Wisconsin basketball officially reveals 2025-26 non-conference schedule
Wisconsin basketball officially revealed its 2025-26 nonconference schedule on Wednesday. Following several reports throughout the offseason, the Badgers confirmed their slate of matchups for their non-Big Ten bouts, including the dates for each contest. In total, Wisconsin will face 13 teams from Oct. 24 to Dec. 30, with two of those contests being exhibitions before the official start of the regular season. While the program has yet to receive specific dates for its conference tilts, UW will host Iowa, Maryland, Michigan State, Northwestern, Rutgers, UCLA and USC, travel to Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Nebraska, Oregon, Penn State and Washington, then face Minnesota, Ohio State and Purdue both home and away. The Badgers will begin their non-conference journey with exhibitions against the Oklahoma Sooners at Milwaukee's Fiserv Forum on Oct. 24 before hosting UW-Plateville in another exhibition on Oct. 29. The Campbell Fighting Camels will make the trek to Madison for Wisconsin's first regular season game on Nov. 3, followed by a trio of bouts against Northern Illinois (Nov. 7), Ball State (Nov. 11) and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (Nov. 17). Gard's group will then transition to its most difficult stretch of the non-conference season, beginning with a test against future lottery pick A.J. Dybantsa and the BYU Cougars. The contest, set to take place in Salt Lake City on Nov. 21, will be a rematch of the Badgers' loss to the Cougars in the 2025 NCAA Tournament. That high-profile meeting comes just six days before UW ventures to San Diego, California, for the Rady Children's Invitational, where it will face Providence and the winner of TCU/Florida on Nov. 27 and Nov. 28, respectively. UW will then wrap its pre-Big Ten portion of the season with its I-94 battle against Marquette on Dec. 6, a showdown vs. Villanova in the Milwaukee Hoops Showdown at Fiserv Forum on Dec. 19, a Dec. 22 game against Central Michigan and an in-state tune-up vs. UW-Milwaukee on Dec. 30. Fresh off a 27-10 output a season ago, Wisconsin will look to returning starters John Blackwell and Nolan Winter, plus transfers Nick Boyd, Andrew Rohde and Austin Rapp, to make the most significant impacts on both ends of the floor this season. In a crowded 18-team Big Ten, a strong performance against non-conference foes will prove beneficial as the postseason rolls around. Wisconsin basketball officially announces non-conference matchup against Big East power
Wisconsin basketball officially announced its Dec. 19 neutral-site non-conference game against Villanova on Friday. Initially reported by CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein, the contest will transpire at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as part of a two-game series. The latter match is set to tip at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as a part of the 2026-27 slate. "Any time you get the chance to schedule a powerhouse program like Villanova it's a win-win," Wisconsin head coach Greg Gard told "We get the chance to measure ourselves in the non-conference and Badgers fans in Wisconsin get to see a big-time college basketball game. Much like our exhibition against Oklahoma, I'm excited for our fans and alumni in Milwaukee to get a game in their backyard. The atmosphere has been awesome every time we've played in that area and I have no doubt Fiserv will be filled with red for these games as well." The Dec. 19 showdown will also mark the first bout between the two programs since No. 8 Wisconsin upset No. 1 Villanova on a Nigel Hayes game-winner in the 2017 NCAA Tournament. UW will also suit up against opposing head coach Kevin Willard, who has served as Maryland's head coach since the 2022-23 season. 2025-26 will be his first year at the helm with the Wildcats. Of note, Willard's Terrapins defeated the Badgers 76-68 in College Park a season ago with strong performances from big men Julian Reese and Derik Queen. He owns a 2-3 clip all-time against Greg Gard's program. Wisconsin's other notable regular-season non-conference matchups include BYU in Salt Lake City, Utah, Marquette in Madison, Providence at the Rady's Children's Invitational, and the winner of TCU vs. Florida. UW will also take on the UW-Milwaukee Panthers on Dec. 30, the Oklahoma Sooners in an October exhibition and the Campbell Fighting Camels on Nov. 3 at the Kohl Center. Villanova, which won a pair of NCAA titles under legendary head coach Jay Wright in 2016 and 2018, is in search of its first NCAA Tournament appearance since the 2021-22 season. Wisconsin, meanwhile, aims to lean on top returning starters John Blackwell and Nolan Winter, plus transfers Nick Boyd, Andrew Rohde and Austin Rapp, to return to the postseason after a 27-10 output during the 2024-25 campaign. Wisconsin basketball to face nonconference foe for first time in program history
NEWS: Wisconsin and Campbell will meet in the 2025-26 College Basketball season opener on Monday, November 3rd at the Kohl Center, per multiple will mark the Fighting Camels' head coaching debut for John Andrzejek. #B1G #CAAHoops The Wisconsin Badgers will tip off against the Campbell Fighting Camels on Nov. 3 at the Kohl Center, according to a report from college basketball analyst Rocco Miller. Per Miller's report, which he released on Friday, the season-opening contest will mark the debut of Campbell head coach John Andrzejek. The November showdown will also be Wisconsin's first game played against Campbell in program history. The news arrives roughly two weeks after Wisconsin's most recent nonconference announcement: an in-state meeting against the UW-Milwaukee Panthers on Dec. 30 in Madison. Before both contests, the Badgers will open their season in late October with an exhibition against Oklahoma in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Mixed in during the nonconference schedule, Wisconsin will also make the trek to Salt Lake City, Utah, for an NCAA Tournament rematch against BYU and an introduction to future NBA lottery pick AJ Dybantsa. Gard's group will also venture to San Diego, California, for the Rady Children's Invitational in late November for games against Providence and the winner of TCU vs. Florida. That