‘Did Not Use Single Gaali In Season 2': Ali Fazal On Playing Guddu In Mirzapur

For Ali Fazal, it was a significant challenge, as his role required a transformation unlike anything he had done before. Ali Fazal has come a long way in his acting career. From theatre stages in Dehradun to Bollywood hits and international milestones, the actor's journey is a testament to versatility, talent, and grit. With every role, Fazal brings depth and presence to the characters as well as continues to push creative boundaries. During an interview with Bollywood Bubbles, the dynamic actor shared his experiences on shooting Mirzapur and opened up about his famous role, Guddu Bhaiya. Talking about his portrayal of Guddu Bhaiya in Mirzapur, Fazal revealed it was a significant challenge, as his role required a transformation unlike anything he had done before. 'It was very different from who I am, from what we've grown up seeing. So, I did some study and tried to understand the people and their environment," the actor revealed. The actor credited Mirzapur's writer and director, Puneet Krishna, with helping him prepare for the role. Fazal further revealed that he used to take notes on little linguistic nuances, as the region has its different way of speaking. When questioned about how difficult or easy it was for him to use abusive language, the actor clarified, 'To be honest, more than me, the other characters were the ones who were using gaalis. In fact, in season 2, I didn't use a single gaali because season 1 had enough of that." When he was asked if delivering such lines came naturally to him, Fazal replied, 'Nahi aajati hai. Abh, mahaul hi aisa hai…Itna Kehna Kaafi hai." Talking about his most memorable moment on set, Fazal revealed the very first day of the shooting would be his most cherished memory. Fazal explained they were shooting a classroom scene when he felt intense pressure and nervousness despite all the preparations, and to overcome this fear and appear more intimidating, the actor unconsciously changed his walk and posture. 'That posture, that vibe – it all came from that one moment," the actor recalled. Additionally, Fazal reflected on the global popularity of Guddu Bhaiya and said, 'It feels nice, I mean that you've reached people." The actor further showed gratitude to Indian audiences as well as fans at the global base for showing this much love and adoration for his character in Mirzapur. First Published:

'Mirzapur' Season 4 series release and cast: Ali Fazal, aka Guddu Bhaiyya, shares a big update. Will it be the last?

Brace yourselves, 'Mirzapur' aficionados, the fourth season of the iconic TV series may be its last. In an interview with Hindi Rush, actor Ali Fazal, who stars as the evergreen Govind Pandit, aka Guddu Bhaiyya, hinted that the series may come to an end after the fourth season. However, he also promised fans that there is a 'big surprise' awaiting them in Season 4. Excitement Builds Around The Final Season Ali Fazal shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming season, revealing that the original ensemble cast will be returning. Just a week prior to the interview, he had listened to the season's script, and his reaction was full of anticipation. He promised viewers a season that would not only retain the show's hallmark intensity but also bring a surprising new angle. Unlike some popular international shows that transition into feature films, Ali clarified that Mirzapur will take a distinct path forward rather than merely replicate that trend. Drawing a comparison, he referenced Peaky Blinders, another acclaimed series that opted for a film continuation. While Peaky Blinders embraced cinema for its next chapter, Fazal hinted that Mirzapur is opting for a unique route, although he remained tight-lipped about what exactly that would entail. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 23.7% Returns in last 5 years with Shriram Life's ULIP Shriram Life Insurance Undo Cast Lineup and Production Updates Remain Under Wraps When pressed about the lineup for the future project—especially whether it would feature a movie adaptation—Ali refrained from disclosing any names. He mentioned that the creators would soon share official details regarding the cast. Although the third season aired in 2024 and the fourth is in development, Fazal indicated that the writing process for this potentially final chapter is still underway. "That (the new season) is still being written because… I don't know… It will probably be the last season," he told Hindi Rush. In terms of future prospects, a standalone Mirzapur film has been announced, with a tentative release expected in 2026. Yet, it remains unclear whether characters who met their end in the series will reappear in this new format. Alongside Fazal, the show has boasted an ensemble cast featuring Vikrant Massey, Shweta Tripathi, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Divyenndu, and Rasika Dugal. All have played pivotal roles in shaping the show's legacy. A Brief Journey Through the World of Mirzapur Mirzapur is a hard-hitting Indian crime thriller series produced for Amazon Prime Video. Created by Karan Anshuman, with writing contributions from Puneet and Vineet Krishna, the series first debuted on November 16, 2018. The initial season was helmed by directors Anshuman, Mihir Desai, and Aditya Mohanty. The second season was led by Desai. The show is produced under the banner of Excel Entertainment, owned by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar. The plot revolves around Akhandanand Tripathi, better known as Kaleen Bhaiyya, a feared crime lord and businessman who controls the Mirzapur district in Uttar Pradesh's Purvanchal region. With raw violence, political maneuvering, and familial drama at its core, the show became a sensation across India. Although critics had varied opinions about the narrative structure, the audience reception was overwhelmingly positive. The performances, especially by Pankaj Tripathi and Ali Fazal, earned widespread acclaim. Eventually, Mirzapur surpassed other hits like Sacred Games to become one of the most-watched streaming series in India.

Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan saw me freaking out on day 1 of Metro In Dino, recalls Ali Fazal: ‘The film is inside Anurag Basu's head, no one knows what's happening'

Anurag Basu is all set to return with the follow up to his 2007 romance anthology Life… in a Metro, Metro In Dino, slated to release in cinemas on July 4. It consists of almost an entirely new cast, including Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, and Ali Fazal. Fazal recently revealed he initially struggled with Basu's style of filmmaking. 'Basu sir has a very interesting way. The whole film is inside his head. So nobody knows what's happening. And that's another exhilarating experience because you don't know what's coming,' said Fazal, adding, 'I remember Adi (Kapur), Sara and all these guy are on set the first day, and they can see me freaking out! Kya karein, scene nahi hai (What to do, there's no scene paper). But that's how he works.' In the interview with Galatta Plus, Fazal explained further, 'The scene paper comes in very last minute. Of course, there's a whole script, and he's got the whole thing down.' But he also pointed out that nobody could access the full script because Basu's approach to Metro In Dino is quite different from its first part. 'This particular construction of Metro is pretty different. And I think for that very reason, he didn't want us to read the script. It really helped! When the film is out, I'd love to talk about it. It's surprising that even in a very light, romantic film, he's managed to bring his swing. And I enjoy that,' added Fazal. He claimed that collaborating with Basu can be both unsettling and rewarding. 'He pushes you! He'll throw in a word or an emotion, and just give me a little different perspective. Most times, when he gets it, he doesn't. That's another problem directors don't realize — Mani (Ratnam) sir, Basu, they are lovely directors, but actors love it when the director goes, 'Good!' But there's nothing. He just says, 'Next shot,'' said Fazal. Fazal will be next seen in his debut Tamil film, Mani Ratnam's crime thriller Thug Life, in which he stars alongside Kamal Haasan, Simbu, Trisha, and Nasser among others. The film is slated to release in cinemas next Thursday on June 5. Going back to Metro In Dino, Fazal revealed it's a musical so Basu works around that. For me, that's like nectar because then I can map everything. We don't use beats or rhythm much. That's the way I learnt. I never got to learn acting. Hence, Adishakti. It's the one place where I managed to learn anything. Which is why I keep going back there,' said Fazal, referring to Adishakti Theatre Arts, a laboratory for theatre art research based in Tamil Nadu.
