Yukta Mookhey Takes Subtle Dig At Junior Priyanka Chopra, Says Appreciates Nothing About Her

New Delhi: Miss World 1999 titleholder Yukta Mookhey, who won the crown just a year before Priyanka Chopra, recently opened up about her 'junior' in an interview with Filmymantra Media. She reflected on Priyanka's pageant journey, noting that the global icon once sought her advice. 'She was the one taking advice from me,' Yukta said. 'She competed the year after me. I personally feel that I guided her in some ways, and even her parents were interested in speaking with mine.' When asked what she admired about Priyanka, Yukta replied bluntly: 'Nothing. Because she is junior to me.' She elaborated further: 'No. Because she is junior to me. She was the one taking advice from me. She was in the following year after me. I personally feel there were things I guided her on, and her parents were sort of wanting to talk to my parents. I don't think she is the right person for you to ask me about at this moment.' Yukta also spoke about how Priyanka might have seen her as competition, contrasting that with her own experience. She recalled, 'I remember Juhi Chawla spoke to me after I won and returned. She was very kind and said, 'You are so beautiful and so tall, you carry yourself so well. Think about going international.' Those are the kind of people I admire—those who don't see you as competition or a threat but as someone they might guide. That takes greatness.' She added, 'Sirf Miss India ya Miss World title milne se cheezen nahi hoti.' (Just winning the title of Miss India or Miss World doesn't make everything happen.) While both Yukta and Priyanka won Miss World titles, their career paths have been vastly different. Yukta acted in films like Pyaasa, Katputtli, and Memsahab but struggled to establish herself in the entertainment industry. Priyanka, on the other hand, rose to fame in Bollywood with acclaimed performances in Fashion, Barfi!, Don, and Bajirao Mastani, and has since gained global recognition. On the work front, Priyanka Chopra will next be seen in Heads of State, an action-comedy alongside John Cena and Idris Elba. She plays MI6 agent Noel Bisset. The film is set to release on Prime Video on July 2.

Former Miss World Yukta Mookhey Takes Subtle Dig At Priyanka Chopra: 'She Is Junior To Me'

Last Updated: Yukta Mookhey, who won Miss World in 1999, recently claimed that former Miss World Priyanka Chopra once sought her advice before winning the crown. In a candid conversation with Filmymantra Media, Miss World 1999 Yukta Mookhey reflected on the early days of Priyanka Chopra's pageant journey, revealing that the future global icon once turned to her for guidance. 'She was the one taking advice from me," Yukta stated, referring to Priyanka, who won the Miss World crown in 2000 — just a year after Yukta brought the title home. 'She was in the following year after me. I personally feel that there were things I guided her for, and her parents were sort of wanting to talk to my parents." When asked to name a quality she admires in Priyanka, Yukta offered a surprising reply: 'Nothing. Because she is junior to me." Yukta also spoke about the nature of mentorship and how some individuals treat newcomers. Drawing a contrast, she recalled a warm gesture from Juhi Chawla: 'She spoke to me very kindly. She said you are so beautiful and so tall, you carry yourself so well, think about going international… Those are the kind of people who don't look at you as competition or a threat." She continued, 'Just winning the title of Miss India or Miss World doesn't make everything happen. It requires greatness to guide someone selflessly." Though both won the coveted Miss World title, their professional paths diverged significantly. Yukta's foray into acting included appearances in films like Pyaasa, Katputtli, and Memsahab, but she struggled to cement a foothold in the film industry. Priyanka, meanwhile, rose swiftly in Bollywood with acclaimed performances in Fashion, Barfi!, Don, and Bajirao Mastani, before expanding her career globally. Today, she wears many hats — actor, producer, and entrepreneur — with successful ventures in both Hollywood and the business world. She will next be seen in Heads of State, an action-comedy alongside John Cena and Idris Elba, where she plays MI6 agent Noel Bisset. The film is set to release on Prime Video on July 2. Yukta Mookhey says there's nothing to appreciate about ‘junior' Priyanka Chopra: ‘Sirf Miss World title milne se…'

Yukta Mookhey won the Miss World title in 1999, and just a year later, Priyanka Chopra brought the crown back to India again. It was a rare opportunity for India to win the title for the second consecutive year. In a recent interview with Filmymantra Media, Yukta spoke about how her 'junior' Priyanka sought her advice while preparing for the pageant. Yukta Mookhey reveals there's nothing to appreciate about Priyanka Chopra. When asked about any trait of Priyanka that she appreciates, Yukta said, "nothing". She added, "No. Because she is junior to me. She was the one taking advice from me. Because she was in the following year after me. I personally feel that there were things that I guided her for, and her parents were sort of wanting to talk to my parents. I don't think she is the right person for you to ask me at this moment." She hinted that Priyanka saw her as competition and said, "I remember Juhi Chawla spoke to me after I won and came back and she spoke to me very kindly. She said you are so beautiful and so tall, you carry yourself so well, think about going international. So those are the kind of people I am talking about, who don't look at you as competition. They don't look at you as a threat. They look at you as someone who is a junior, or like 'I might be able to teach them something', and that requires a lot of greatness. Sirf Miss India ya Miss World title milne se cheezen nahi hoti (Just winning the title of Miss India or Miss World doesn't make everything happen)." Priyanka Chopra and Yukta Mookhey's film career While both of them won Miss World title, their career graph took dramatically different turns. Yukta struggled to establish a lasting career in the entertainment industry. She appeared in a handful of films such as Pyaasa, Katputtli, and Memsahab, but none achieved commercial or critical success. In contrast, Priyanka transitioned seamlessly into films and quickly rose to stardom in Bollywood. With acclaimed performances in movies like Fashion, Barfi!, and Bajirao Mastani, she became one of the most successful and versatile actors in Indian cinema. Eventually, she crossed over to Hollywood with projects like Quantico, Baywatch and The White Tiger, and has established herself as a global star, producer, and entrepreneur. She is now awaiting the release of her upcoming film Heads of State, which also stars John Cena and Idris Elba. The actor plays the role of MI6 agent Noel Bisset in the film, which is scheduled to premiere on Prime Video on July 2.

