Fisher vs Allen 2 LIVE: Start time, undercard and fight updates
and Dave Allen will square off in a highly-anticipated rematch tonight, after their controversial first clash in December. In Saudi Arabia seven months ago, Fisher survived a shock knockdown to win a widely-disputed decision over his old friend, keeping the 'Romford Bull' unbeaten. Such was the controversy around the scoring that Fisher was left with almost no option but to try to set things right. As such, a rematch between the 26-year-old and Allen, 33, was booked for this evening at London's Copper Box Arena. • 'Morally, in my heart, I thought the rematch wasn't something I had to do, but I felt it was right to do,' Fisher told the BBC this week, adding: 'I sort of forgot we're not mates [in the ring]. You're there to dispatch the other guy. I probably got brought into being a bit too pally with him.' Fisher also said: 'When you hear the noise in the media, you'd think it was all negative, but walking down the street, people kept telling me it was a great fight and praising the resilience I showed. Looking at it impartially, honestly, and breaking it down with my team, I really had a positive outlook on [the first fight]. Even with a knockdown... Yes, it's close, but I still truly believe I won it by one round.' Fisher vs Allen 2 LIVE: Welcome! Fisher vs Allen 2 start time, undercard and how to watch fight tonight
Johnny Fisher and Dave Allen will each look to set things right this evening, as they square off in a heavyweight rematch, five months after their controversial first clash. In Saudi Arabia in December, on the undercard of Tyson Fury's rematch with Oleksandr Usyk, Fisher survived a shock knockdown by Allen to outpoint his old friend, although most observers felt Allen had been robbed of a rightful victory. The scorecards ultimately read 95-94, 93-96, 95-94 in Fisher's favour, as the 'Romford Bull' stayed unbeaten. Meanwhile, the 26-year-old's former sparring partner was left heartbroken, as he was denied the first title of his career – the WBA Intercontinental belt. Tonight, Fisher and Allen, 33, will meet on home soil in London, as Fisher aims to turn the Copper Box into the 'Copper Bosh' – as he and his father 'Big John' call it – once more, following his quickfire demolition of Alen Babic in the same venue last July. Will it be another brawl? Will Fisher erase doubts around the ceiling of his ability, or will Allen confirm the apparent superiority he showed in December? Here's all you need to know. When is the fight and what time will it start? Fisher vs Allen 2 will take place on Saturday 17 May at the Copper Box in London. The fight card is due to begin at 7pm BST (11am PT, 1pm CT, 2pm ET), with main-event ring walks expected from 10pm BST (2pm PT, 4pm CT, 5pm ET). How can I watch it? Fisher can end arguments with win Johnny Fisher was awarded a controversial victory when these heavyweights last met in December. Dave Allen put the favourite on the canvas in the fifth round of that fight and clearly did enough to win, only to see his opponent preferred by two of the judges in a split-decision points verdict. In the first bout, the 'Romford Bull' was looking for an early knockout and ran out of gas by the middle rounds. He was out on his feet after being knocked down and has to be given some credit for surviving to the final bell, even if his performance was ultimately a huge disappointment. Allen may regret not taking the opportunity to make the win official when he had the chance. Fisher was there to be taken, but the 33-year-old has his own stamina issues and did not have enough in the tank to put him away. The question now is whether Fisher has learnt from his mistakes. He won the early rounds in the first fight and if he takes a more patient approach this time and conserves energy, then he should be able to continue in that vein and record a more legitimate points victory. Back younger man to improve punch stats At the very least we can expect Fisher to put in a better performance than he managed in the first fight in Riyadh. He has tried once to blow Allen away and saw that strategy fail, with the strong chin and defensive skills of his opponent proving enough to resist the early onslaught. A steadier, more measured performance would seem the requisite strategy and that should mean Fisher is more consistent throughout the fight with the number of punches he throws and lands. In the first contest he landed 125 from 395. I'm backing him to improve on those statistics and land 150 or more. Fisher vs Allen odds
