OAKFIELD, Wis. (WFRV) – Following a , the sheriff's office says they have identified those involved. According to a release from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office, 81-year-old Mary Naggatz was pronounced dead at the scene following a head-on collision at 12:27 p.m. Tuesday on US Highway 151 near Thill Road in the Town of Oakfield. Authorities say Naggatz was heading south on US Highway 151 when she likely suffered a medical emergency, causing her to cross the median, enter the northbound lanes, and crash into another vehicle head-on. Semi-truck crashes into ditch in Fond du Lac County, driver seriously hurt The driver of the other vehicle involved in the head-on crash, 58-year-old Daniel Sturm from Neenah, suffered serious injuries and was taken to St. Agnes Hospital for treatment. In an attempt to avoid the crash, officials say Strum sideswiped another northbound vehicle. Those in the third vehicle were said not to be hurt. An 81-year-old woman from the Sun Prairie area was pronounced dead at the scene, with a 59-year-old Waupun man seriously injured and hospitalized for treatment. Preliminary investigations indicate that the woman was heading southbound when she may have suffered a medical emergency, crossing over the grass median into the northern lanes and hitting the Waupun man's vehicle. AUBURN, Wis. (WFRV) – In what began as the controlled burn of a Fond du Lac County barn, the flames quickly burned out of control, prompting a response from multiple fire departments. Deputies with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office say they got a 911 call around 9:05 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, from a passerby reporting a barn on fire in the W1000 block of Old Bridge Road in the Town of Auburn. Shortly after that call, dispatch was contacted by the property owner who stated the fire was a controlled burn of the barn. Fire at uninhabitated in Oshkosh under investigation, officials seeking evidence to find cause Roughly 15 minutes after the initial 911 call, a second 911 call came in from the property owner saying the fire was out of control. The flames at the barn, which is roughly 40 feet by 60 feet in size, began to intensify and threaten nearby structures. The Campbellsport Fire Department, Kewaskum Fire Department, and Eden Fire Department were called to assist. No injuries were reported and no other structures were damaged. To ensure that happens, an aerial enforcement plan is scheduled to take place on Saturday and Sunday. It involves enforcing traffic laws to help make sure drivers reach their destinations safely. When in the air, the department said pilots can easily spot drivers who are speeding or driving aggressively. Pilots will observe a violation, then communicate with ground-based units to initiate a traffic stop. The department said many of the aerial enforcement missions are announced publicly to reinforce the State Patrol's goal of improving safety through voluntary compliance with traffic laws. RIPON, Wis. (WFRV) – A cat died from smoke inhalation during a house fire in Ripon on Thursday morning, with the home suffering significant damage. The Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office reported that dispatch received a call at 10:24 a.m. regarding smoke at a home located at W13819 Skyline Circle, with black smoke reportedly filling the interior. What should your thermostat be set at during summer? Deputies and fire crews arrived, locating the source of the smoke and containing flames before it spread throughout. The preliminary investigation indicated an electrical fire started in a workshop after a tool reportedly failed while plugged in. The homeowners were not home; however, a cat inside died from smoke inhalation, while other pets were safely rescued. The rest of the house was significantly damaged by smoke and soot and has been deemed uninhabitable.
