Kerry Katona says she's 'failing' as a single mum - 'I've never done enough'
Kerry Katona has admitted she feels like she's constantly 'failing' as a single mum of five (Image: kerrykatona7/Instagram) Kerry Katona has opened up about her struggles as a mum, admitting that she constantly feels as though she's 'failing' to raise her brood. The former singer is a mum to Molly, 23, and Lilly-Sue, 22, who she shares with first husband Brian McFadden, Heidi, 18, and Max, 17, whose father is her ex Mark Croft and youngest daughter, DJ, ten, who she welcomed with late spouse George Kay. Writing in her weekly New! Magazine column, Kerry sent her support to Fearne Cotton, who recently opened up about feeling 'overwhelmed' as a single mum since splitting from her husband Jesse Wood. Comparing her own experience with parenthood, Kerry wrote: "I saw Fearne Cotton open up recently about how she feels 'overwhelmed' as a single mum at times. "Truth is, us mums all feel like that sometimes. Being a single mum is the hardest thing I've done in my life, and you can feel like you're failing every day." Kerry, who is a mum to four daughters and one son, says it's the 'hardest job she's ever done' (Image: INSTAGRAM) Kerry continued: "You never feel like you've done enough, especially with multiple children who have different needs. But, if your kids have a roof over their heads and food to eat, they're absolutely fine. We need to go easier on ourselves. Fearne is doing a fantastic job and needs to remember that." The comments come after Fearne admitted she felt she was "dropping a lot of balls" as a single mum while recently appearing on Women's Health magazine's new podcast, Just As Well. "I had nothing the kids liked for breakfast on Monday, nothing. I had cereal, but no milk. I had butter, but no bread. I tried to make pancakes, I had no maple syrup. It is like an absolute s**t show," Fearne began. She continued, "So I'm just dropping lots of balls constantly and never feeling like I'm doing anything particularly well. But enjoying most of it. I would say enjoying most of it." Fearne added that parenthood also has her "crying in her car" at times. Fearne Cotton left crying in her car over single parent struggles after brutal split
Fearne Cotton has revealed that the strains of single parenting has left her crying in her car at times as she moves on from her marriage to Jesse Wood Fearne Cotton has candidly confessed to how life as a single mother has affected her. The TV presenter, 43, revealed she has been left in tears in her car at times following her split from Jesse Wood. The couple tied the knot in 2014 before calling it quits in December last year, sharing a heartfelt statement on Twitter /X. Now, in an honest interview, Fearne has admitted to feeling the pressure of trying to raise he kids while juggling her media career. Speaking to the Jesse Wood magazine's new podcast, Just As Well, she revealed she felt as though she was "dropping a lot of balls" and struggling to do anything "particularly well". She added: "I had nothing the kids liked for breakfast on Monday, nothing. I had cereal, but no milk. I had butter, but no bread. I tried to make pancakes, I had no maple syrup. It is like an absolute s**t show. "So I'm just dropping lots of balls constantly and never feeling like I'm doing anything particularly well. But enjoying most of it. I would say enjoying most of it." And Fearne admitted she would "probably have a slight tantrum" when things began to spiral. "Sometimes I have a cry in my car, call one of my best mates and go 'Are you having a s**t show too? Yeah. Okay, phew….it's not just me." "It's the absolute pits," she said od social media. "And I think you do have to learn to just see it as a thought in someone's head that has now gone and they decided to write it down for whatever reason and it's nothing more than that. "But in the moment, it can feel, especially if you're not in a good head space, which back when I was doing Radio 1 I wasn't, but I was still receiving a lot of that and it took me under…I was very close to questioning everything in my life at that point." Now, as well as her podcast and family life, Fearne's focus is on her wellness business. As well as he podcast, Fearne has produced a number of self-help books. Fearne Cotton's ex Jesse Wood goes public with Made in Chelsea star girlfriend
Fearne Cotton's ex-husband, Jesse Wood, is showing off his new relationship after splitting from the TV host. Jesse, whose father is Rolling Stones legend Ronnie Wood, was married to Fearne, 43, from 2014 to 2024. They share a son, Rex, and a daughter, Honey. Fans were stunned when Fearne confirmed their separation last December, as she wrote on Instagram at the time: 'It is with a heavy heart that I let you all know that Jesse and I are ending our marriage. 'Our priority has been and always will be our children,' she added. 'We please ask that you respect the privacy of our family at this time.' Now, seven months on, Jesse is loved up again, as he's dating Made in Chelsea star Gemma Gregory. Jesse, 48, and Gemma, 39, went public with their romance this weekend, attending the VIP screening of Twiggy at The Cinema at Selfridges, hosted by director Sadie Frost. It marked their first joint red carpet appearance, with Jesse wearing a casual band tee while girlfriend Gemma opted for a stylish maxi dress with revealing side cut-outs. They happily posed for snaps at the event, making no secret of the fact that they were together. It comes after the Daily Mail reported in March that Jesse had been getting to know Gemma, who found fame at 13 after appearing in a BBC adaptation of Great Expectations, for a while. A close friend told the outlet: 'They seem very happy and in love. They have been together [for] some time, and people around them know about their relationship. 'Gemma is a lovely woman who has been through some difficult times over the years. She deserves some happiness.' The TV star joined Made in Chelsea in 2012. She gave birth to her son, Benji, in 2014. Gemma, the daughter of actor Paul Gregory, has previously been romantically linked to Nicholas Knatchbull, son and heir of Earl Mountbatten, and England polo captain Henry Brett. As for her new blossoming romance with Jesse, who also has two other children from his previous marriage before Fearne, she recently debuted it online. Taking to Instagram, she posted a series of cosy snaps from their days out, one of which had the caption: 'Bloody love this one'. This came just weeks after Fearne was photographed kissing her new boyfriend, TV director Elliot Hegarty. According to The Sun, she started seeing him in January, having met through their mutual friend Gok Wan. 'Fearne and Elliot have known each other for a while. When their marriages ended, their friendship developed into romance,' said an insider. However, things got rocky when the paparazzi pics of the new couple kissing allegedly blindsided Elliot's wife. A family friend revealed to MailOnline: 'Laura is totally shocked and devastated because she only knew about Elliot being with Fearne when she saw the pictures all over the media. Imagine finding out that your husband's moved on so quickly like that?' Appearing on ITV's Lorraine earlier this year, the Happy Place founder divulged more details about the demise of her marriage and how she was feeling. She began in her first TV interview post-split: 'It's all very amicable, and the kids are doing great. I am in a very good place.' More Trending At the same time, Fearne also assured viewers that she was 'completely recovered' after undergoing surgery to remove two benign tumours from her jaw. 'I feel really good. I have a lot of people reaching out who have had the same thing,' she added. Stressing that she's doing well, the former Celebrity Juice star later told Scott Mills on his BBC Radio 2 show that she was 'really happy' and had been 'springing out of bed in the morning, ready for life'. Scott, who has been pals with Fearne for 25 years, even said he had never seen her 'more positive or happier'. Got a story?
