Top Foxtrot member arrested in Erbil: Swedish media
Also in Kurdistan KRG approves 'understanding' with Baghdad on budget issues President Barzani, Estonian defense minister discuss defense ties, regional developments KRG cabinet to address financial crisis amid new round of meetings with Baghdad KRG ministry condemns drone strikes on Duhok oil fields as operations halt A+ A- ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Ahmed Alaa Fawzi, also known by his gang alias 'Dybala' and a key figure in Sweden's notorious Foxtrot Network, has been apprehended in Erbil, according to Sweden's national broadcaster SVT. SVT reported that Fawzi, 27, was arrested several weeks ago by local security forces in the Kurdistan Region, though news of his capture has only recently been made public. Rudaw English reached out to Erbil police, but they were not immediately available for a comment. Originally from Baghdad, Fawzi holds only Iraqi citizenship and was denied asylum in Sweden in 2015. Fawzi is internationally wanted by Swedish authorities for allegedly ordering the murder of a father of three in Skurup, a municipality in southern Sweden's Skane County. Interpol has also issued a Red Notice for his arrest on charges including murder, conspiracy to commit murder, aiding and abetting, and weapons offenses. Prominent Swedish daily Aftonbladet cited Fawzi's lawyer, Tobias Guldstrand, as noting that he knew of his client's apprehension 'only through the media. I have nothing further I can comment on beyond that at the moment.' Widely known by his gang name Dybala, Fawzi reportedly implicated in several investigations linked to contract killings in Sweden. He is believed to be a close associate of Rawa Majid - dubbed 'the Kurdish Fox' - who leads the Foxtrot Network. The Foxtrot Network, a dominant force in Sweden's criminal underworld since the late 2010s, is deeply involved in narcotics trafficking, shootings, bombings, and other violent crimes. In March, the United States sanctioned Majid over his alleged involvement in arms and drug trafficking and for reportedly cooperating with Iran in 'attacks on Israeli and Jewish targets in Europe.' Earlier this month, Turkish authorities arrested Ismail Abdo, another Swedish gang leader and former associate of Majid. Abdo, wanted for drug trafficking and violent crimes, was detained alongside 19 others as part of a joint investigation between Turkish and Swedish law enforcement. Sweden, once celebrated for its low crime rates and robust welfare system, has witnessed a sharp rise in gang-related violence over the past decade. A surge in shootings and bombings, largely fueled by rivalries between criminal networks competing for control of drug markets, has become a pressing national concern. The violence has been exacerbated by social segregation in so-called 'vulnerable areas,' where gangs increasingly recruit minors - who often face lighter penalties under Swedish law. This trend has shaken public confidence in institutions and prompted the government to push for tougher crime-fighting measures, including broader police powers and harsher sentencing.

DRB-HICOM Auto Solutions strengthens logistics capabilities with MAN TGS Prime Movers
DRB-HICOM Auto Solutions Sdn Bhd (DHAS), a subsidiary of DRB-HICOM Berhad and a key player in Malaysia's automotive logistics sector, has expanded its operational capacity with the addition of seven MAN TGS 18.360 4×2 prime movers. These new units will serve as the foundation of DHAS's in-house fleet of car carriers, marking a strategic shift from its prior reliance on third-party transport providers and a small group of leased Japanese prime movers. Founded in 2006, DHAS has grown in tandem with the country's rapidly evolving automotive landscape, particularly in response to the increasing production and importation of electric vehicles (EVs). The company now supports logistics operations for over 20 automotive brands in Malaysia, positioning itself as a preferred logistics provider within the industry. As demand rises, DHAS is scaling its operations to enhance reliability and maintain long-term business sustainability. Chief Executive Officer Fawzi Ahmad stated that the decision to adopt the Euro V-compliant MAN TGS trucks followed a comprehensive assessment across several key metrics. He explained that the model was chosen based on its strong performance in areas such as safety, vehicle specification, operational efficiency, pricing, aftersales support, and environmental considerations. He also highlighted the truck's user-friendly integrated telematics system, which supports efficient fleet management, and added that drivers have responded positively to the vehicle's modern design and spacious, comfortable cabin. Fawzi credited MAN Malaysia for ensuring the timely delivery of the trucks, noting the team's professional coordination with its appointed car carrier fabricator and relevant authorities. The successful rollout underlines DHAS's readiness to support increased transportation needs, particularly in a market where EV logistics are becoming more prominent. Andrew O'Brooks, Managing Director of MAN Truck & Bus (M) Sdn Bhd, expressed satisfaction with the partnership, saying the rapid deployment of the trucks exemplifies MAN's commitment to simplifying logistics operations for its clients. He noted that MAN's Euro V trucks were the first of their kind to be offered as standard in Malaysia and that the company has accumulated considerable real-world operational experience with these models since 2021. Their performance, he added, is proven in fuel efficiency, emissions reduction, and low total cost of ownership. Looking ahead, DHAS is exploring the potential integration of electric heavy-duty vehicles into its fleet. The company has shown particular interest in the MAN eTGX, which boasts a range of up to 800km, as part of its long-term strategy to embrace electrification and reduce operating costs. This latest fleet expansion signals DHAS's commitment to sustainable growth and enhanced service delivery, further solidifying its role in Malaysia's automotive logistics ecosystem.

