In the 2025 NFL Draft, the New York Giants secured a pair of talents in the first round they think can be foundational pieces for the franchise moving forward. As one of these players continues to navigate life in the pros, they received high praise from a member of one of football's most iconic families. After taking Abdul Carter with the third overall pick, the Giants traded into the back end of the first round on draft night. With their second selection of the evening, they went with Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart. The 22-year-old is fresh off a dominant senior season and is widely regarded as one of the top quarterback prospects of his respective class. Heading into his rookie year, Dart is set to take on a backup role behind Russell Wilson. Even though he isn't taking the reins right away, it hasn't stopped him from turning heads with his stellar play. "Jaxson played a lot of football at Ole Miss, a lot of good football," Manning said. "I was just excited for him to be drafted in the first round and particularly New York Giants. We like the Giants. Jayden Daniels Aims Comical Remark at Commanders New Addition
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. During the 2024 season, the Washington Commanders saw the franchise's trajectory change in the blink of an eye. Now on a new course towards contention, the front office wasted little time making win-now moves in the offseason. Washington's offense went through a big change last season as former No. 2 pick Jayden Daniels took the reins at quarterback. He quickly took the league by storm, drastically improving the Commanders' play on the side of the ball with his combination of speed and throwing ability. Daniels' presence resulted in Washington winning double-digit games and punching their ticket to the postseason. The Commanders' run didn't end there, as Daniels was able to carry his positive momentum into the postseason. He helped Washington get within arm's reach of a Super Bowl appearance before getting eliminated at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles. Their biggest swing in the offseason was trading for wide receiver Deebo Samuel. Paired with Terry McLaurin (whenever his holdout comes to an end), he will provide Daniels with a pair of wideouts capable of ripping off a big play at any moment. Still in the early stages of their time together, Daniels seems to approve of the Commanders' latest offensive addition. While at "Fanatic Fest" last week, the rising star gave his thoughts on Samuel entering the fold. Daniels jokingly said he can't wait for veteran WR to inflate his passing numbers with his dynamic skill set. "I'm excited to throw him a little screen and hopefully on the stat sheet it says a touchdown for 80 yards and I didn't have to do any of the work," Daniels said with a grin. Across 15 appearances, he racked totaled 670 yards and three touchdowns. Both are the third-lowest marks for any given season in his career. Now with a chance of scenery, Samuel has a chance to get back in the conversation with the league's best wideouts. He is flanked by a young QB who is looking to make a name for himself and isn't scared to let the ball fly. Also, with McLaurin drawing attention from opposing secondary, lanes should open up for Samuel to impact games on a weekly basis. After being part of a handful of deep runs in San Francisco, Samuel will now attempt to help his new team rise to contender status in the NFC. As he continues to pander to the fan base, one key member of the team sent a message to the former star wideout. This whole ordeal began in New York last weekend when Beckham was in attendance for Fanatics "Fanatic Fest." While on an interview panel, a fan in the crowd shouted to OBJ and begged him to return to the Giants this season. He proceeded to give the crowd what they wanted, responding with "I got you." Earlier this week, Beckham would continue to create intrigue about his suiting up for New York once again. "We still got work to do," Nabers commented along with the smirking emoji. Long after Beckham's days in New York, Nabers has emerged as the latest touted receiver for the Giants. He put together an impressive rookie campaign after being drafted No. 6 overall, racking up 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns. Nabers also passed OBJ in the Giants' history books, setting a new rookie single-season reception record with 109. Russell Wilson Cites Shocking Reason for Joining NY Giants
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. This offseason, Russell Wilson opted to depart from the Pittsburgh Steelers and start a new chapter of his career. He finds himself on a new team yet again, this time being the New York Giants. Wilson inked a one-year deal with New York to provide some short-term stability at the quarterback position. This comes on the heels of a season where multiple players went under center after the franchise opted to end their experiment with former No. 6 pick Daniel Jones. In his new situation, Wilson will be a stopgap for the Giants while first-round pick Jaxson Dart develops behind the scenes. Though he isn't the elite QB he was with the Seattle Seahawks, Wilson is still good enough to be a starter in this league. That said, he was drawn to the Giants in free agency for one key reason. Wilson then stated that getting to play with wide receiver Malik Nabers was a big reason why he came to New York. "You know, I came here because of him," Wilson said of Nabers. Despite the disarray at the QB position, he still managed to put together an impressive rookie campaign. Appearing in 15 games, Nabers totaled 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns. He also etched his name in the Giants history books setting a new rookie single-season receptions record with 109. Even though they didn't get to be on the field together during minicamp because Nabers was dealing with a toe injury, he and Wilson seem to have a strong connection. With a former Super Bowl-winning quarterback throwing him passes now, the young wideout is in a position to take a big step forward in year two.
