Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE vs Motorola Razr (2025): Expected differences
Samsung will soon be announcing its new lineup of foldables, and this time around there is a pretty good chance we will see not one but two Galaxy Z Flip models. The new one will be called the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, and if you are at all familiar with Samsung's Fan Edition devices — you know what to expect. With the introduction of the Z Flip 7 FE, which is expected to go at the affordable price of $799, Motorola's entry-level Razr will finally have some competition to run against. But can Samsung deliver? Well, rumor has it that the Fan Edition of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will simply be a slightly toned down Galaxy Z Flip 6 . Based on that, we would venture to guess that while it will be better than the Razr (2025) in some ways, in others — not so much. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE vs Motorola Razr (2025) expected differences: *expected Table of Contents: Design Display Performance Camera Battery Specs Summary The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is expected to reuse the exact same chassis and display configuration as the Z Flip 6 . That means an aluminum frame, Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the outer panels, and a 3.4-inch cover display. The Razr has a similar look, but it's display is fully wrapped around the dual camera system and is slightly larger. Also, instead of a glass back panel, it comes with an aluminum or a silicone one. As for the size difference, here's what we expect: *expected The Razr (2025) has an IP48 rating for dust and water resistance, and we expect the same from the Z Flip 7 FE. Display Differences Like a lot of its hardware, the Z Flip 7 FE is expected to reuse the same 6.7-inch LTPO AMOLED panel from the Z Flip 6 . with a 120Hz refresh rate and 2600 nits of peak brightness. That means excellent outdoor visibility and a smooth display. The cover screen will also be reused, so expect to see a 3.4-inch display with a rather low resolution of 720 x 748 pixels and just a 60Hz refresh rate. Then we have the Razr (2025), which is a tiny bit better in every way when it comes to the displays. For starters, you get a slightly larger 6.9-inch main and 3.6-inch cover screen. The cover display also has a higher resolution, which makes everything on it look crispier. *expected But probably the best cover-display advantage the Razr has over the Z Flip is that it allows full app access. In contrast, you have to install the Good Lock app on the Z Flip to achieve the same. Hopefully, Samsung catches up this year on this front. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is rumored to ship with the same Exynos 2400 chip found in some Galaxy S24 models, which puts it firmly in flagship territory. Paired with 8 GB of RAM and UFS 4.0 storage, we expect great performance. On the other hand, the Motorola Razr (2025) uses the MediaTek Dimensity 7400X, a mid-range chip with. In our benchmarks, it fell well behind flagship chips — it scored 3037 on Geekbench 6 (multi) and only 1030 in 3DMark. Not to mention that the Razr uses outdated LPDDR4X RAM and slower UFS 2.2 storage. These hardware choices, combined with the mid-tier chip, result in a noticeably sluggish experience. The Z Flip 7 FE is said to come with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 fast storage, which should go perfectly with its flagship processor and result in a snappy and smooth experience. *expected On the software side, the Flip 7 FE should launch with Android 15 and One UI 7, with Samsung likely committing to at least four OS updates. Motorola's Razr (2025) ships with Android 15 as well, but Motorola typically promises fewer updates (3 years), and its skin is lighter, with a more Material You-style (vanilla Android) design. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is expected to carry over the same dual-camera setup we saw on the Z Flip 6 : a 50 MP main camera paired with a 12 MP ultra-wide. In our review of the Z Flip 6 , we found that the new 50 MP sensor delivered much sharper images with improved dynamic range and more consistent colors, especially in daylight and well-lit scenes. Low-light performance on the Z Flip 6 also benefited from better detail retention and less noise. The Motorola Razr (2025) also sports a 50 MP main camera, along with a 13 MP ultra-wide. In our testing, we were surprised by how solid the main camera was — it produced sharp photos with good contrast and pleasing colors. However, its dynamic range wasn't always reliable, and highlights could sometimes blow out in challenging lighting. The ultra-wide was usable, but lagged behind the main camera in detail and sharpness. *expected One of the benefits of a foldable phone is using its main cameras to snap a selfie. But for the occasional situations where you can't go for that option, both the Z Flip 7 FE and the Razr (2025) have selfie cameras embedded in the inner foldable display. The FE is said to come with the same selfie10 MP snapper — again, just like on the Z Flip 6 — which delivered sharp, balanced photos with good dynamic range and colors. The same can be said for the 32 MP inner camera on the Razr (2025). Samsung is expected to equip the Z Flip 7 FE with a 4,000 mAh battery, 25W wired and 15W wireless charging. Those specs are the same as on the Galaxy Z Flip 6, which delivered solid but not amazing results in our battery tests. The Motorola Razr (2025) is actually somewhat ahead here, with a slightly larger 4,200 mAh battery and 30W wired charging. In our testing, the Razr (2025) managed over 8 hours of screen-on time, with particularly good efficiency during video playback and browsing. *expected The Razr does not support wireless charging, though, which is one of the main trade-offs when we compare it to the Z Flip. Still, for a budget foldable, the Razr delivered reliable battery life in our daily use and beat the Z Flip 6 's results in most scenarios. *expected So, there you have it! Will the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE overthrow the entry-level Motorola Razr? Well, that's unlikely, but it does appear to have several things going for it. For starters, there is no doubt that it will be the more powerful phone between the two if it comes with the Exynos 2400. Not to mention the faster memory and storage. But where it will lack is — like previous years — the displays, which are arguably the most important part for a foldable phone . I do see one way Samsung could really make Motorola sweat with the Z Flip 7 FE, though, and that's if it finally makes the cover display more user-friendly and versatile. If that happens, then it's slightly smaller size would matter much less. Whatever the case ends up being, it is good to see competition in the affordable clamshell segment, because that means these two manufacturers will be pushed to offer users the best budget flip phone they can muster.

These Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE prices sound pretty bad, but they may not be official or final
If you're thinking of snubbing Samsung's two ultra-high-end foldable devices expected out in a couple of weeks in favor of the company's first-ever Fan Edition flip phone, it might be crucial to know exactly what you will sacrifice and how much money you're looking at saving. Well, that latter part is moving one step closer to being confirmed today with some "B7R" price points discovered at a European retailer. That's the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE's internal codename, mind you, and while the figures I'm going to tell you about in the next lines are unlikely to coincide with the handset's recommended pricing at its manufacturer, they can give you a pretty decent idea of what to expect from this budget-friendly addition to Samsung's foldable portfolio. That's the Z Flip 7 Fan Edition for you in a nutshell at €865 and up in "Euroland" and a minimum of £738 on British shores. Equivalent to around $1,000, those numbers don't include all taxes, actually going up to almost €1,050 and £890 once VAT is added in, which converts to $1,200 or so. The Z Flip 7 FE looks pretty fly for a relatively inexpensive foldable. | Image Credit -- Evan Blass The Z Flip 6, meanwhile, was officially released at £1,050 and up in the UK and €1,120 in many European countries in an entry-level 256GB storage configuration around this time last year. That means the most affordable Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE model will cost less than Samsung's only 2024 Android-running clamshell even if today's price tags pan out, which I'm not too sure about. Instead, I still expect this Exynos 2400-powered bad boy to start at under $900 in the US, as a number of tipsters and insiders predicted a little while back. In that case, the Z Flip 7 FE's 128GB storage variant could cost less than €900 in countries like France, Italy, or Germany and as little as £750 in Great Britain. The 256GB model, by the way, is today listed at €1,130 and £950 with VAT included, which doesn't sound great... because it's probably the worst case scenario too. That's kinda, sorta what you can expect the Z Flip 7 FE to look like at a first glance. Of course, the Z Flip 6 packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor while this thing is likely to share a somewhat underwhelming Samsung-made Exynos 2400 SoC with the Galaxy S24 FE and possibly the upcoming S25 FE as well. Other than that, though, the design leaked a few months back sure seemed "inspired" by the Z Flip 6 and Z Flip 5 (down to the 6.7 and 3.4-inch screen sizes), and the same goes for a bunch of key specs like a dual 50 + 12MP rear-facing camera system, single 10MP front-facing snapper, 4,000mAh battery capacity, 25W wired charging, and 15W wireless charging support. Yes, that looks an awful lot like the Z Flip 6, but it's apparently not the Z Flip 6. | Image Credit -- Evan Blass All in all, we're clearly not looking at the absolute best foldable phone you'll be able to buy this holiday season, but at the right price, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 Fan Edition could certainly outshine the Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7 following a joint Unpacked announcement on July 9 that's virtually guaranteed at this point. It remains to be seen, of course, if Samsung will manage to manufacture enough Z Flip 7 FE units to handle your demand, as multiple recent reports have hinted at surprisingly modest initial production plans for the world's top smartphone vendor, at least as far as this particular device is concerned. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE vs Galaxy Z Flip 6: The more sensible upgrade?
