Bharti Airtel Q1 Results: Cons PAT jumps 43% YoY to Rs 5,948 crore, misses Street estimates; ARPU rises to Rs 250

Bharti Airtel on Tuesday reported a 43% YoY growth in its Q1 consolidated net profit at Rs 5,948 crore compared to Rs 4,159 crore in the year ago period. The profit after tax (PAT) is attributable to the owners of the parent and was below the Street estimates of Rs 6,400 crore. The company's revenue from operation stood at Rs 49,463 crore which was up 28% versus Rs 38,506 crore posted in the corresponding quarter of the last financial year. The topline was higher than the estimates of Rs 48,880 crore. Bharti Airtel's quarterly revenues were up 3.3% QoQ versus Rs 47,876 crore in Q4FY25. The company attributed the YOY and sequential uptick to strong performance in India and rebound in Africa on reported currency. The second largest domestic telecom operator in terms of subscriber base, reported an average revenue per user (mobile ARPU) of Rs 250 in Q1FY26 versus Rs 211 in the year ago period. Live Events Airtel India business India business posted quarterly revenues of Rs 37,585 crore which was up 29% YoY and 2.3% QoQ, backed by improved realisations in mobile segment and strong momentum in homes business. The India mobile services reported a 21.6% YoY revenue growth driven by ARPU improvement and continued strong additions of smartphone customers. Homes business growth trajectory further improved with a 25.7% YoY increase in revenues. Airtel Business saw revenues decline by 7.7% YoY due to portfolio transformation, aligning with company's strategic objective to discontinue low-margin business, the company filing said, adding that the underlying revenue performance remains steady. Digital TV revenues decreased by 1.8% YoY while Passive Infrastructure Services recorded a revenue increase of 4.3% QoQ, driven by 2,500 sites additions in Q1FY26. Airtel Customer additions Net customer additions were at an all-time high of 9,39,000 in Q1FY26, led by continued momentum in both FTTH and FWA segments. Consolidated Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortisation (EBITDA) at Rs 28,167 crore while the EBITDA margin stood at 56.9%. India business posted EBITDA of Rs 22,352 crore while the EBITDA margin was reported at 59.5%, up by 598 bps YoY.

Income Tax dept detected Rs 30,444 cr undisclosed income, conducted 465 surveys in FY25

The Income Tax department has conducted 465 surveys, leading to detection of undisclosed income of Rs 30,444 crore in the 2024-25 fiscal year, Parliament was informed on Tuesday. Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha said whenever any credible information of 'direct tax' evasion comes to its notice, it takes suitable actions, including surveys, search and seizure operations, assessments, to bring to tax, the undisclosed income. In FY24 and FY23, 737 and 1,245 surveys were conducted by the I-T department and undisclosed income of Rs 37,622 crore and 9,805 crore, respectively, were detected. Live Events The total number of groups searched during FY25 stood at 1,437 and assets seized stood at Rs 2,504 crore. In FY24, 1,166 groups were searched leading to total asset seizure of Rs 2,555 crore. In FY23, Rs 1,766 crore assets were seized following searches in 1,437 groups.

Uttarkashi mosoon fury: Catch all live and latest updates Here's what we know so far: Live Events At approximately 1:45 PM, a cloudburst occurred in the catchment area of the Kheer Ganga river, triggering sudden flash floods that swept through Dharali village, about 4 km from the Indian Army's Harshil Camp. Dharali is a popular stop for pilgrims and tourists en route to Gangotri and is home to numerous hotels, restaurants, and homestays. The Indian Army deployed 150 personnel who reached the affected site within 10 minutes of the incident and began immediate rescue efforts. 'So far, 15–20 individuals have been successfully evacuated, with the injured receiving prompt medical treatment at the Indian Army medical facility in Harshil,' the Army said in an official statement. Search operations are continuing to trace those feared buried or stranded. Initial inputs from locals and authorities paint a grim picture of the destruction. Rajesh Panwar, a local resident, told PTI, 'About 10–12 people could be buried under the debris. Twenty to twenty-five hotels and homestays may have been washed away.' Dramatic visuals from the area showed torrents of muddy water, silt, and debris inundating the settlements. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami confirmed the calamity in a post on X, saying, 'The news of heavy losses due to cloudburst in Dharali (Uttarkashi) area is extremely sad and painful. SDRF, NDRF, district administration and other related teams are engaged on war footing in relief and rescue operations. I am constantly in touch with senior officials in this regard and the situation is being closely monitored. I pray to God for everyone's safety,' Dhami said. Uttarakhand Police also posted an update urging residents to stay away from rivers. 'Due to the rising water levels in Kheer Gadh in Dharali, Uttarkashi, reports of damage have been received in the Dharali market area. Police, Fire, SDRF, Army, along with other disaster relief and rescue teams, are engaged in relief and rescue operations at the scene,' the police said.

Amid ruckus, Harivansh, who was in the Chair, took up two statutory resolutions, including one for extending the President's rule in Manipur for another six months. Live Events He said it was a constitutional obligation, and told the members that the House has passed only one Bill in the session so far. The Chair also disallowed any remarks made by Opposition leaders on issues other than the resolution that was being taken. Opposition MPs continued to raise slogans on the SIR issue, as a couple of members also tried to participate in the discussion on the resolution for extending President's Rule in Manipur beyond August 13. The resolution to extend the President's rule in Manipur, and the other one of the Finance Ministry to amend the Second Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act, 1975, were passed by voice vote. The Chair then adjourned the House for the day as protests continued. Earlier, in the morning sitting, Congress and other Opposition parties created uproar in the Rajya Sabha soon after the House met, alleging CISF personnel were deployed in the House last week, an assertion vehemently rejected by both the Chair and the government, who said the personnel belonged to parliamentary security services . Protests by Congress and other Opposition parties during the morning session ( Zero Hour ) led to the adjournment of the proceedings till 2 pm.
