Round 2 of FYJC admissions: 2L students select college of choice
Mumbai: Over two lakh students have selected their college preferences for the second merit list of First Year Junior College (FYJC) admissions across Maharashtra within the first day of the application period. The application period for registrations and college preference selection is till July 13. The second merit list will be announced on July 17. In the first round, of a total of six lakh students who applied for admissions, 68% secured admissions and confirmed their admissions with the respective colleges. This is the first time admissions for 9,435 junior colleges statewide have been conducted on a unified online platform — the Centralised Admission Process.

FYJC CAP round 2 registration begins, deadline July 13
Pune: The Centralized Admission Process (CAP) for First Year Junior College (FYJC) admissions for the academic year 2025-26 has entered its second phase. The registration window for CAP Round 2 began today, July 10, and will remain open until July 13. After completion of the first round, 8,117 students newly registered. Round 2 aims to fill the vacant seats left unoccupied after the first round. The updated merit list will be released based on fresh applications and available vacancies. Students who were not allotted a seat in the first round or those who wish to upgrade their choice have been advised to complete the process within the given timeline. In this round, students are required to select at least one and maximum ten preferred junior colleges. Those who did not confirm their admission in the first round are also allowed to participate and can make changes to their previously selected stream or college preferences. The allotment of seats under CAP Round 2 will be declared on July 17. Selected students will be notified through their student or college login .After allotment, students must report to the allotted colleges between July 18 and July 21 to complete the admission process, which includes uploading necessary documents online. The list of vacant seats available for the next round of admissions will be published on July 23. In the first round, a total of 5,08,096 students accepted admission offers. Of these, 4,32,287 students were allotted seats through the general CAP system, while 75,809 students secured admission through various quota categories. Stream-wise data shows that science remained the most preferred choice, with 3,42,801 students opting for it. This was followed by arts with 1,49,791 students and commerce with 1,39,602 students. The Directorate of Education (Secondary and Higher Secondary), Maharashtra, has also issued a circular to junior colleges including minority colleges across the state regarding the surrender of vacant quota seats following the completion of the first regular round of First Year Junior College (FYJC) online admissions Authorities of all higher secondary schools and junior colleges have been instructed that returning vacant seats under the management and in-house quotas is optional for both minority and non-minority institutions. This includes the minority quota seats in colleges that hold recognized minority status. If any applications are received under the minority quota during CAP Round 2, such applicants will be given first preference for admission under the minority quota. Only after those admissions are completed will any remaining surrendered seats be considered for general allocation under CAP Round 2. Education officers and divisional heads across Maharashtra have been directed to ensure junior colleges within their jurisdictions comply promptly and inform the concerned principals.

Over 5 lakh confirm seats in first round of Maharashtra FYJC admissions, second round from July 10
Over five lakh candidates have confirmed admission to Class 11 under the first round of First Year Junior College (FYJC) admissions in Maharashtra, which concluded by Monday evening. This was notified by the Office of the Deputy Director of Education (DyDE), along with the declaration of the schedule for the second round which will start on July 10. As per the schedule, candidates can upgrade their applications, which includes editing any information or rearranging of preference order of colleges, in the second round from July 10 to July 13. The second merit list for FYJC admissions will be declared on July 17. Candidates who are allotted seats in this merit list can confirm admissions from July 18 to 21. The information on the vacant list for the third round of CAP for FYJC will be published on July 23. Out of the 5,08,096 candidates who have confirmed admissions in the first round, 4,32,287 came under the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) and 75,809 confirmed their seats under various quotas such as minority, management, and in-house, officials said. Among eight divisions for FYJC admissions across the state, the highest number of 91,001 is recorded in Pune; followed by the Mumbai division with 87,558 admissions. With 32,856 confirmations, the Latur division has the lowest number of admissions in the first round of FYJC. Out of total admissions confirmed in the first round of FYJC, the highest number of admissions – 2,35,506 – is in the science stream; followed by Arts stream with 1,17,447 confirmed admissions. In the Commerce stream, 79,334 admissions have been confirmed. Following multiple delays due to technical and other issues, the first merit list for FYJC admissions was declared on June 28. Candidates who were allotted seats in the merit list were given time until July 7 to confirm admissions. It was mandatory for candidates to confirm admission if allotted a seat in the first preferred college. 'If they have failed to do so, such candidates will be out of the CAP for the second round. Whereas all other candidates who may have decided to wait for a better seat allotment will get a chance to reshuffle their college preferences for the second round,' said an officer overseeing the FYJC admissions. The officer also added that colleges offering minority or other quota seats are also informed that they will get to surrender their quota seats to CAP if they want to. 'If there are applications for admission under quota in the upcoming round, those seats will be given priority,' said the official.

