PJ Gallagher outraged as Fingal event parking more expensive than Paris
Flavours of Fingal took place over the weekend, and despite being a free event, some attendees had to fork out a hefty sum for nearby parking.
The event, now in its 13th year, took place at Newbridge House and Farm with plenty of music, entertainment, farming, food, sport and fun over the weekend.
Amongst attendees was comic turned broadcaster PJ Gallagher who has hit out at the local county council for the 'rip off' parking prices. Organisers encouraged people to walk, cycle or take public transport where possible but had car parking available for those who required it.
They explained: 'Entry to the event is FREE for those who walk, cycle, travel by public transport (bus and train).'
Parking prices ranged from €25 to €40, with PJ hitting out that there was 'no warning about it until it's too late and you're in the queue.' Taking to Instagram, the father-of-two raged: 'They wanted €40 to park at this today! It's a scandal at a supposed free event that's not free at all.
'I did a runner to Donabate thankfully and had a great day parking for €2. An unbelievable rip off for a venue they know most people cannot get families to without a car.'
The parking prices are certainly hefty when one considers that parking by the Champs Elysée in Paris is a maximum of €28 for 24 hours while in London, 24 hour parking starts from £30 (€35).
Flavours of Fingal returned for its 13th year over the weekend with highlights including the Farmer's Field hosted by the Fingal Farmers Group; the Horticulture Tent as well as the Fingal Food Circle.
