Gardaí rush to seize 3D-printed guns made for the price of a box of cigarettes
GARDAÍ FEAR DRUG gangs in Ireland have made connections with a gun supplier who's providing criminals with lethal 'throw away' 3D-printed plastic guns, The Journal has learned. It comes after gardaí seized at least five of the guns, known as Harlot 22LR or Derringer break-action pistols, in recent days. It's believed the guns, which have a distinctive green colouring, were printed from a file that's downloadable online. The seizures happened in Dublin, Tipperary and in Shannon. The Shannon incident happened on Friday morning and it was part of a broader intelligence led operation targeting organised crime in the area. We have discovered a large number of websites, apparently hosted in the US, which permit a member of the public in Ireland to get the blueprints to enable a DIY version of the gun to be produced at home. The devices can only be constructed with 3D printers which cost between €300 to €2,000 for basic models. Gardaí are investigating the proliferation of these 3D-printed guns, however sources said that at this stage of their probe it's not year clear whether they're being produced abroad or being manufactured in Ireland. One of the websites advertising the print file for a gun similar to the ones seized in Ireland offers the plans for less than the price of a box of cigarettes in Ireland – less than $20 US. The website describes it as a 'throw away' gun. A stock image of a gun printing device. Shutterstock Shutterstock 3D-printed guns became more widely available in the mid-2010s, with Texas-based 'crypto-anarchist' Cody Wilson playing a central role by offering the digital schematics needed to make a weapon. Advertisement Europol have also issued warnings about Far Right extremists obtaining printed guns. Dissident Republican groups, such as Óglaigh na hÉireann (OnH), have been spotted at events wielding 9mm 3D printed FGC sub-machine (FCG stands for 'Fuck Gun Control'). It is understood Far Right groups in the UK have also been spotted with the same guns. Mark Wolf was jailed for 10 years in 2023 . Gardaí found child sexual abuse imagery on his phones and footage of a massacre of Muslim worshipers by a white supremacist in New Zealand. In 2022 a man, who is originally from the UK, was arrested by gardaí in possession of homemade guns in Dublin – he was a Far Right sympathiser, and was later jailed. Ghost guns The US has been gripped in an epidemic of so-called 'ghost guns' – which is a term that broadly describes firearms that are bought as incomplete frames and receivers. These components are being purchased across the US as they bypass US Law Enforcement. The 'ghost guns' are then turned into functional guns by assembling them with other parts that can be ordered separately. Brian Thompson, CEO of US health insurer UnitedHealthcare , was allegedly shot dead by Luigi Mangione using a ghost gun. Sources have said that ghost guns of this type have have not appeared in Ireland as yet. In the past illegal firearms were either stolen from legitimate owners such as farmers or were shipped into Ireland in drug shipments or attained from stocks of weapons formerly held by the IRA. A statement has been requested from An Garda Síochána. Readers like you are keeping these stories free for everyone... PARTLY FACETIOUS: ‘The US attacks on nuclear sites in Iran, have we condemned it?'
'The Man Who Must Remain Nameless and Faceless got it wrong.' 'You have to narrow it down – he has got many things wrong.' 'Except that he has emerged as the most popular leader in the country today.' 'Indeed, but in France the most popular leader is the Far Right leader Marine Le Pen, in Germany it is Alice Weidel, another Far Right leader and…' 'And one is barred from elections for five years, and in Germany Weidel's party has been labelled as Extreme Right by German Intelligence, intelligence that is under the control of the ruling coalition…' 'So much for democracy based on popularity! But what did The Man Who Must Remain Nameless and Faceless get wrong?' 'He said he was ousted from power by the US and cited a cypher….wait, let me finish…. But look at the US history of how a regime change was effected – not by bombs and certainly not by cyphers but through boots on the ground. In Iraq and Libya and recently Syria US troops secured the regime change so bombing nuclear sites in Iran is not likely to change the regime if you will.' 'I heard that the plan is to splinter Iran – the Kurdish speakers to form an autonomous region like in Iraq or form greater Kurdistan, which would anger the Turks and need I add the Turks must know that after Iran the next target could be Turkey, some to go to Azerbaijan and…and…wait, Iranian Baluchistan to…' 'All I will say is that I have it on very good authority that during lunch the subject didn't come up.' 'OK so democracy must be redefined: the deep state retains control defined as taking all decisions that are important to it, the elected leadership can ignore the wishes of the public till the next elections and/or deal with the popular leaders and…' 'One question: the US attacks on nuclear sites in Iran, have we condemned it?' 'I think so, though I am not sure.' 'If so, have we withdrawn our recommendation for the Nobel Peace Prize?' 'Shut up, it's not as if the Nobel Committee is going to listen to our views?' 'No but…Shut up'. Copyright Business Recorder, 2025

