Waukegan man eludes Lake County police agencies before crash

A suspect in a stolen car led police on a chase through Lake County Wednesday before crashing into another vehicle in Waukegan, according to police. The Lake County Sheriff's Office said Felix Guadarrama, 31, of the 100 block of Drew Lane, Waukegan, had been seen driving a stolen vehicle in Mundelein on Wednesday and reportedly was armed with a handgun. The vehicle reportedly fled several times during the day from police agencies before it was later abandoned and located in Lake Forest, police said. At around 5:35 p.m., a sheriff's deputy saw Guadarrama driving a GMC Envoy at the intersection of Milwaukee Avenue and Grand Avenue in Gurnee. The officer attempted to make a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled. The Envoy sideswiped two vehicles near the Grand Avenue and Dilley's Road intersection, and at some point, lost its left front tire. The chase ended after about 20 minutes when the Envoy crashed into a Toyota Camry in Waukegan at the corner of Glen Flora Road and Lewis Avenue. Police said Guadarrama and a passenger tried to run away, but were captured by police. Guadarrama was tasered when he resisted arrest, police said. The passenger, Brianna Koch, 22, of Lake Villa, was charged after police said they found methamphetamine and cocaine in her possession. Guadarrama was charged with aggravated fleeing to elude and numerous traffic counts. He could face additional charges, police said. The Toyota driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
