USDA Announces Recall of More Than 140,000 Pounds of Deli Meat

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has announced a recall on 143,416 pounds of Gaiser's European Style Provisions Inc. deli meat products due to mislabeling. The recalled ready-to-eat bologna products may contain other meat or poultry "source materials" that are not mentioned on the product labels. The bologna products were recalled because the label does not clearly indicate that the meat contains pork—or, in some cases, beef and chicken. The issue was discovered after a complaint was filed via the Office of Inspector General's hotline. The bologna was sold under multiple brand names at wholesale and retail locations between March 20 and June 20. If you have purchased bologna over the past three months, look for the following information on the package to determine if it has been impacted by this recall. Family Tree Bologna Veal Babushka's Recipe Chicken Bologna Fancy Bologna Gaisers Russian Brand Doktorskaya Bologna Gaisers Bologna Veal Gaisers Turkey Bologna Chicken Bologna Kypoyka Paba All recalled bologna will have the establishment number "5385" listed inside the USDA mark of inspection. You can also find label images on the USDA's site to better determine if you have the recalled meat. In addition to the vacuum-packed and plastic-wrapped products listed above, the recalled bologna may have been weighed, wrapped, and labeled individually at a store's deli counter. FSIS has not received any reports of illnesses or adverse effects associated with eating the bologna and has classified this recall as Class III, indicating that "use of the product will not cause adverse health consequences." However, if you have the recalled bologna—or you purchased bologna from a deli counter between March 20 and June 20 and it does not clearly state the brand name—you should not consume it. Instead, throw it away or return it to the place of purchase. If you have any questions, you can contact Gaiser's European Style Provisions Inc. at 908-686-3421 or gaisers@ Read the original article on ALLRECIPES

Johnsonville cheddar bratwurst recalled due to possible hard plastic pieces

Apr. 8—The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety Inspection Service has announced a recall of 22,672 pounds of Johnsonville's cheddar bratwurst in 10 states including Ohio because it could contain hard plastic pieces. The affected bratwurst is 19-ounce tray packages with five pieces of "Johnsonville BRATS CHEDDAR Bratwurst" with package code B9FOD and "Est. 1647″ on the front of the label. The bratwurst were produced on Feb. 5, 2025. Two consumer complaints reported hard plastic material found in the bratwurst products to the firm, which later notified FSIS, the agency said. No injuries have been reported. "FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers' freezers," the agency said. "Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase." Consumers with questions about the recall can contact Amanda Fritsch, consumer relations coordinator for Johnsonville, LLC at 888-556-2728 or anachtweyfritsch@
