The reason a woman takes her senior dog for a drive every day has melted hearts across the internet.
Abby Ferullo (@styledaf), 22, from New England, shared that she takes her elderly dog, Lucy, a chocolate Labrador retriever, for a car ride every day "just so she has a good day." The post, which shows her sweet ritual with Lucy, has garnered more than 388,000 likes and over 1.1 million views on TikTok.
"Do you wanna go for a car ride?" Ferullo asks in the video, as Lucy gazes up at her with soft eyes. Once the question is asked, the dog perks up and barks in excitement while Ferullo straps her into her harness for the journey ahead.
The Labrador is then gently lifted into the passenger seat, where she sits contentedly, staring out the window with quiet joy. "And yes … she gets front seat," Ferullo captioned the video.
Lucy is a senior chocolate Labrador—a breed known for its affectionate, intelligent, and eager-to-please nature. The American Kennel Club says Labradors are among the most popular dog breeds in the U.S., cherished for their friendly temperament and loyalty.
As dogs age, they require extra care and attention. PetMD notes that senior dogs benefit from consistent routines, gentle exercise, and enriching activities to keep them physically and mentally stimulated. For many aging pets, car rides can be a soothing and enjoyable outing.
Sidewalk Dog, a publication dedicated to canine-friendly living, describes car rides as "magic" for pups. The sights, smells, and time spent with their humans can be deeply fulfilling. For senior dogs especially, short drives can offer stimulation without overexertion, helping to maintain cognitive health and lift their spirits.

TikTok users were quick to fall in love with Lucy and Ferullo's heartwarming tradition.
"Not to be dramatic, but I'd give her my car," wrote Sarah.
"She also looks like she deserves a pup cup," commented M.
"I would die for her," said Molly Rose.
"The excited chatters," one user simply noted, referencing Lucy's happy vocalizations before the ride.
"My senior dog 15 I take him on a 'walk' everyday to the mailbox just so he gets excited for his leash to be put on," said Taylor.