Samsung appears ready to expand its foldable lineup in 2025 with the launch of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE (Fan Edition) — its first clamshell foldable aimed at a more budget-friendly price point. But if you're eyeing a deal, the upcoming release might make the Galaxy Z Flip 6 more appealing with potential discounts. So the big question is: should you go for the tried-and-true Z Flip 6 , or take a chance on Samsung's first affordable foldable? Based on leaks and reports, the Z Flip 7 FE and Z Flip 6 will share many similarities, including a nearly identical design, the same camera setup, and comparable displays. However, some key differences could tip the scales depending on what matters most to you. Get the Galaxy Z Flip 6 at Amazon with 256GB of storage, and you can save $200 on the model in Silver Shadow or Blue. Don't miss out. Buy at Amazon Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE vs Galaxy Z Flip 6 expected differences: *expected Table of Contents: Design Display Performance Camera Battery Specs Summary The Z Flip 7 FE will likely come with an identical design to the Z Flip 6 . That includes a 6.7-inch inner foldable display and a small outer screen for notifications and widgets. The dimensions and materials are virtually identical: an aluminum frame, Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the outside, and plastic on the inner screen. The FE should get the same IP48 rating for dust and water resistance. *expected The Z Flip 7 FE is said to weigh 187 grams, which is the exact same as the Z Flip 6 . Even the SIM configuration and ports don't seem to be changed. In terms of colors, the FE is expected to ship in a wide range of fun finishes like Mint, Yellow, Peach, and Silver Shadow. Display Differences The Z Flip 7 FE is said to feature a 6.7-inch Foldable Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support. That's exactly the same as what you get on the Z Flip 6 . The resolution is also identical at 1080 x 2640 pixels. Peak brightness is rated at 2600 nits for both models, so outdoor visibility should be equally excellent. *expected The FE will likely use the same 3.4-inch Super AMOLED panel with a 60Hz refresh rate and 720 x 748 resolution. In our Z Flip 6 review, we measured a peak brightness of 1600 nits for the cover display, so we expect the same from the Z Flip 7 FE. testing. This is where things get a little interesting. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, one of the fastest chips on the market. In our testing, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 showed great performance in gaming, multitasking and in demanding tasks such as editing photos. It also came with better sustained performance as it didn't generate as much heat as its predecessor. The Z Flip 7 FE, on the other hand, will use Samsung's in-house Exynos 2400 chip. This 4nm processor isn't bad — Samsung used it in some Galaxy S24 models — but it falls short of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in both CPU and GPU benchmarks. The GPU in particular (Xclipse 940) lags behind Qualcomm's Adreno 750 in graphics performance. RAM is another key difference: the Flip 6 comes with 12 GB across all variants, while the FE model tops out at 8 GB. *expected In terms of software, both phones launch with Android 15 and One UI 7.0. Software support is expected to be similar, with Samsung promising up to 7 years of OS and security updates. Both phones feature the same camera hardware, at least on paper. That includes a 50 MP main camera and a 12 MP ultra-wide. Selfie duties are handled by a 10 MP front-facing snapper. However, the Z Flip 6 benefits from the Snapdragon ISP (image signal processor), which we notice resulted in sharper detail and better low-light shots in our review. So, it's worth noting that the Exynos 2400 chip inside the Z Flip 7 FE could lead to different image processing. *expected From our Z Flip 6 review, we know what this setup is capable of. The main camera delivered noticeably better photos than previous Flip models, especially in daylight. Dynamic range and sharpness were excellent, and color processing took a more natural turn, similar to the Galaxy S24 series. Low-light performance was also improved, with more detail and less aggressive noise reduction compared to the Flip 5. However, video performance lagged slightly behind, particularly in stabilization and level of ultra-wide camera kept its more supportive role, offering good results in well-lit scenes but lost detail and sharpness in dimmer environments. The selfie camera, on the other hand, produced strong results in both natural and artificial light. Both phones should share a 4,000 mAh battery, and that's great news for the more affordable Z Flip 7 FE. In our testing, the Flip 6 delivered a solid 10 hours and 35 minutes of active use — a huge improvement over earlier generations. Based on that, we expect similar results from the FE. The Exynos 2400 might have an impact on battery life, though. Whether it will be a negative or a positive one we can't know for sure. Even if there is a difference, it shouldn't be too significant. *expected Charging speeds and the USB support are identical on both devices. They both offer 25W wired charging and support USB Type-C 3.2, which allows for faster data transfer and broader accessory compatibility. Wireless charging is the same at 15W, and reverse wireless charging (for earbuds or a watch) is also supported at 4.5W. *expected In short, these two phones are nearly identical. The main differences are that the FE version comes with less memory — potentially making it slightly slower — and a different chip, which might have a minor impact on camera performance and battery life. While I usually recommend second-hand devices, in this case, if you're choosing between the Z Flip 7 FE and the Z Flip 6 , the former may be the better buy. That said, if you come across a great deal on the Z Flip 6 or find one in excellent condition, it could still offer a bit more overall.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE leaked prices spell good news for fans