FYJC admission: July 7 last day to confirm round 1 seats
PUNE: The deadline to confirm admissions in the first round of the centralised First Year Junior College (FYJC) admission process will end at 5pm on Monday. In addition, 77,209 students secured admission through quota-based seats, taking the total confirmed admissions to 4,70,002. This year, for the first time, the entire FYJC admission process is being conducted centrally and online across the state. The process includes 9,435 junior colleges with a combined 19,324 streams. Among these, 9,020 streams have received applications exceeding their intake capacity, while 10,304 streams have received fewer applications than the available seats. Students who have not completed Part-1 of their application in the first round can do it till 5pm on Monday on the official admission portal. Vacant seats for round 1 will be displayed on July 9. Students who could not take part in the process or did not get admission in round 1 can apply for round 2 admission. The distribution of confirmed admissions based on student's SSC marks reveals that 29 students secured admission with a perfect 100%, and 2,489 students fall in the 80% to 99% range. A significant number of 10,278 students were admitted with less than 40% marks. Additionally, the admission portal recorded over 9,020 cases where applications were submitted but are still pending scrutiny. The distribution of confirmed admissions based on student's SSC marks reveals that 29 students secured admission with a perfect 100%, and 2,489 students fall in the 80% to 99% range. Another 1,888 students scored between 60% and 79%, and 3,505 students in the 40% to 59% category. A significant number of 10,278 students were admitted with less than 40% marks. Additionally, the admission portal recorded over 9,020 cases where applications were submitted but are still pending scrutiny. Students applying in round 2 can submit their preferences (Part-2 of the form) between July 10-13. Students were allotted colleges across eight municipal regions, including Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Nashik, Aurangabad, Amravati, and others. Among these, Mumbai region had the highest number of applicants (80,858), followed by Pune (79,417) and Nashik (56,678). 'I got admission in a non-grant college but didn't want to take the risk of waiting for the next round. So, I confirmed it. But, I'm now worried about managing the fees and other expenses. I am from Nashik and will be staying in a hostel here,' said Priya Gavit, a student. The education department has urged students to complete the admission formalities on time to secure their preferred college and stream. 'Although I did not get admission in the college I wanted, I am happy I secured a seat in SP College. This year, the cut-off was higher than expected,' said Akash Pawar, a student.

Delay in FYJC admissions, first merit list to be out on June 30
The first merit of the First Year Junior College (FYJC) admissions in Maharashtra which was to be declared on Thursday, will now be out on June 30 (Monday). This is the fourth revision to FYJC admission schedule adding another delay of four days to the Common Admission Process (CAP). Director of Education (Secondary) Mahesh Palkar, said, 'The data which is huge in numbers is yet under process leading to the delay in declaration of merit list. Now the first merit list will be declared on June 30. And a revised admission schedule for CAP will be released soon.' But with a lack of clarity on postponement on Thursday, there was panic among FYJC aspirants and their parents who kept refreshing the official admission website to check for the first merit list. According to parents, there is already much chaos around FYJC admissions and every delay is leading to increased anxiety among students. One of the parents said, 'The least they could do is put up a message on the official website that the first merit list is not going to be declared on Thursday as per the schedule. We kept checking the website after every hour for the merit list.' Several parents have also pointed out that with another delay to FYJC admissions, their wards are now sitting idle for more than three months. 'The SSC (Class 10) board exam was over in March. It was declared that board exams are being held early so that the next academic year will begin on time after admissions. But now, even as June is ending, there is no clarity on FYJC admissions.' The FYJC admissions this year are extended to the entire Maharashtra as opposed to a separate online process for each city, which was the practice until last year. Over 12.7 lakh students have registered for FYJC admissions from across the state. Citing that this huge number of candidates has delayed the processing of data, the date to declare the first merit list was earlier pushed from June 10 to June 26.
