The incident happened at Colonial Downs on Thursday and led to the abandonment of the meeting. Medics rushed to help 31-year-old Conner after his horse Stanza clipped the heels of first-place finisher Montador. Conner was airlifted to the VCU Trauma Center in Richmond for further assessment and scans confirmed the nature of his injuries. His wife Lucy thanked wellwishers for sending messages during the challenging time. She wrote on X: "Thank you to everyone that has reached out. He did some walking with assistance today and is getting the use of both arms back slowly. Like everything else he does he is all-in and trying so incredibly hard." Stanza, a three-year-old gelding trained by Elizabeth Merryman, was reported to be unscathed in the stable area after the Maiden Special Weight contest over five-and-a-half furlongs. In-race comments said Montador had veered towards the outer entering the final furlong with Francisco Arrieta riding, which led to the fall. The horse was disqualified and placed last, with 9-5 favourite Cheval De Guerre promoted by the officials. Bosses at the racecourse in Virginia chose to call off the remainder of the card and they said in a statement: "In support of the jockey colony at Colonial Downs, we will be canceling the remainder of the race card today. Our thoughts are with Conner and his team." Conner's agent Paula Bacon told BloodHorse that Conner had "regained his feeling everywhere" and was "in very good spirits" when she spoke to him. FanDuel TV presenter Gabby Gaudet gave their viewers the latest update: "He was unseated and taken to the local hospital. What turned from an extremely scary incident, it seems there is some positive news now." A GoFundMe page set up by Hilary Pridham has raised more than $40,825 USD to assist the rider during his rehabilitation. "Please let's all rally round to support him during this time, and hope he is able to get back to doing what he loves," she said. Conner has been licensed since 2014 and he celebrated his 1,000th career victory three years ago.

Bucks Receive Good News Ahead of NBA Free Agency originally appeared on Athlon Sports. ESPN's Shams Charania reported on Sunday that Milwaukee Bucks big man Bobby Portis Jr. declined his $13.4 million player option. Following that decision, the Bucks confirmed that Portis will remain in Milwaukee after agreeing to a new deal. Ahead of the NBA free agency, the organization secured one of its core players. Advertisement According to Charania, Portis has agreed to sign a three-year, $44 million contract to stay with the Bucks. The new deal features a player option in the final year, which will be for the 2027-28 season. Portis is one of the most important players for the team's bench unit. Not my decision to know if I want to come back to the Bucks or whether they want to resign me." TV presenter shares grim injury after being kicked by horse at Royal Ascot
The 24-year-old presenter was kicked by the horse when it was startled by a passing truck and lashed out. She has now opened up about what injuries the painful incident left her with TV presenter Andie Biancone was left on crutches after being kicked by a horse in a freak accident at Royal Ascot this week. The rising star of US network FanDuelTV, 28, had travelled to the UK to lead her father's filly Lennilu in the prestigious Queen Mary Stakes. Sadly, those plans were derailed after a painful incident on the gallops. Biancone was walking Lennilu when another horse in their company was spooked by a passing truck. The startled horse lashed out and struck Biancone's foot, causing what doctors suspect is a soft tissue injury. She spoke about the terrifying moment to ITV Racing, sharing: "Lennilu and I were coming back from her canter yesterday (on Tuesday) and her company horse got spooked by a truck, kicked out, and unfortunately kicked my foot. "But Lenni was fine, she packed me twenty minutes home, I was sobbing, and she was just like, 'are you good, mum?'" The injury was serious enough that Biancone was unable to perform her duties as Lennilu's groom during the race. She has since returned to the US for further medical evaluation and will remain on crutches while recovering. Speaking to FanDuelTV, she added: "Lennilu was fine, but the pony was spooked, he bucked straight over his head and hit me in the foot. Team Lennilu is very grateful that I took the hit, took one for the team. It would be a shame to have a filly come all this way, be doing so well, and get kicked in the ribs. "So my ankle did suffer the worst of it, we got it looked at at Newmarket, they said no visible breaks, probably just soft tissue damage. I will probably get a second opinion in the United States but as of right now, we're crutching it." Despite the unfortunate turn of events, there was reason to celebrate as Lennilu put in a strong performance in the Queen Mary Stakes on Wednesday, finishing third behind Aidan O'Brien's True Love. Trainer Patrick Biancone was proud of the horse's performance, saying: "She is only a baby. I liked the fact she fought back at the end. We will go home and give her a break and then we'll see her in Del Mar for the Breeders' Cup." This comes after a horse called Harry's Girl tragically died on the second day of the races. The poor dame broke down just seconds into the Queen Mary Stakes. Ascot Racecourse put out a statement about the death, which read: "Unfortunately, Harry's Girl suffered a fatal injury during The Queen Mary Stakes. Our thoughts go out to all connections at this time." ITV Racing presenter Ed Chamberlain confirmed the sad news during the broadcaster's coverage of the meet shortly after the conclusion of the race, saying her sad passing 'cast a shadow' over True Love's triumph.
