Lionesses to celebrate Euros triumph with London victory parade on open-top bus as thousands expected to line streets: Live updates

England's history-making Lionesses will today celebrate their Euros triumph with the nation during a victory parade in London this afternoon. Thousands of people will descend on the capital to cheer on Sarina Wiegman and the Women's Euros winning squad in an open-top bus procession. The homecoming celebrations come after the Lionesses landed back in the UK on Monday just hours after beating Spain in a dramatic penalty shoot-out in Basel, Switzerland. The achievement means marked the first time an England football team had won back-to-back major tournaments and one on foreign soil.

Big Ten notebook: Hoosiers ready to prove they're no one-hit wonder

LAS VEGAS — After a surprising 10-0 start, a program-record 11 wins and a trip to the College Football Playoff, some believe Indiana is destined to take a step backward in 2025. Coach Curt Cignetti and his team, however, didn't get the memo. 'We're not looking to sustain it, we're looking to improve it,' Cignetti said Tuesday at Big Ten football media days. 'And the way you do that is by having the right people on the bus, upstairs in the coaches' offices, downstairs in the locker room.'

LOOK: Commanders debut alternate uniforms with a nod to the past

Washington Commanders owner Josh Harris wasn't lying when he said he wanted to honor the franchise's historic past. On Wednesday, the long-awaited reveal of Washington's alternate uniforms paid homage to the past. Here's what the back of the jerseys looks like: These are the uniforms the franchise wore during its most successful years, when they were known as the Redskins. The "W" helmet remains, but it has been updated with traditional stripes to resemble the pre-Commanders uniforms. The franchise changed its name to the temporary moniker of the "Football Team" in 2020. Washington remained the Football Team for two seasons until a disastrous rebranding to the Commanders in February 2022. Advertisement While these uniforms are considered alternates for 2025, they are expected to become the primary uniforms for 2026 and beyond, much like what the New York Jets did with their alternates. The Jets wore their throwbacks as alternates in 2023 before they became permanent in 2024. The Commanders will wear the alternate throwbacks three times next season: Week 9 vs. Seattle: Sunday Night Football Week 13 vs. Denver: Sunday Night Football Week 17 vs. Dallas: Christmas Day The only negative: Waiting until Week 9 to see the Commanders in these uniforms. East Asian Football Championship: do Hong Kong really have no chance?

Ashley Westwood is a stickler for detail, so it was probably no accident that he exaggerated Hong Kong's underdog status on the eve of their first East Asian Football Championship match on Tuesday. 'We're playing three very good teams, two of the best-ranked teams in Asia, and China, a good, strong side,' the city's head coach said in Yongin, on the outskirts of Seoul, as he previewed the opening clash with Japan. As if to emphasise the gulf between his Hong Kong side and the rest, he went on to refer to '15th-ranked Japan, 23 [South] Korea, 93 China, and in the background is us, 159 currently'. In fact, Hong Kong have climbed to No 153 since Westwood took over last August, while China sit slightly lower than claimed, at 94, but the coach and his charges have eagerly cast themselves as happy-go-lucky tourists in their few public utterings since arriving in South Korea on Saturday.
