Man with meth pipe accused of stealing tourist train and taking passengers for a ride before telling cops: ‘It's my birthday'

A Florida man is accused of stealing a novelty tourist train and picking up bystanders on the Fourth of July, before being arrested by Key West police. As officers searched and cuffed Jonathan Patrick Winslow, 57, he told police, 'It's my birthday,' and claimed to have once worked at driving the Conch Tour Train. Winslow, listed in jail records as an artist living in Big Torch Key Florida, faces charges of burglary, grand theft auto, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being detained in Key West with a $60,000 bond. Police were called to the Conch Train depot around 11.30 a.m. on Friday, on reports of the train being stolen, according to arrest documents obtained by WPLG. Winslow is accused of arriving at the depot, leaving his Kia still running, and taking off with the popular tourist train, leaving employees 'confused.' As the 57-year-old allegedly drove the train, which was embedded with a GPS tracker, he even picked up 'two random passengers,' according to officials. An employee was later able to retrieve the missing train, and Winslow was apprehended at the Southernmost Point Buoy. Police said the man 'appeared excited' and talked in a 'rapid speech.' Body camera video captured Winslow alternating between expressing alarm about his arrest and claiming he was being 'unlawfully detained,' as well as thanking officers and telling them he loved them. Elsewhere, he joked about creating some '4th of July drama,' and said he was due to watch a 'dinosaur movie' later that day with his grandson, according to authorities. In jail, police say they found a methamphetamine pipe in Winslow's pocket. The 57-year-old said the pipe was for marijuana. Winslow is expected to be arraigned on July 17.

Real-life Goldilocks: Florida man ‘broke into a stranger's home' to make dinner and have a bath because he was avoiding his angry wife

A Florida man has been arrested for allegedly breaking into a stranger's house and staying for days to avoid his 'angry' wife. The Polk County Sheriff's Office was called on June 9 about reports of lights unexpectedly being on inside a rental property in Davenport. When deputies arrived, around 10pm, the officers found Jocelyn Charles inside, with the 44-year-old allegedly admitting to breaking into the property days ago. 'Deputies went to the residence and found Joe inside, cooking, and he had just finished filling the tub for a bath,' the sheriff's office wrote in a bizarre June 15 Facebook post announcing the arrest, replete with Goldilocks jokes and bear puns, as well as the hashtag #IfJoeIsConvictedHeWillSpendTimeBehindTheGuiltyLocksAndTheThreeBars, and an image of a man being arrested who appears unrelated to the actual suspect. 'We assume the bath temperature was not too hot, nor too cold, but juuuuust right,' the post added. Police said that upon entering the residence, they saw the stove was in use, lights were on, and a cellphone was also plugged into a wall outlet, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by The Independent. 'Jocelyn advised he had been inside of this residence for approximately four days utilizing water and electricity without the authorization of the home owner,' the affidavit reads. The sheriff's office, in the Facebook post, provided additional information about the unusual circumstances of the alleged break-in. 'Joe told deputies that he had gotten in a fight with his wife, and he didn't want to go home, so he chose to burgle someone else's home instead,' the sheriff's department added. 'It's one of those things where you just have to grin and bear it.' The 44-year-old has been charged with unarmed burglary and petit theft. He has no prior theft arrests, according to the affidavit. Charles remains in custody and has a $10,000 bond on the burglary charge and a $250 bond on the petit theft charge, police told The Independent. A 2022 ACLU report identified the Polk County Sheriff's Office as having a record of civil rights violations and racial profiling, leaders making anti-immigration statements, and inhumane conditions in jail.

Cocky fugitive's social media challenge to sheriff backfires in spectacular fashion

