Crockett criticizes AOC and Bernie Sanders' 'Fighting Oligarchy' tour for making it about themselves

Firebrand Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, privately trashed her far-left colleagues Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., accusing them of not being team players and going on tour simply to promote themselves. In May, as Crockett was eyeing a bid to become the senior Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, she met with fellow Democrat, Oregon Rep. Maxine Dexter. During the meeting, Crockett was asked about her relationship with Ocasio-Cortez, according to a new profile in The Atlantic. Dexter had concerns that Crockett could have conflicts with party leadership, much like Ocasio-Cortez did when she first came to Congress. The Texas lawmaker replied that, unlike AOC, she did not want to "burn it down" and that she was more committed to working to advance the Democratic Party as a whole. She pointed to AOC and Sanders' "Fighting Oligarchy Tour" as a "good idea," but one that ultimately was constructed just to boost the brands of the two lawmakers. AOC and Sanders have been crisscrossing the country on the tour, bringing their left-wing message to crowds of thousands. "[The tour] kind of makes people be like, 'Oh, it's about them, right?' Instead of the team," Crockett said. Crockett ultimately withdrew from the race for the Oversight Committee spot after comments she made regarding supporting a potential Trump impeachment sent shockwaves through swing-district Democrats. Crockett has a history of making insulting comments about Republicans and Trump. She was accused of mocking wheelchair-bound Texas Gov. Greg Abbott as "Governor Hot Wheels" in March. "We in these hot a-- Texas streets, honey. Y'all know we got Governor Hot Wheels down there, come on now! And the only thing hot about him is that he is a hot a-- mess, honey!," she said at a March Human Rights Campaign event in Los Angeles. Crockett infamously got into a nasty fight with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., which featured both lawmakers lobbing schoolyard-level insults. The shouting match began when Greene insulted Crockett's "fake eyelashes." Things only devolved from there, with the Texas Democrat launching into a verbal assault about Greene's "bleach-blond, bad-built, butch body." Crockett went on to sell merchandise based around the insults. Crockett, Ocasio-Cortez and Sanders did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett insists ‘granddaddy' Biden's acuity ‘supreme' compared to Trump

Firebrand Rep. Jasmine Crockett defended former President Joe Biden's mental acuity and argued that his cognition was 'supreme' compared to President Trump during a recent podcast interview. Shrugging off bombshell revelations about Biden's decline from the new book 'Original Sin' and elsewhere, Crockett (D-Texas) underscored that she 'never saw anything' from the 46th president that caused her to question his infirmity. 'Even if we want to say — which I refuse to accept — that Joe Biden was mentally deficient, let me tell you something, his mental deficiency is still a thousand times better than what we currently have,' Crockett said on Katie Couric's 'Next Question' podcast in an episode that dropped Thursday. Advertisement 'I just wish that, ultimately, this country would judge each of our leaders with the same measuring stick.' Questions about Biden's cognitive abilities reached a fever pitch almost exactly a year ago in the aftermath of his fumbling debate performance against Trump, in which he repeatedly lost his train of thought and appeared stone-faced at times, mouth agape. 3 The Texas congresswoman said in her personal experience with him, former President Joe Biden seemed fine. Getty Images for SiriusXM Advertisement 3 The former president was poised to attend an African Methodist Episcopal church in Galveston, Texas, to celebrate Juneteenth on Thursday. AP The stunning debate prompted a revolt among Democrats that ultimately culminated with Biden dropping out of the race in July of last year. Recently, those dramatic events have been revisited in the bombshell book 'Original Sin' by star Axios reporter Alex Thompson and CNN anchor Jake Tapper, triggering soul searching among Democrats over Biden, who announced his prostate cancer diagnosis last month. On Wednesday, the GOP-led Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing on Biden's use of autopen and his supposed cognitive decline. The House Oversight Committee is conducting a similar probe. Advertisement Crockett had stood by Biden during the Democratic revolt last summer. She likened his condition to that of her grandmother, whom the rep said 'mentally she was still there' despite aging and slowing down. 3 President Trump has publicly bashed Rep. Jasmine Crockett. AP 'We all slow down. But I will tell you that I will take a broken — or however they want to describe Joe Biden — over Donald Trump any given day, because, number one, I know Joe Biden's heart,' the Texas Democrat contended. 'Even if you're saying that there was a mentally deficient Joe Biden, I know that he absolutely had a mental acuity that is supreme when it comes to comparing him to Donald Trump, because at least he kept good people around him.' Advertisement The outspoken Texas congresswoman also recalled her personal interactions with Biden to argue that he was not in significant decline during his time running the country. 'The average person has not been given the level of access that the average member of Congress has to the president,' she explained. 'I never saw anything in Joe Biden that made me wonder whatsoever, and it's not that I was with Joe Biden every single day, that's for sure. But as I talked about my grandparents — the way that I would describe Joe is like, I mean, he's a granddaddy, right?'

British Hollywood A-lister goes from riches to rags for a major role in Michael B. Jordan's The Thomas Crown Affair reboot

After trying on Henry VIII's royal robes for Firebrand, Jude Law is set for another transformation which will see him trade the crown for something far more sinister The British heartthrob, 52, is reportedly stepping into villain territory for The Thomas Crown Affair reboot, directed by and starring Michael B. Jordan, according to The Sun. The classic heist tale is getting its third big-screen makeover, following in the footsteps of Steve McQueen (1968) and Pierce Brosnan (1999) — but this time, it's Jude who will take on the role of a key villain. A source told the publication: 'Jude is a huge signing for Michael and he will start filming soon. His role is being kept under wraps but he will play a baddie. 'Jude is a phenomenal actor and can't wait to get his teeth into this role.' The publication then claimed that Michael will be putting a 'fresh spin' on the story with the to give viewers a 'news perspective'. Michael is set to embark on this next major directing project after he broke box office records for his directing debut with Creed III. In addition to directing and starring, he is also set to be producing the film with his Outlier Society banner alongside Elizabeth Raposo, according to Deadline. Outlier Society has a first-look film deal and overall TV deal with Amazon MGM Studios, and together, they will be releasing the film exclusively in theaters worldwide. This remake comes two decades after the 1999 version starring Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo was released. Jordan will be starring in the third remake and playing the rich playboy, who enjoys stealing art for a hobby but falls for an insurance investigator. The original 1968 movie, which was directed by Norman Jewison, paired Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway. The logline for the original film reads: 'A debonair, adventuresome bank executive believes he has pulled off the perfect multi-million dollar heist, only to match wits with a sexy insurance investigator who will do anything to get her man.' According to Deadline, Jordan's on-screen love interest has not been casted and his next priority will be finding his female lead. Michael is set to embark on this next major directing project after he broke box office records for his directing debut with Creed III Not much else about the project has been revealed, but the outlet reported that Drew Pearce wrote the script. A previous draft was written by Wes Tooke and Justin Britt-Gibson and was based on the original film. The outlet also reported that Jordan and his banner has been developing the project for some time. After he recently wrapped production on Ryan Coogler's untitled Warner Bros. supernatural thriller, Jordan was keen to direct again.