Key move stopped social media liars from endangering peoples' safety last week
When I watched tv as a kid and a crime was reported on the news I'd tense - praying the suspect was not Black. Why? Because the negative stereotyping of Black people back then was the done thing. Anything reinforcing those labels crystallised the false fears that the xenophobes were hell-bent to pushing. We are back there now because of Reform and the Far Right who are determined to do the very same thing. We are there because a Labour Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer's repurposing of Enoch Powell's Rivers of Blood speech has helped to fuel it. We are back there now because of the systematic attempts of the extremists in plain sight, determined to frame everyone non-white as a danger to you and this country. The racists and xenophobes want to dress us all up as threats to be feared and fought against. So the speed with which the police revealed the details of a 53-year-old white man, charged after a car was driven through crowds at last week's Liverpool parade, is significant. They did it to get ahead of the liars and troublemakers on social media who would have poured the poison into the breach if, as in the past, the particulars of the suspect had been withheld. The police did it because they knew that without those important facts, the misinformation specialists would have sparked the kind of violence which saw Black and Brown people indiscriminately beaten in the streets after Southport last summer. It was falsely claimed last July that the three young girls killed had been attacked by an illegal immigrant. The lie was amplified millions of times on social media before it could be proven untrue. By then the damage had been done. It is a damning indictment on our society that releasing a person's ethnicity immediately will now have to remain a strategy for UK law enforcement going forward. But when high profile commentators and politicians remain determined to lie and misrepresent the truth as so many are doing on a day to day basis, police have no choice. Starmer revealed in January that the government would look to plug the information vacuum that allowed the blitz-stirrers to wind people up last summer. But it beggars belief too that there is only calm on our streets because the person held after last week's Liverpool horror - the facts of which have traumatised us all - is not Black. We've gone back to the future. We are back to the days when extremists in the seventies put out leaflets warning: 'if you desire a coloured for your neighbour vote Labour'. You wouldn't now suddenly think negatively of every 53-year-old white man but the racist agitators on social media want you to judge every Black or Brown person on the basis of what any single person is suspected of.

Ben Gvir says: "It's time to go in with full force" into Gaza
Far-right Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir said Friday that 'full force' should be used in Gaza after Hamas announced that the new U.S.-backed ceasefire proposal does not meet its demands. Addressing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a message on Telegram, Ben Gvir wrote: 'After Hamas once again rejected the proposed deal, there are no more excuses,' adding, 'The confusion, hesitation, and weakness must end. We've already missed too many opportunities. It's time to go in with full force, without hesitation, to destroy and eliminate Hamas down to the last member.' AFP

Far-right Israeli minister announces creation of 22 settlements in West Bank
Far-right Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich announced Thursday the creation in the occupied West Bank of 22 new settlements, which are considered illegal under international law. "We have made a historic decision for the development of settlements: 22 new communities in Judea and Samaria, renewing the settlement of the north of Samaria and reinforcing the eastern axis of the State of Israel," the minister said on X, using the Israeli term for the West Bank, which it has occupied since 1967.