A wanted Florida man has been arrested after a series of social media posts taunting the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Sheriff Grady Judd for not being able to catch him. The Polk County Sheriff's Office and Lakeland Police Department shared a series of Facebook posts by 29-year-old Aaron Donta Johnson, who was a wanted man for violating a pretrial release condition. "Ya'll too busy fishing dats why yall didn't catch me when I left my grandmas house today," Johnson said in one post to Judd's department. "Should've waited a bit longer. Yall accepted da challenge right. #GradyCan't FindMe #ComeAgainGrady." The posts, laden with poor grammar and bad spelling, appeared to be a dig towards Judd and his department for being too late to the scene. But that did not stop Judd and his team from responding to Johnson and taking on the challenge. "Spoken like a true man. Way to take responsibility for your actions," the sheriff's office wrote. "No worries – we will find you. Bet." As the posts continued, Johnson told the sheriff's office, "I done out ran yall several time. #ComeTryAgainGrady." "Challenge accepted," the sheriff's office wrote. In the final post shared by the sheriff's office, Johnson responded, "OK! I'll give you and ya crew a head start. Ya'll couldn't catch me on foot or in da car last time. Maybe you gonna need that horse or ya helicopter! #level up #ImGoneGrady." Also accepting the challenge, unbeknownst to Johnson, was the Lakeland Police Department, after he bragged about not being caught despite having multiple felony warrants issued against him. Johnson was ultimately captured by the Lakeland Police Department, who transported him to the Polk County Jail. "What Aaron didn't know is – that we got their backs," Lakeland Police wrote on social media. "When Aaron Johnson jumped on Facebook and challenged the Polk County Sheriff's Office, bragging he couldn't be caught despite having multiple felony warrants, our LPD officers said, 'Challenge accepted. "Today, that little game ended," the police department continued. "Our officers and detectives tracked him down and personally delivered him to the Deputies at the Polk County Jail. Nice Try, Aaron. Maybe next time…but probably not." Judd has become known for his no-nonsense tactics when it comes to stopping crime in Polk County. He's also become infamous for making examples of criminals – Johnson was no different. "You done messed up A-aron!" the Polk County Sheriff's Office said, referring to a hilarious and popular bit on the sketch comedy show, "Key & Peele." "You forgot all the agencies here in Polk work LakelandPD for the find. #GotEm #TeamworkMakesTheDreamwork #PlayStupidGamesWinStupidPrizes #AaronRanButWeCaughtHimAnyway." Johnson has been in and out of the Polk County Jail several times since at least 2015, on charges including drug possession, driving on a suspended license, domestic assault, burglary, and written threat to kill or injure another person, according to jail records. He now faces several charges, including violation of pretrial release conditions.

New Florida police officer has first encounter with alligator

LARGO, Fl. (WSAV) — First impressions don't always go well. Just ask a police officer who moved from New York to Florida. He came face-to-face with an alligator. It went about as well as you'd expect. The officer responded to what his department called a 'very Florida' situation: an alligator wandering onto someone's property. He worked up the courage to hold it, despite some pleading for help and maybe even some squealing. The department shared the moment online. The gator was safely relocated to another area and no officers were harmed. The Largo Police Department said this was the officer's official welcome to Florida. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. 5 GTA universe connections we hope to see in GTA 6

(Image via Rockstar Games) GTA 6 isn't just a game, it's the moment. We've been cooking in anticipation for years, and now that Rockstar's dropped those spicy trailer details, it's time to talk about something deeper than chaos, cars, and crime: lore. Yup, GTA lore is real, and there are some wild connections across the universe we're dying to see in GTA 6. Here are 5 GTA universe connections we hope to see in Vice City 2.0. 1. Trevor's Mysterious Florida Story In GTA 5, Trevor casually drops that he spent some time in Florida (aka Leonida). What exactly went down there? Did he build meth labs in the Everglades? Go full Florida Man? We want a Trevor cameo, maybe as a flashback or some crazy side quest. Give us chaotic energy in full force. We need answers. We need closure . History Of CARL JOHNSON | Johnson Family Complete Story In HINDI 2. CJ's Family Tree Let's not ignore the San Andreas side of things. CJ dipped out of Grove Street and went legit. But what if he had kids? What if one of them ended up in Vice City trying to escape his past? Imagine running into someone who casually says, 'Yeah, my dad used to roll with the Grove.' That's cinematic gold right there. 3. The FIB and IAA Beef These two shady agencies have been fighting since GTA 4 and GTA 5. We need to see the chaos continue in GTA 6. Maybe Jason and Lucia get caught in the middle. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Pinga-Pinga e HBP? Tome isso 1x ao dia se tem mais de 40 anos Portal Saúde do Homem Clique aqui Undo Maybe they're pawns in some government conspiracy. Either way, bring the black suits, helicopters, and drama. 4. Lazlow's Comeback Lazlow is the king of cringe , and we love him for it. He's been in every GTA game since forever. If he doesn't show up on Vice City radio with some unhinged podcast or NFT scam, we riot. Franklin visits Tommy Vercetti's Legacy 5. Tommy Vercetti's Legacy Tommy ruled Vice City in the '80s. Now it's 2025. What happened to him? Is the Vercetti family still running things behind the scenes? Maybe his empire collapsed. Or maybe his son is now a politician (plot twist: he's corrupt as hell). Even just a mention or Easter egg would have OG fans screaming. The GTA universe is massive, messy, and full of potential. Connecting the dots from past games won't just be fun—it'll make GTA 6 feel like the ultimate crossover event. Your move, Rockstar.
