping Woochan and Youngseo together, citing that the two have work-matching accessories and always have 'undeniable' chemistry between one another. Korean netizens are known to not be fully accepting of shipping idols; however, the recent rise in posts regarding Woochan and Youngseo, who have also been given the nickname 'Chan-Cat', has been surprising. One fan commented after sharing a video of the two that, 'Anyone want to ship Chan-Cat? Firstly, the reason I like this video is because Woochan put Youngseo's bottle on the table for her, and Youngseo waited until Woochan was done tidying up before doing rehearsals together. They're such a warm pair. What should I do? I need this ship to go viral!' Another netizen shared a post stating, 'Woochan has described Youngseo as 'a really pretty member'!!!!!' while another shared a photo of the two, stating, I can totally see from here how cute he thinks Youngseo is. Look at his lip corners!' About the ALLDAY Project The ALLDAY Project is a new initiative that considers the co-ed concept. The idol group that recently debuted with 'Famous' has five members in total as well: Annie, Tarzzan, Bailey, Woochan, and Youngseo. The group is based off the idea that instead of following trends, they want to become the new trendsetters.

New coed K-pop group Allday Project blazes different route to success

Challenging industry norms, group bets on streaming, global tours over romantic fan appeal For more than a decade, mixed-gender groups have struggled to find success in the K-pop industry. The last major breakthrough was Koyote, which rose to fame in the early 2000s and remains active today. While DSP Media's KARD has kept the concept alive in recent years, the group has not seen major commercial success, largely due to one key reason: It has not been able to offer fans the kind of pseudo-romantic fantasy that tends to fuel K-pop fandoms. As Hybe Chair Bang Si-hyuk — the mastermind behind BTS — once said, K-pop's explosive global growth over the past decade has been driven by "superfans" who are intensely loyal and emotionally engaged. It is widely understood in the industry that women make up the majority of paying K-pop fans. This demographic trend gives boy bands an edge in sales, as they tend to outperform girl groups in physical album sales and concert ticket revenues. Simulating a romantic bond with fans has become a core marketing tactic: Idols livestream frequently and send personal messages through fandom platforms like Weverse to maintain that connection. 'In K-pop, it's incredibly important to stir emotions like pseudo-romance or girl crush,' said music critic Lim Hee-yun. 'With coed groups, fans may speculate about members dating each other, which is considered taboo in the K-pop scene. That's why Allday Project appears to be targeting the global market more than the domestic one — perhaps sensing an opportunity for coed acts abroad.' A former executive at a major K-pop agency echoed this sentiment, adding that Allday Project is likely focused on international touring rather than physical album sales. 'Coed groups won't sell as many albums. Their music needs to stand out on streaming platforms,' the official said. 'Even if album sales are weak, strong musical identity and recognition overseas can lead to solid concert ticket sales.' The source also noted the group's age makeup: 'Why do you think all the members are adults, with the oldest debuting at 23? It's intentional — they're aiming for a mature, global audience.' Breaking away from easy listening In line with this global-first strategy, Allday Project has also broken away from the "easy listening" trend that has dominated K-pop over the last two to three years. Their latest single, 'Famous,' released last month, features heavy synthesizer basslines and guitar riffs layered over danceable beats, while the rap flows and melodic lines bring a sense of urgency and edge. 'Famous' stormed onto domestic streaming charts within hours of its release. Premiering as a music video first, the track entered Melon's Top 100 at No. 9 within six hours, eventually climbing to No. 1. The group's follow-up, 'Wicked,' debuted at No. 63 on the same chart and reached No. 2 on Vibe's real-time trending chart, signaling impressive digital power for a rookie group. The group's international momentum is also picking up. 'Wicked' was released in two versions, and its 'Movie Set' edition ranked No. 6 on YouTube's trending chart in the US. On Spotify, 'Famous' has racked up over 900,000 streams, while 'Wicked' has surpassed 400,000. Lim says the group could appeal to audiences who are more drawn to music and performance than mere idol-fan dynamics. 'There's potential here to spark a buzz among listeners who aren't already part of boy or girl group fandoms,' he said. 'Allday Project could offer something fresh as a coed group in today's oversaturated K-pop landscape.'

Chaebol heiress, former Hybe trainee and prodigy rapper: Why Allday Project is going viral

Allday Project's predebut music video 'Famous' hits 2.5 million views in 16 hours, tops YouTube Korea trending charts Allday Project, the first coed K-pop group to debut under renowned producer Teddy Park's The Black Label, is turning heads across the industry — not just for being the industry's first mixed-gender group in eight years since DSP Media's Kard, but for the star-studded resumes and diverse backgrounds of its members. Just 16 hours after releasing the prerelease music video for 'Famous' on Monday, the clip surpassed 2.5 million views on YouTube. It also secured the No. 1 spot on YouTube Korea's Trending chart, overtaking aespa's 'Dirty Work (Performance)' and Plave's 'Hide and Seek,' which ranked No. 2 and No. 3. Globally, the video reached No. 4 on YouTube's US Trending chart and No. 5 in Brazil, demonstrating its international resonance among K-pop fans. The slick cyberpunk visuals of the music video — where spinning accelerates toward the center to express a rising, untouchable energy — play a part in drawing viewers. But much of the buzz stems from the viral interest surrounding the individual members, even before their official debut next week. One reason for the group's spotlight is the presence of Annie, or Moon Seo-yoon, who is the granddaughter of Shinsegae Group chairwoman Lee Myung-hee and the eldest daughter of Shinsegae Group president Chung Yoo-kyung. Annie, 23, opened up about her decision to pursue a K-pop career against her family's wishes in a debut documentary released on the group's official YouTube channel on June 13 — a revelation that made headlines both in Korea and internationally. Another standout member is Youngseo, 19, once confirmed as part of the final lineup for Illit on the television survival show 'R U Next?' in 2023. However, just before her debut, she parted ways with Belift Lab, the agency behind Illit, sparking multiple rumors about her next steps, now culminating in her debut with Allday Project. The third female member, Bailey, 21, is already known in the K-pop scene as a choreographer. She began working professionally at the age of 14 in the US and has choreographed routines for Red Velvet's 'Psycho,' Lisa's 'Money' and Taeyang's 'Vibe.' Her experience includes being a backup dancer for Janet Jackson — further solidifying her credibility. Among the two male members, Woochan is arguably the more familiar name. He appeared on Mnet's 'Show Me the Money 6' in 2017 at just 12 years old, making him the show's youngest-ever contestant and finalist. In 2019, he debuted as a soloist with the single 'Reality Check Time,' showing musical depth beyond his years. He was also once rumored to be part of Big Hit Music's next boy group lineup — the agency behind BTS — but the debut ultimately fell through. The final member, Tarzzan, 22, is already known in fashion and music circles as a model. Since 2022, he has appeared in music videos like I-dle's 'I Do' and NewJeans' 'Supernatural,' while gracing the pages of various fashion magazines. Allday Project is set to officially debut on June 23, with their debut single 'Famous' and the main track 'Wicked.' jaaykim@