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 | Image credit: PhoneArena The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is a completely new entry in the Galaxy Z series. In an attempt to offer its fans a more affordable price point, Samsung has decided to introduce a cheaper foldable that uses the technology launched one or two years ago (for the most part). This is why we're now talking about Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, a device that's supposed to be specially designed for fans, hence the 'Fan Edition' name tag. But Samsung's Fan Edition phones have never been more about price rather than specs, so the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE's market price might be the only thing that makes it more or less appealing to the masses. Well, we now have the first details about the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE's price, albeit just for one market. South Korean media reports that that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE will cost about KRW 1 million. The problem is Samsung's devices aren't priced similarly in all regions. In fact, South Korea is probably the cheapest place to buy a Samsung foldable smartphone, which makes sense considering it's the company's home means that even if we convert the Korean currency to USD and EUR (or any other currency), it will still be misleading. But just for the sake of information, KRW 1 million equates to $735, €645 or £545. Since South Korea typically gets the cheapest Samsung foldables (at least at launch), we expect the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE to cost more than the amounts mentioned above. However, anything above $800/€800 would probably make the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE nearly an impossible sell especially considering that it doesn't bring anything new to the table. In fact, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is rumored to be just a reskinned Galaxy Z Flip 5/6, featuring a couple of improvements. The biggest one is the Exynos 2400e chipset, which is said to replace the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2/3 that power the Galaxy Z Flip 5 /6 models. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 | Image credit: PhoneArena The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE will be available in two storage sizes: 128GB and 256GB. The report also mentions that the 'vanilla' Galaxy Z Flip 7 will come in 256GB and 512GB options, and that its cost will be the same as the Galaxy Z Flip will probably stop selling the Galaxy Z Flip 6 in the United States soon, but until that happens, the phone is available for around $1,100. If the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE will be priced at $800, it will make a much better deal. It will probably depend on how hard US carriers decide to push Samsung's new affordable foldable to customers, especially since there's enough competition in this specific segment after Motorola recently introduced its new Razr 2025 lineup.

More Galaxy S25 FE details have leaked, camera specs may not pack any surprise
As we approach the September-October window, more leaks and rumours about the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE are expected to surface. In the latest development, a new report hints at the possible rear camera setup of the upcoming Fan Edition phone. According to Galaxy Club, the Galaxy S25 FE is likely to feature an 8-megapixel telephoto lens — so don't expect a major leap in zoom performance. The primary and ultra-wide cameras are expected to be 50-megapixel and 12-megapixel, respectively. This setup sounds familiar, as it's the same as what we saw on the Galaxy S24 FE, though Samsung might swap out the sensors this time — that part remains unclear for the bright side, the Galaxy S25 FE could get a proper front-camera upgrade. According to an earlier leak, the 10-megapixel selfie shooter may be replaced by a 12-megapixel unit — and while that doesn't sound like a big jump on paper, the real change could come from the sensor Samsung chooses and how well it's assured, more details about the Galaxy S25 FE will continue to surface as we get closer to launch. But if you're expecting a revolutionary upgrade, you might want to tone down your expectations. Think of this more as an evolutionary update to the S24 FE — one that fine-tunes a few things instead of reinventing the wheel. Design-wise, don't expect the Galaxy S25 FE to stand out from the rest of the Galaxy S25 series. It'll likely follow Samsung's familiar design language — clean, minimal, and modern — though we're curious to see if it manages to shave off a bit of thickness. On the front, you can expect a flat AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a centre-aligned hole-punch for the selfie camera, and slim bezels all around. It should look and feel every bit like a premium Galaxy phone, just with the Fan Edition about pricing or availability are still under wraps. However, if Samsung follows its usual Fan Edition timeline, the Galaxy S25 FE should see a launch sometime between September and October. Some rumours also suggest that Samsung may launch the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE as well — which would be the first-ever Fan Edition foldable for the price, expect the Galaxy S25 FE to land under the Rs 60,000 mark — making it a more affordable entry into the Galaxy S25 family without giving up too much in terms of from this, Samsung recently unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge at a starting price of $1,099 or Rs 1,09,999 in India. The company's next big launches are expected in July, where the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and possibly Samsung's triple-fold phone may debut.
