Senior US consulate staffer killed in Mexico car crash

A senior American consulate staffer in Mexico was killed in a car crash Wednesday, according to a report. US Vice Consul in Monterrey Brian Matthew Faughan was mortally wounded in the rollover crash on the Torreón-Saltillo highway around 6:15 p.m., ABC News Mexico reported. Officials found Faughan's injuries to be too severe to transport him to a private hospital, the outlet reported. Advertisement He was pronounced dead at 7:16 p.m. — an hour after the crash. The State of Nuevo León's deputy and president of the state's congress offered condolences to Faughan's family following the tragedy. 'I deeply regret the passing of Brian Matthew Faughan, Vice Consul of the US Consulate in Monterrey. My condolences to his family, friends, and work team.
