Caitlin Clark misses game vs Sparks: How serious is her new injury

The Indiana Fever suffered a hard defeat on Sunday with Caitlin Clark sidelined. Indiana Fever fell 85-75 to the Sparks, missing Caitlin Clark due to a groin injury. (AP Photo/Lindsey Wasson)(AP) Clark missed the game with a groin injury she picked up in the win over the Seattle Storm two nights earlier. It came as a big disappointment to the Fever, who were on a roll and were looking forward to sustaining their success. However, the absence of their offensive engine was just too much, as the Los Angeles Sparks outscored the Indiana 35 to 17 in the fourth quarter to win their game. The Fever announced Clark's injury on Thursday morning, confirming she would miss the game against Los Angeles. Head coach Stephanie White added that Clark is considered 'day-to-day' as she recovers from her second injury this season. With the Fever leading by eight and only 12 seconds on the clock, Clark fell to the court while trying to get free from a defender. That fall may now sideline her for more than just one game. The former Iowa star had already missed five games earlier in the year with a calf injury and had only recently found her rhythm again. She caught fire from deep, hitting 11 of her first 20 three-point attempts. But over her last three games, she's struggled, shooting just 1-for-23 from beyond the arc and 13-for-47 (27.7%) overall from the floor. The Indiana star notched assist totals of nine, 10, and nine in that same span. 'She'll be fine,' said teammate Lexie Hull, speaking to the Indy Star after the game. 'We're not worried about it. She's a great shooter, she's a great player. This happens to every player, every great player. She'll be fine.' Notably, Clark had never missed time due to injury until her rookie WNBA season.

Paige Bueckers Sends Strong Message on Caitlin Clark Before Fever Game

Paige Bueckers Sends Strong Message on Caitlin Clark Before Fever Game originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Paige Bueckers entered the WNBA with high expectations after an incredible career with the UConn Huskies at the collegiate level. Advertisement Bueckers has certainly felt pressure in her first season with the Dallas Wings just like last year's No. 1 overall pick, Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever. Clark was one of the most highly anticipated rookies in WNBA history and wound up living up to the potential, winning Rookie of the Year and being named a WNBA All-Star in her first year in the league. It's Bueckers' time to put on a show for fans. The Wings guard recently spoke on the pressure of being a young athlete in the social media world, where immediate success is expected. Bueckers mentioned that Clark has dealt with pressure with grace. Advertisement "I would just say, she handles it with grace and the pressure that she's put on every single night to perform at the level that she does, it's inhumane really, to expect people to be perfect and to not have off games or off nights,' Bueckers said. "It's unfair to have to deal with that but I'm sure she has a great team around her and great people to help her. I know she's a great person at dealing with it." Caitlin Clark became a star in the women's basketball landscape during her time with the Iowa Hawkeyes. She finished her four-year collegiate career as the men's and women's all-time leading scorer with 3,951 points. Now she's looking to lead the Indiana Fever to postseason success, having already established herself as one of the best guards in the WNBA. Calls Mount for Chicago Sky to Make Change Before Indiana Fever Game originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Chicago Sky earned a 2-4 record in the first month of the 2025 WNBA season. They started off on a four-game losing streak under new head coach Tyler Marsh, but have since rebounded with two consecutive victories. Advertisement 2024 WNBA All-Star forward Angel Reese is putting together a strong sophomore campaign, averaging 10.0 points and a league-leading 12.3 rebounds per game. She also has three double-doubles already this season through just six contests. With just days until the Sky's rematch against the Fever, fans are calling for Westbeld to be inserted into the lineup after seeing this footage. Chicago Sky forward Maddy Westbeld (21).MICHAEL CLUBB/SOUTH BEND TRIBUNE / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images "She needs some minutes when we play CT or something," a fan replied. "Play Maddy," another fan responded. "I'm tired of seeing her not get minutes." The Sky are in the midst of a seven-day break, as they have not competed since their 94 to 83 victory on the road against the Dallas Wings last Saturday. They will be back in action to begin their slate of Commissioner's Cup games this Saturday against the Fever. Advertisement Tipoff is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. EST at Wintrust Arena in Chicago.
