Nagpur: The 87th Foundation Day of the (CRPF) was celebrated with great zeal nationwide, commemorating the force's rich legacy since its inception in 1939 in Neemuch. Commandant Dao Injirkan Kindo led the event, joined by senior officers including Sujeet Kumar, Chandramor Anil, and Raju Wagh. The ceremony concluded with the distribution of sweets, reinforcing camaraderie and patriotic spirit. The event underlined CRPF's enduring values of courage, discipline, and unwavering service to the nation.

Indian Army Organises Solemn Naming Ceremony Of Newly Constructed Kargil Bypass Bridge

The Indian Army organised a solemn Naming Ceremony of the newly constructed Kargil Bypass Bridge, which has been officially named as 'Captain Anuj Nayyar, Maha Vir Chakra Setu' as a tribute to the sacrifices of Captain Anuj Nayyar and soldiers of 17 JAT Battalion and the unwavering support by the citizens of Kargil. Captain Anuj Nayyar made the ultimate sacrifice while capturing Pimple Complex on the Western Slopes of Point 4875 in the Mushkoh Valley during Operation Vijay in 1999 and was posthumously awarded the Maha Vir Chakra, India's second-highest military decoration for the brave act. ​The naming ceremony was attended by Captain Anuj Nayyar's mother, Meena Nayyar, and her younger son, Karan Nayyar, apart from a few family guests, apart from dignitaries as well and representatives of the 17 JAT Battalion. Meena Nayyar and Karan Nayyar unveiled a commemorative plaque. In her address, she remembered her son and expressed gratitude that Captain Anuj's name will be etched forever in golden words in the history of Kargil. '​Captain Anuj Nayyar, Maha Vir Chakra Setu' will provide an alternate route bypassing the Kargil town, thus significantly improving traffic flow and regional connectivity along the strategic National Highway 1-D. The bridge, which stands as a beacon of patriotism and sacrifice, will continue to inspire the younger generations. The Indian Army remains committed to honouring its heroes and keeping their memories alive for generations to come. As part of the broader 'Fit India Sundays on Cycle' initiative, the rally aimed to encourage cycling for health and unify communities in support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a fit and active India. The event began with a formal ceremony, including the unfurling of the national flag, the singing of the national anthem, and a moment of silence to pay tribute to the martyrs of the Indian Armed Forces, particularly those who lost their lives in the Kargil War. The rally commenced from Nishat Garden, followed a scenic route along the picturesque Dal Lake, and concluded at the Botanical Garden. Approximately 200 participants took part in the event, including 70 BSF jawans, civil dignitaries, and local youth. The diverse group of cyclists, including civilians, aimed to spread the message of fitness and patriotism. Participants carried the national tricolor, fostering a sense of national unity, and the event received enthusiastic support from locals along the route. Officials said, 'It's to highlight the importance of physical fitness for both youth and soldiers,' stating, 'Physical fitness is important for youth. And you can understand that whenever there is a soldier, whether he is in the police or anyone else, it is very important for him to remain physically fit, and this is very important for military duty and is a very important part of his curriculum.' They emphasized the rally's role in promoting fitness and national pride. By involving local youth and civilians, the rally fostered unity and encouraged community participation in nation-building activities. The warm response from locals along the Dal Lake route underscored the event's success in connecting with the community. The BSF has a significant history in Jammu and Kashmir, guarding borders and later taking on counter-insurgency roles since 1990. Starting from Birla Hostel C, the cycle rally will pass through Morvi Hostel, Vishwanath Temple and Kasturba Girls Hostel before reaching Birla Hostel C, the endpoint. Yesterday, some reports claimed that Ministry of Health had issued an order to government canteens and restaurants to put up an information board mentioning details such as the amount of oil, sugar, and fat in popular Indian snacks like samosas and jalebis. The ministry, as claimed by the reports, also directed to cover other food products such as burgers, soft drinks, pizza, and chocolate pastries. The Ministry took the move reportedly to raise awareness about unhealthy food items and eating habits, highlighting rising obesity levels in India and supporting the Fit India initiative. Fit India Initiative Fit India Initiative is the central government's campaign that encourages people of India to live and follow healthy and active life. Earlier this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the gathering at the National Games opening ceremony in Dehradun, requested countrymen to adopt fitness as part of daily routine. He demanded consistent rules for all food products that include alcohol. 'We have unanimously advocated uniform regulations across all food categories, including alcohol, so Indian food isn't unfairly targeted while MNCs continue to market Western junk unchecked,' Deora had said.
