Kuwait Police Arrest Bangladeshi in Asian Expats Extortion Bust

KUWAIT CITY, July 2: In a significant move to clamp down on criminal activity, the Criminal Security Sector of Kuwait's Ministry of Interior has dismantled a gang that was extorting members of the Asian community in the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area of Farwaniya Governorate. According to an official statement, the Farwaniya Investigations Department uncovered the gang's illegal operations following complaints from expats and vendors. The group was reportedly demanding money from individuals — many of them street vendors and informal workers — in exchange for not harassing or harming them. The victims, largely from the Asian expatriate community, were targeted due to their vulnerable status and presence in unregulated market areas. Investigators were able to document the gang's activities with video evidence showing members of the group collecting money from vendors in real time. The footage confirmed that the gang was exploiting the lack of oversight in the area to run an organized extortion racket. Based on this evidence, law enforcement set a strategic ambush, which led to the arrest of one gang member, a Bangladeshi national, caught red-handed while attempting to extort money. Authorities stated that operations are ongoing to identify and arrest the remaining members of the group. The Ministry of Interior emphasized its zero-tolerance policy towards individuals or groups who threaten the peace and security of society. In its statement, the ministry urged the public to report any suspicious or similar criminal behavior through official communication channels, reiterating its commitment to protecting all communities in Kuwait.

Asian Expats Arrested In Kuwait For Illegal Trade And Theft

KUWAIT CITY, March 15: As part of its ongoing efforts to combat crime and apprehend lawbreakers, the Criminal Security Sector has conducted intensive campaigns through the General Department of Criminal Investigations in the Farwaniya and Jahra governorates, leading to multiple arrests. The Farwaniya Investigations Department (Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh Investigations) successfully arrested Asian expats involved in the illegal sale of subsidized food supplies. The suspect was also operating an unlicensed grocery store in the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area. Authorities found money obtained from these illegal activities in his possession. Meanwhile, the Jahra Governorate Investigations Department (Mutlaa Investigations) dismantled a gang specializing in stealing construction materials from houses under construction in the Mutlaa area. Through intensive search and investigation efforts, it was discovered that the suspects rented vehicles to monitor residential plots before stealing construction materials, selling them, and dividing the proceeds among themselves. All suspects and confiscated items have been handed over to the relevant authorities for legal action. The Ministry of Interior reaffirms its commitment to maintaining security and enforcing the law without leniency against those who violate it or encroach upon public and private property.
