Burning Elstow Waste Transfer Site demolished to fight fire

Disposable barbecue caused large Croft Hill grassland fire
A discarded disposable barbecue was believed to be the cause of a large grassland fire in Leicestershire, a fire investigation crews worked through the night to bring the wildfire under control at Croft Hill at about 20:15 BST on 3 Fire and Rescue Service said an area of about 2,000 sq m had been destroyed and urged people to "remain vigilant and practice fire safety" outdoors during warm and dry fire service added: "With further nice weather expected, we understand the temptation to enjoy cooked food outdoors, but please consider packing a picnic instead."

Disposable barbecue blamed for Nesscliffe woodland fire
A woodland fire that took more than six hours to bring under control is believed to have been caused by a disposable fire engines were sent to the blaze after Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said they were called about the fire in Nesscliffe, near Shrewsbury, at about 22:15 BST on blaze involved about 20 sq m (215 sq ft) of woodland and undergrowth at Hopton brigade said, after the fire was out by 04:48 BST on Sunday, it was believed to have been caused by a disposable barbecue. Fire-hit building in Matlock unsafe for investigation work
A derelict fire-hit building in Derbyshire has been left unsafe for investigations into the cause to Fire and Rescue Service said crews from Matlock, Crich, Alfreton, Clay Cross and Wirksworth were called to Lumsdale Road, Matlock, at 17:20 BST on were advised to keep windows and doors closed while the blaze was dealt with but as darkness fell crews were forced to leave the scene at about 22: fire was fully out by about 11:30 on Wednesday but the brigade said the "unsafe condition" of the building has prevented any investigators from beginning a probe into the cause.

Firefighters tackling recycling lorry fire
Firefighters are tackling a recycling lorry which is on fire in Devon. Crews were called to Magdalen Street, Exeter at 06:32 BST. Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the blaze involves rubbish inside a refuse lorry. A spokesperson said part of the vehicle had failed but crews had managed to gain access to the rubbish compartment after previously being unable to.