‘Nothing' to appreciate about Priyanka Chopra: Former Miss World implies PC saw her as ‘threat, competition'

Priyanka Chopra won Miss World in the year 2000 but just one year before that, Yukta Mookhey had been the winner of Miss World. This was a rare opportunity for India to win the title for the second consecutive year and in a recent interview, when Yukta was asked about Priyanka, the former actor said that Priyanka sought her advice when she was preparing for the international pageant. When asked if there was any trait about PC that she appreciated, Yukta blunty said, 'Nothing.' Yukta was in conversation with the YouTube channel Filmymantra Media, when she was asked the aforementioned question and as the interviewer expressed her shock at Yukta's 'nothing', she reiterated, 'No (smiles). Because she is junior to me. She was the one taking advice from me. Because she was in the following year after me.' She added, 'I personally feel that there were things that I guided her for, and her parents were sort of wanting to talk to my parents. I don't think she is the right person for you to ask me at this moment.' But immediately afterwards, Yukta spoke about Juhi Chawla, who won Miss India in 1984 and represented India at the international pageant, and said that Juhi was extremely kind to her and did not see her as a competition or threat. 'I remember Juhi Chawla spoke to me after I won and came back and she spoke to me very kindly. She said you are so beautiful and so tall, you carry yourself so well, think about going international,' she recalled and added, 'So those are the kind of people I am talking about, who don't look at you as competition. They don't look at you as a threat. They look at you as someone who is a junior, or like 'I might be able to teach them something', and that requires a lot of greatness.' 'I remember Sushmita cheering me on a lot. She said, 'I am so proud of you, you represented India so well', she gave me her best wishes. Aishwarya also, very dignified, very graceful, very classy. The way she talks, you listen to that and you know that this is the standard that we have to follow,' she said. She then spoke about how Diana's mentorship helped her at Miss World. Diana won Miss World in 1997. Yukta said, 'Diana Hayden motivated me so much. Before the competition, I would talk to her very often over the phone. Like she would give me tips on how I should handle certain things, or what kind of questions I should not answer. Or just be careful when you are speaking in Hindi because someone else must not feel that you are speaking ill about them. She prepared me for all those little things. I felt so comforted, and so held, like how we say 'badi didi hai voh (like an elder sister)'. She gave that to me.' Yukta had a short career in Hindi movies and she moved to pursuing her philanthropic activities.

Did Genelia D'Souza get 'married' to John Abraham on a movie set? She reveals, 'There was…'

Actors Genelia D'Souza and John Abraham were seen together in the 2011 film Force . Their on-screen chemistry stole hearts, making a lasting impression on the audience. One particular marriage scene between the two was so convincing that it made viewers believe it had actually happened. The love portrayed between them on screen was so intense that many assumed they were dating in real life. When the movie Force was about to release, some reports suggested that Genelia and John have accidentally got married as priest, mantras, garlands, the mangalsutra, and even the seven pheras were real. They shot the scene and ended by marrying in real. Genelia D'Souza breaks silence on 'accidentally getting married' to John Abraham Now, after 14 years, Genelia D'Souza has finally addressed this news report of 'accidentally getting married'. She called it one of the strangest rumours of her career and claimed it to be a fake news. The actress, who will be seen in Sitaare Zameen Par , said, 'There was no truth to it. We didn't get married. These stories were spread by PR, and I think you should ask them why they did it.' Genelia D'Souza got married to Riteish Deshmukh in 2011 and are parents to two sons Riaan and Rahyl. John Abraham, on the other side, married Priya Runchal in 2014. Genelia D'Souza on not getting work Genelia is hugely popular in the South and she has apparently worked in all languages including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Marathi. She will be seen in Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par. In a recent interview with Filmymantra Media , Genelia revealed she auditioned thrice for her part, but didn't mind it because she wanted to do a big film like this. She said, 'When people got to know I'm doing Sitaare Zameen Par, everybody said, 'Oh my god! So lucky! You're doing an Aamir Khan film!' I said of course, that's Aamir sir's bigness that he saw something in me. Of course, he made me audition. But you could also do that, right? You could also offer me a role'. She further said, 'Maybe you think I'm married so I don't need this character. I just feel filmmaking has changed, and so should our mentality. It's very important that if you want a character of a certain age, you should cast someone of that age. When we cast an actor who's much younger than the character I played, they can't understand the little-little things of it. It's important to cast right. And I hope opportunities go everyone's way.' Sitaare Zameen Par is all set to release on June 20, 2025.