DRB-HICOM unit adds seven new vehicle carrier prime movers to fleet
KUALA LUMPUR: DRB-Hicom Auto Solutions Sdn Bhd (DHAS) has expanded its vehicle delivery business with seven new vehicle carrier prime movers. The seven units of 10-litre MAN prime movers were recently delivered to DHAS, bringing the automotive logistics provider's total number of vehicle carriers to 10. It also has two motorcycle carriers as part of its fleet. Each vehicle carrier is able to transport up to seven sedan cars, or five units of four-wheel drive vehicles. With this addition, total carrying capacity will increase by more than 50 per cent. DHAS chief executive officer Fawzi Ahmad said the fleet expansion enables the company to shift focus from only inbound activities to more outbound delivery services to dealers' doorstep throughout the transportation cycle. "With the new carriers, DHAS reduces reliance on out-sourced providers. We are now better able to provide a wider range of in-house services, giving us better control in ensuring the best of service to our customers," he added. The expanded fleet, which had been deployed immediately, positions DHAS to serve the rapid growth of the Malaysian automotive market, particularly in respect to electric vehicles (EVs). Fawzi said the company continues to expand operations and meet the rising demand for vehicle transportation services. "These additional vehicle carriers also help us enhance cost management and improve our operational control. "These efficiency improvements ultimately benefit our customers in various ways," he said. He added that DHAS is currently focused on further strengthening market presence, while driving innovation within its operations. As part of its long-term strategy, the company continuously assesses future requirements, adapting operations to ensure sustainable growth and alignment with customer needs. As a subsidiary of DRB-HICOM Bhd, enhancements in DHAS' capabilities feed directly into the group's deep-rooted presence throughout the entire automotive industry ecosystem. This ranges from car manufacturing and assembly, vehicle importation and logistics, distribution and retailing, after-sales service, to second-hand sales as well as car rental and leasing services. DHAS, established in 2006, provides end-to-end automotive logistics with amongst the largest networks of comprehensive vehicle delivery services to dealerships nationwide. It operates from well-equipped vehicle yards in Port Klang Free Zone in Port Klang, and Pekan, Pahang, with capacities of 3,800 units and 6,000 units respectively. In addition to nationwide vehicle distribution, DHAS offers a full suite of logistics services. This includes the importation of completely built-up vehicles and completely knocked-down kits, forwarding and customs clearance, warehouse management and pre-delivery inspection activities.

East Baghdad field to start producing oil and gas in 2026
Baghdad ( – The Head of Operations for the Southern Region in Iraq's Midland Oil Company (MOC), Firas Fawzi, revealed on Tuesday that the East Baghdad field will start producing gas in September 2026. In a statement to Shafaq News, Fawzi elaborated that the East Baghdad field's oil production is expected to reach 120,000 barrels per day by June 2026, suggesting that the gas production phase will begin afterwards. Gas production in the East Baghdad field is anticipated to begin in September 2026, with an expected output ranging between 25 and 50 million cubic feet per day, according to Fawzi. As part of a plan to drill 18 oil wells in the southern part of the East Baghdad field, the state-owned Iraqi Drilling Company (IDC) announced in February that drilling had begun in the first well. The Iraqi Ministry of Oil said in a statement that the step is part of the ministry's strategic goals and collaborative efforts with the Chinese company EBS to support and develop the country's oil sector. An enormous discovery just raised the reserves of the East Baghdad field, one of Iraq's most significant oil resources, to 15 billion barrels. This discovery enhances Iraq's position as one of the world's top oil producers and creates new avenues for output expansion and revenue generation. In collaboration with the Chinese oil company EBS, Iraq's Midland Oil Company (MOD) said in January that two billion more barrels had been found in the oil field. Given that this discovery represents the largest expansion in central Iraq's crude oil reserves in decades, the energy industry is paying close attention to it. Several studies are being done to develop strategies to maximize productivity and use this important resource. This finding raises the overall reserves of the East Baghdad field to 15 billion barrels, up from 13 billion barrels before the latest discovery, according to Mohammed Yassin Hassan, director general of the state-run MOC. The discovery is a major step that supports the Iraqi oil sector and increases national income since the oil field is considered the largest in central Iraq.

East Baghdad Field taps AI, eyes 120K bpd target
Shafaq News/ The East Baghdad oil field is projected to reach a production capacity of 120,000 barrels per day (bpd) by mid-2026, an official in Midland Oil Company (MdOC) told Shafaq News on Tuesday. The Head of Operations for the Southern Region, Firas Fawzi, revealed that the company approved the use of advanced technologies in the field, including artificial intelligence systems to optimize output and provide early alerts to operational issues. Production at the East Baghdad field, located in the Nahrawan area, reportedly began at just 1,500 barrels per day when it was handed over to the Chinese company EPS in 2018. 'Since then, output has steadily increased, reaching 60,000 bpd today, with projections to rise to 90,000 by September 2025 and 120,000 by June 2026,' he noted. Fawzi further pointed out that of the current output, approximately 25,000 barrels per day are supplied to the Dora refinery, while the remainder is directed to power stations, including the Wasit and Al-Quds thermal plants. 95 wells have been discovered at the East Baghdad field, with 58 of them currently in production.
