Spacetoon Group enters Turkey with Spacetoon Türkiye launch
Spacetoon Türkiye will be spearheaded by Kemal Coşkuner, former General Manager of Disney Channel Türkiye.
Spacetoon Group has announced its official entry into the Turkish market with the launch of Spacetoon Türkiye, a free-to-air children's television channel, and the streaming platform Spacetoon Go Türkiye. This expansion is supported by the creation of a dedicated Licensing & Merchandising department to strengthen the brand's regional foothold.
Spacetoon Türkiye offers a broad range of fully Turkish-dubbed programming across genres intended to spark children's creativity and imagination. The channel introduces a modern, space-themed identity divided into nine distinctive 'planets,' each focused on a specific genre and catering to viewers of different age groups, from preschoolers to young adults.
The channel's extensive programming schedule includes beloved titles such as The Smurfs, Bluey, The Adventures of Paddington, Kid Lucky, Strawberry Shortcake: Berry in the Big City and 44 Cats, alongside top-rated anime titles like Naruto, Doraemon, Bey Blade X, Cocotama, Inazuma Eleven, and many more.
Viewers across Türkiye can access Spacetoon Türkiye on Türksat 4A at a frequency of 12379, as well as through Digiturk, Dsmart, Tivibu, TV+, S Sport+ and KabloTV.
Speaking about the expansion, Fayez Al-Sabbagh, CEO of Spacetoon Group, said: 'The launch of Spacetoon Türkiye marks a significant step in our expansion strategy within the Turkish market.'
He added: 'Our primary focus remains on our audience – children and families. We aim to deliver an unparalleled viewing experience through captivating programming, creative songs, and engaging TV fillers. Our mission is to grow together, inspiring, educating, and entertaining our audience.'
Leading Spacetoon Türkiye is Kemal Coşkuner, former General Manager of Disney Channel Türkiye, who brings over 25 years of experience across leading broadcasters such as Disney, FOX, CNN and Kanal D. His appointment is aimed at driving Spacetoon's vision in this new market.
Beyond linear broadcasting, Spacetoon Go Türkiye will offer audiences on-demand access to the channel's lineup along with exclusive Turkish-dubbed content, providing flexibility for families to watch whenever they choose.
The company is also laying the groundwork for expansion in licensing and merchandising. Spacetoon has secured Turkish rights to popular intellectual properties including Naruto, Beyblade X, Cocotama and Inazuma, with plans to roll out a wide range of toys and licensed products. This division is headed by Gül Disma, an industry veteran with more than two decades of experience at companies like Hasbro and Disney.
Kamel Weiss, International Business Development Director of Spacetoon Group, stated: 'Expanding into Türkiye is a key step in Spacetoon's global journey. With Spacetoon Türkiye, we're bringing a trusted brand and a model that blends content, L&M, events, and toys. I'm especially happy to be working alongside Kemal and Gul – two experienced leaders who share our vision – as we grow our presence and explore new markets.'
Spacetoon, now operating five offices across multiple regions – including Istanbul – has recently expanded its business portfolio, securing partnerships with global and regional leaders in entertainment, media, education, and production, with plans to expand into new markets in the next few years.