will precede a Dec. 6 bout vs. the Marquette Golden Eagles at home. Wisconsin will face its final nonconference teams when it laces up in mid-December against Villanova at the Fiserv Forum before welcoming Milwaukee to the Kohl Center. The Fighting Camels now join that list of opponents in search of their first winning season since 2021-22. Campbell went 15-17 a season ago, which included a 10-8 mark in Coastal Athletic Association action. The crew finished with the fifth-best record in the CAA and ended the season with a 79-62 loss to Delaware on March 8. Wisconsin, meanwhile, projects to trot out an entirely new unit during the 2025-26 season. That lineup, headlined by returners John Blackwell and Nolan Winter, plus transfers Nick Boyd, Andrew Rohde and Austin Rapp, will aim to build an early chemistry that can persist through the remainder of the regular season. Fresh off a 27-10 performance in 2024-25, UW will strive to earn another opportunity to compete in postseason action. Donald Trump Ally Reacts to Ghislaine Maxwell Testifying About Epstein
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Roger Stone, a longtime political ally of President Donald Trump, has welcomed reports that Ghislaine Maxwell might be willing to testify to Congress about her ties to Jeffrey Epstein. In a post on X, Stone said Epstein's former associate "has nothing on Trump," pushing back on speculation that Maxwell's testimony could implicate the president. Epstein, a wealthy financier, died by suicide in jail in August 2019, weeks after his arrest on sex trafficking charges. His case has assumed renewed significance after the Trump administration ordered a review of the case and said it would publish names and evidence about associates of Epstein. However, a recent memo by the Department of Justice and the FBI stated there is no "client list," and there will be no more charges. This has triggered a backlash among those who want transparency about Epstein. According to an anonymous source speaking to the Daily Mail, Maxwell, who was convicted in 2022 over her links to Epstein's illicit activities and is serving a 20-year prison sentence, has expressed a willingness to testify before Congress about her experiences. Kai Trump Cheered as Attempted Assassination Story Revealed
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Donald Trump Jr., the president's son, has said his daughter Kai Trump, then aged 17, decided she wanted to speak at the 2024 Republican National Convention (RNC) after her grandfather narrowly survived an assassination attempt on July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania. He made the revelation on Friday at Turning Point USA's Student Action Summit in Tampa, Florida, during an interview with the group's founder Charlie Kirk. Newsweek contacted Kai Trump for comment via email on Saturday. Why It Matters Kai Trump won plaudits for her July 2024 RNC speech, which took place just days after her grandfather, then seeking a second term in the White House, was lightly wounded by a gunman at his rally in Pennsylvania. Kai Trump described Donald Trump as "just a normal grandpa" adding: "I was shocked when I heard that he had been shot. A lot of people have put my grandpa through hell, and he's still standing." Trump Jr.'s revelation shows how the Trump family responded personally to the assassination bid and comes as his daughter has become a significant social media personality in her own right. What To Know Speaking to Kirk, Donald Trump Jr. described being with his daughter on a fishing trip when he heard his father had been shot. He said: "I was with her, on July 13th when my father was shot. I got an unusual call from my daughter that morning saying, 'Hey, I want to go fishing.' Which, you know, if you have a teenage daughter…you're not often calling dad to go do something. So when you call dad he's going to do it." Trump Jr. said they were about 13-14 miles offshore when he "got the call" adding: "I picked up my phone. It's like 'Your dad's been shot'…We didn't know anything. And we're frantically kind of calling. I guess the only thing that I guess they did right that day was shut down other communications." Daughter of Donald Trump Jr., Kai Trump, speaks on stage on the third day of the Republican National Convention at the Fiserv Forum on July 17, 2024 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Chip Somodevilla/GETTY The president's son continued: "I think we set the sea speed record from offshore into Jupiter, where we live and, you know, finally we were able to get my dad on the phone and, you know, it was sort of a harrowing thing. By then we had seen some of the videos of him coming back up with a sort of 'fight, fight, fight,' and I just got on the phone…I'm not usually at a loss for words, but that was one of those where I was like, 'I got nothing.'" According to Trump Jr., the incident had a big impact on his daughter, who he said "has probably spent more time with my dad one-on-one than I have" as she "plays [golf] with him every weekend when he was around, and that was all the time." The following morning Trump Jr. said he got a call from Kai and "she was like 'you know what? I want to speak at the RNC.'" Kai was cheered by conference attendees after Kirk told Trump Jr. "your daughter is a very good golfer" after which the host added: "I told you she had a lot of fans here." Kai has built up her own social media following with 3.2 million followers on TikTok, 1.8 million on Instagram and nearly 1.2 million on YouTube. She shares content about her life and some relating to her grandfather, such as his second presidential inauguration in January. What People Are Saying Speaking at the 2024 RNC Kai said: "My name is Kai Madison Trump. I am the granddaughter of Donald Trump. I'm speaking today to share the side of my grandpa that people don't often see. To me, he's just a normal grandpa. He gives us candy and soda when our parents aren't looking. He always wants to know how we're doing in school. When I made the high honor roll, he printed it out to show his friends how proud he was of me. I know." What Happens Next Kai Trump is likely to continue producing content for her fans on social media. It remains to be seen whether she will make any more political interventions going forward.
